In Usa, noboby throws garbage anywhere (for the most part), there are no sweepers carrying brooms, the word sweeper is never heard of, sweeping the public areas and roads in india with a broom causes enormous dust generation plus its so inefficient, its really stupid, they cant think of a better technique.
Not quite. There is a class mentality in China as well where people of higher social order treat the working class with disdain. Of course india has the same problem and probably worse.

Suprisingly, I hear no noise. Then I realize all the vehicles, big or small, are electric. If it's in Hong Kong, we could hit over 100 dB such that you can't hear the person speaking beside you. It was an amazing experience. Chinese cities are advancing fast.
Instead of solving India's problems, the Indians blindly argue for their country. You can't improve if you don't first recognize and acknowlege the problems.

the reasons trolls existed in India tells you why India remains in such deplorable state today. My friend (an Indian from Malaysia) just came back. He swore he would never go back to India. I agree. I was in China in the 80s and I was taken aback by the poorly developed condition of China and the attitude of the people. Sadly my bias built from those experiences kept me away. But I had to return for work 20 years later and I began to understand the Chinese better and began to have hope for China. I learned that their earlier attitudes and behaviours were driven by their desire to learn and catch up with the rest of the world, hence the sometime dubious behaviour. I grew to respect their tenacity, resilience and purpose-driven mindset. I believe the world, and especially India (if India sets aside its delusions, prejudices, hubris and arrogance) can learn from China. Not everything is transplantable because cultural differences exist, but adaptability is crucial.

Yet PM Modi and his Foreign Minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, declared themself as a superpower. Just because they have the fifth-largest GDP does not make them a superpower. They have the world's largest population so it is not surprising they have a large GDP. $10 x 1=$10, the same $10 x 1,000 = $10,000. It is simple maths, something that the Indians are supposed to be good at. Oh! They are good at lying too.
They have manoeuvre their own elite caste people into many important top jobs overseas like World bank and IMF. They try to probably influence those organisations to help their country's interests. Like I said before India will never catch up to China. China policy is common prosperity, infrastructures projects for its citizens, while India is following the western style capitalism policies.
There's nothing wrong with following Western capitalism (look at the Nordic countries how successful they are). What India is following is their own trashy dysfunctional way of doing things.
Only one rule applies in India, gain power by any means and dominate the weak. People vote for mafia and criminal politicians, corrupt industrialists build nexus with them and loot the country further. Those who can't become politicians or industrialists try to become civil servants and then behave like kings & prince's towards the common people, and those with absolutely no qualities become gurus and babas and fool people, and because people listen to the gurus and babas they also become extremaly powerful. So Indian culture is this, there's no concern for the poor or nation or anything other than narrow self interest. No wonder India is still poor and a giant slum full of misery.

Every country has good or bad things according to its original condition of history. So be proud of your country for its good, and try to change its bad, be a good Indian representative to the world.
Caste system has always been a part of India's culture, it existed for thousands of years, ancient India was very successful by having a caste system, it made India rich and advanced until India became a democracy. Today's caste system in India is very minimal, barely exists, at least not as huge or popular as it was 1,000 to 2,000 years ago when India was rich and advanced compared to Europe. The main problem with today's India is the corruption in the democratic government, with useless officials and employees who are corrupted and lazy. If India is run by one-party communist government like that in China, then India has a chance to become a real nation. The same goes for all the other South Asian countries such as Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Beyond comparison Kirk!!! India align itself to Western values, only the oligarchs benefits, same mentality of the rich in western world, bugger the rest!!!😢😢
I've been to both India and Thailand. Thailand is much more modern and clean compared to India so it makes me laugh that Indians compare India to China.
American here. I recently traveled to Taiwan, HK, and China. So far, it's been an eye opener. The subways, airports, and ground transportation systems are world class. When I was in a hurry to get across town, there was always a clean and couteous taxi nearby to promptly take me to my destination. Lastly, I will not take India seriously. If Indians are smart, they would ask to be governed by the British again. However, I am not sure, the British would want that headache again.... Probably a big NO is the answer.
"f Indians are smart, they would ask to be governed by the British again." Well, loads of Pakistanis like myself would also welcome the break from ourselves, but Brits have enough Pakistanis on their small Island they wouldn't have any use for us.

Funny thing is that India invested so much into the space program and taken great pride in their landing on the south pole of the moon and bragged about they being the first nation that did it. Shortly after that they launched another spacecraft reaching for the sun. Well, great achievements indeed but they've forgotten all about the hundreds of millions of poor people in their country that need helps.
I agree with most of what Gweilo said except this. The country is rich enough to proceed both simultaneously. A country always need to try and advance the country via these achievements. It doesn't mean that this will take away the resources meant for the country's other problem. Whilst China was trying to overcome her problems in the late 1990s, they still invest heavily in science and technologies. That is why they are where they are today.
Gweilo, India can't take the truth. Instead of looking at the issues, they don't want to address it. I've been to both, and it's a very obvious contrast. I agreed with you, Gweilo. Great observations, maybe one day they can resolve many, many problems over there.
The problem is, when the British ruled India, they setup a class of Indian to help run India. When the British left, these new Indian oligarchs (turncoats) took over, and they still run India now. Yes, India needs their own version of revolution!
They need revolution, stability, order, unity and only then can prosperity occur. Unfortunately for Indians the government has supreme control over the population so the first step is improbable.
I remember going to China in 2007 and toilets (if there were any) were mostly squat toilets or a hole in a ground. Nowadays, public toilets in China are cleaner than my own bathroom!

