I believe the vulture looks the way it does with the wings because it’s literally a retrofitted pelican, which gives it more connection with irl gunships and their evolution of a guy looking at a plane and going “hmm yes put big gun on it”

I would say that the halo wars 1 vulture behaves even more like a gunship because it actually uses its vertical launch missiles in a more meaningful way against armour targets that 20mm can’t penetrate.

To me, the Vulture is what happens when you mix an AC style aircraft with something like the V-22 Osprey, and then bulk it up a lot. The ability to hover rather than orbit is what makes me think that it's somewhere between AC gunship and heli/tiltwing. Actually, that's a thought, a V-22 Osprey Gunship.

Things I have never understood in halo, lack of SAW, GPMG style weapons. Anti armor weapons, grenade launchers, or IDF assets.
@Zeoinx69
@Zeoinx69 Год назад
So Halo has Anti Armor Sniper Rifles, and Weapons in the form of the typical Sniper Rifle seen in game, and Guass Rifles. Grenade Launchers are seen in Halo Reach. GPMGs and Saws are seen in Halo 2, for the Turrets the UNSC set up on board the cairo station when the covenant are trying to break through the initial doors to where Chief and Johnson start the mission. Its not as if the weapons dont exist in Halo, its just as a spartan, for the power fantasy, its not needed to be show cased as you are generally "stopping" to set up and deploy those type of larger weapons. As far as IDF assets, like carbines, it is debatable weather a carbine is needed when the weapons of the UNSC are primarly bull pulp designs are are already compact, and the SMGs of the UNSC, and side arms, are arguably just as capable

The AC-220 weighs just a little less than a fully loaded B-52, at about 2/3 the size of an AC-130, height and width wise. The A-74 Sylver vertical launch silos firing a single internally reloaded Anvil-IV air-to-surface missile is definitely a step ahead of what we have now, before we started to roll it into full production, long range ASMs on large air support artillery gunships isn't a new concept, but I do enjoy that it takes that idea and refits it, literally.

i would take note of the fact that if i recall correctly in one of the comics (escalation i think?) vultures were able to engage broadswords, which, are fighters, meaning their movement while still not the best is LARGELY nerfed by gameplay (like...most pieces of weaponry in halo games actually) and is capable of limited dogfighting with a craft MUCH older and better equipped. They didn't win in the end iirc but the fact they could even *try* should give them some credit.

The AC-220 Vulture is actually armed with between 4-8 A-74 Sylver Vertical Missile Launcher , 4-8 Anvil-IV Air-to-Surface Missile launchers , 4x 20mm GAU-23/AW/Linkless Feed Autocannon , 18 Argent missile pods and Phoenix Missiles which are carried on the underbelly of the Vulture. So it has a larger number of missiles systems than you mentioned. Just saying. Oh and in universe it's not as slow as it is in the games considering it is a jet aircraft. As can be seen by the jet exhaust coming from the craft.

Some suggestion for future videos (I posted this in other videos' comments): - Absurd lack of mortars in Halo (During WW2, mortars are the biggest infantry killers. See TIK's videos on the Eastern Front. Mortars would work well against hordes of foot mounted Covenants like Unggoys, etc as well as the Flood, but the UNSC don't use them) - Spacesuits and vacuum rated helmets in Halo are unrealistic. My problem with spacefaring human militaries in science fiction is how they always get spacesuits wrong. Spacesuits are practically a one-man spacecraft on itself. They are fat and bulky because of the need to store oxygen, protect against debris, as well as pressurization, the need to maintain constant volume inside the spacesuit, as well as the need to be basically a one-man spacecraft on itself. Even if they are skintight they should be rather thick - At the very least they must be as thick and skin tight as this sm.ign.com/ign_es/screenshot/default/cod-infinite-warfare-mp-rig-stryker_3y5n.jpg 3.bp.blogspot.com/-Dfx0C_3lL2I/WDpARjcuzkI/AAAAAAAADs0/jR8MKZWQrX4UrOvaZUvpt0d2dUDyN4fGgCEw/s1600/RIGS_stryker_A_gfx_03.jpg i.imgur.com/5ZxSv67_d.jpg?maxwidth=2560&shape=thumb&fidelity=high halo.wiki.gallery/images/a/a8/Halo-A-Hero-Falls-Spacewoman.png Also, the helmet is unrealistic because it's really hard to make vacuum seal with neck exposure like that. The helmet should cover to the neck and attaches directly to the suit, neck shouldn't really be exposed. Something like the Interstellar helmet, at least. Or, in Haloverse, see the Hellbringer's helmet.) - IRL militaries are not as "stingy" in regards of armor and BDU as the UNSC. Regular Marines' armor are practically just series of Level III / III+ titanium plates - that were even more primitive than our 21st century boron carbide + UHMWPE ESAPI plates, while even ODST armor are far more advanced. You can even see this in the 21st century militaries - regular Marines now wear equipment that are special operations' gear on the 2000s. Real life militaries would make ODST armor and BDU standard issue to all UNSC personnel and make SPIs standard issues to reconnaisance units and ODSTs. ODST armor has been in vogue since Insurrection. - Mere orbital drop are just 26th century version of Airborne school. ODSTs has been in vogue since the Interplanetary wars, and really aren't that complicated to use. Considering the ship based deployment of UNSC Marines you would think orbital drops can and should be used by regular Marines as a way to mass drop entire divisions to battle, akin to WW2 Parachute Regiments. Also, I want to expand more about SPARTAN's being redundant in your first 2 videos: There are 7 types of special operations' jobs: Direct action, special reconnaisance, civil affairs, psy ops, combat control (I put TACP / JTAC as well as ANGLICO as part of combat control), CSAR, unconventional warfare. SPARTANs can't be used for anything that has interaction with civilians, but even then there's still CSAR, direct action, special reconnaisance and combat control. Plus we saw SPARTANs operate every weapon & vehicle you can dream of ("operate every weapon" is probably similar to Green Beret's Weapons Sgts). Also, Jerome-092 is shown are capable to be an acting commander in the field (officer side it would be a CWO level). If what you want are just direct action units, yes SPARTANs are redundant (except SPARTAN IVs and Orion project). But if what you want is "trained in every aspect of warfare" as per lore, maybe not. In fact I would say if what you want is "trained in every aspect of warfare" as per lore, SPARTANs should graduate not in their teens, but at 21-22 years old similar to knighthood age. Why? Pilot training takes 1. 5 to 2 years. Operating a vehicle takes 1-2 weeks of training, but I imagine operating Mantis would take like 1-2 months. Astronaut's basic training is like 1. 5 years (not including advanced training and mission specific training).

I dont understand im pretty sure that while the helment does not continue into the neck on most ODST battle uniforms that the neck is not exposed either
@icefl4re597

The neck is pretty much only covered by skintight undersuit and the helmet is only covering the face. You can't make a vacuum seal with that.

@TheGeoCheese

I kind of agree too. Condors's gunship modifications are literal pulse cannons (I would imagine it as more rapid firing + longer distance Spartan Lasers) plus literal mini MAC. That's 5 "40mm cannon equivalent" (but far more advanced) + 1 "105 mm cannon" (but literal mini MAC).