Yes, even the land that the Indians claimed to be theirs is actually land that was a part of Tibet, which the UK and the US claimed was a part of China and that was the reason the UK made China pay a king’s ransom for the loss of lives to the British soldiers who were killed by the Tibetan resistors when the British soldiers invaded Tibet! Those Indians now claim the land that the British stole from Tibet belonged to them! Which is laughable!
I have been to India to see it for myself, omg, I was sad, I saw a little girl about the age of 4 with her little brother, her hair was all tangled up and never have been washed before, begging at the Gandhi memorial park, it was a well kept park but the child was all by herself and little brother, who would leave their kid wondering like this???you would be so shocked if you have seen this!!and guess what, they only took us to restaurants with American prices, I was paying $20 dollar a meal in india with poor quality food.
One thing that bothers Indians so much about China is how only 40 years ago China was not much different than India. Take the clock back 70 years ago and China was poorer than India and most African countries. China's rise reminds Indians of the failure of their government. India's politicians, oligarchs, media, and elites are forced to hate China and promote Anti-China rhetoric because they are desperately trying to avoid the Indian people realizing one simple thing: The Chinese government is not bad, it's actually a very competent and good government who can deliver for their people, why can't the Indian government do that? Years of mismanagement by Indian politicians and exploitation by the Indian elites become the obvious reasons why India fell so far behind China. If the Indian people ever realized that China is not some enemy to be hated but something they can actually achieve if they had a competent government, they might start demanding real change. At best many people at the top of Indian society will no longer have jobs; At worst, many top Indian leaders will be exposed as the useless bureaucrats they are and heads will roll. Indians are forced to hate China, because any objective alternative is to realize that for all it's faults, Chinese Communism is far outperforming India's Liberal Democratic system. And it might suggest an embarrassing reality: Indians blindly accepting Western style Democracy without thinking about it's unique culture and historical circumstance was an extremely foolish and stupid move. China forging it's own path based on it's unique culture and historical circumstances instead of blindly following the West, has proven to be an extremely smart move. As the old saying goes: "It's much easier to trick someone, than to convince them that they've been tricked." Indians got tricked by the West and now it's impossible to convince them that they've been tricked. Indians would rather blame China so they can ignore the obvious, this is what will keep them forever poor.
@deadbutmoving : 😅 you are right, Indians got tricked by the West. The Western system of government is not the appropriate one for India but it is maintaining course. Should have taken alternative path according to it's rich culture and civilization.

Most of my co-workers are of young Indian descent. I sat and listened when they rant about their constant negative experiences in India, the one line that says it all: "India has no hope".
Same experience with me. I was simply pointing out if a company wanted to build a product and sell it globally, it would be 4 or 5 times harder to get it on a road and port to export than it would in China.
@@DarlyaFaroeste yah it's sad because the country has MASSIVE potential but their own mindset is their biggest weakness. Everything else can be educated, or upskilled or learnt or built... But only people can change their minds...
You are quite ill-mannered to have seen the truth and said it in front of a good, understandable and kind Indian. You don't deserve to be his friend or stay in India not to see the same things that pro Indians dream of. 😅
@@ronburgandy1475 They will reach their level of incompetence which is limited by their IQ. That's why they will never reach the heights that China has reached.
I agree with you though I am an Indian and reside in India. I agree with you because I have been to China twice and I know what you are talking about. It's not that I don't love my country but I agree with you totally on the point that the Government must feed, and clothe and educate, and see whether its citizens are healthy before spending billions of dollars on space probes.
I believe you're are from a well to do bengali family. Why don't you save money by staying in a more humble house, leave all fancy food , cut all kind of luxury from your life and feed the poor? Why don't you sell the laptop/mobile from where you are typing this and feed poor? See 34 years of leftist govt has brainswashed us to believe that all kind of development or industry are against poor and poverty , whereas on contrary industry and development actually remove poverty. In all countries be it Europe or more recently China it happened in the same way. We cannot say we won't run rail or aeroplane services because it also take billions and instead we'd feed the poor. can we? But it's truth that when the rail started many people said so. What is the need to spend so much whereas we can feed poor. In reality rail helps us to reduce poverty to a great extent by proving fast communication and obviously by providing jobs. Now coming to the space program. Do you think govenment just throw away some billion and boom Indias probe launched on moon. It does not workd that way. A whole industry is running behind this. Think about ISRO scientist and other thousand of employees, the companies those manufactured the essesntial part if the launch vehicle and probes and the companies from where it procured smaller equipments and so on. Now by the money they are getting increasing their purchasing power and they spend the money to other people to purchase goods and services and so on. This is how economy of country works. The most of the money that government is spending is actually going to Indian people directly and indirectly and they are making livlihood from that. Secondly, coming to the business aspect, do you know how much India earn by this space program. India has already been launching satellites from lot of countries including these so called developed countries and earning billion. India has a huge prospect in this area as India ssecret of space program which is really cheap compared to other nations. India space based stock market grew exponentially from the next day of moon landing. We want to govt to feed poor. where would the money come from? govt has to earn right? this is one of the ways it can earn along with other industrilization which proleftist terms as burjoya. Thirdly, you told about education. Isn't this space mission itself a manifestation of education ? or by education you just mean to grab a clerical job and earn 20.000/- salary , marry, have kids and thats all? What is the point of education if as a nation we cannot innovate, make scientific exploration , building business like google, microsoft etc? This exploration is setting vision to our youth and will definitely make them think big and beyond a meagre job. This will reduce brain drain as they would get good work here itself. who knows may be one two of them start a space industry in India like spaceX and boost Indian economy some day. This is how country grows educationally and ofcourse economically. btw. Indian govt has doing it's part on both poverty and education. just google you can see Indias poverty rate got reduced from 25% to 14% in just last 5 years. This has been possible because government is earning enough money by industrialization and hence export, science tech and offcource less corruption. Look, India is growing really fast. Finally I'd like to say don't let these western media and leftist fool you. They want us to remain poor and underdeveloped for ever. They want us to struggle for basic need and they cannot tolerate as we are progressing rapidly.
Indians abroad are nothing special. Given a chance, every single Indian would leave India. Only to pollute his or her new land. So be careful of Indians anywhere. They need to be tamed. Exceptions always exist and they must get our respect.
Those who've traveled to India know what you said is true. Those who argue against it is delusional. Indians better face reality for their country to make any substantial improvement.
The cruise ship made a stop at a small town called Cochin in the southwestern part of India about 12 years ago. the first thing we noted is the rotten smell all over the harbourfront. little kids, probably 6 0r 7 years old kept on pushing what they wanted to sell to us. We did buy some, not because of their stuff, but out of sympathy for those young children. It is dirty, garbage all over the place. After riding on a bus for a short time to visit another tourist spot, we were alarmed by all those red and itchy spots showing up on our lower legs. Yek, no way I will go to that country again.
i have been to India twice, the first time by myself, the second time with my Taiwanese gf. i asked her if she wants to go back for another visit. she said, "Once is enough." LOL
Completely agree, in ancient times Rome had the greatest public baths and sanitation, what they had was unheard at these times. They had almost modern sanitation but were living 2000 years ago.
You are brave! You are the only person in Canada + US combined that is telling the truth about China. Most Americans think India is heaven! All the American journalists cannot mention India w/o singing a love song first.
India is exactly the kind of country the US wants all other countries to be! Poor, weak, civilians fighting each other for crumbs, and begging the US for help! This way the US could rule over the world with an iron fist and brag about how great it really is over all other countries! Now you know why the American media love India to death! No threat to the US's hegemony whatsoever!
The funny thing is, India always considers it equal to China, in reality the differences in various aspects are very large, for example in per capita GDP, China is around $12,500 while India is only $2,500, China's installed power generation capacity was 2,564.05 GW and India is only 416 GW. India may need 50 years to reach China's current level.
I don't think India is ever going to catch China, India is colony of the west. Colonies are always kept below their Master. That's why the west so much hates China, because China is not under their boot. That's why China is becoming greater and stronger.
You have to blame the West, as well as their own politicians, for that crazy mindset. The West is using India to contain China. They feed the Indian ego that their country is a "superpower". Current Indian politicians amplify this to show that their country is on the right course under their leadership. They distract the horrible domestic economic problems and social inequality. This gaslighting is way overboard. India's behaviour is like a person loudly boasting his superiority and capabilities to the world. The world will know your abilities and accomplishments if they are real. The one that boasts is illusional. If India truly wants to move ahead and become a strong country, it should start with a check on reality, do away with the caste system, improve infrastructure and stop wasting money on building up the military. Nobody is going to invade India, let alone China. As one Chinese said, China is not crazy. The surest way for China to destruct is to conquer India. They will face insurmountable problems, among which, is to feed 1.4 billion more people? People should know that India did not exist as a country until 1948, when the British left. They sure left a mess! India was a civilization and a great one at that. The British exploited the conflict between various raj to keep them weak. They could not do this with China and could only nibble away that country. A final word. China does not want conflict with India. I have not come across any such belligerent calls either by the government or their people. We all should help each other to create a better world.
What????? Only always considers it equal to China????? Do you know many even claimed they are more advanced than China. Better that China and far stronger than China.
If anyone in India know- it should be Modi! He has the opportunity to make India a better place with new friends in Brics but he goes to see Biden!!! So, is Modi suffering from old age too? Or does he just in a hurry to be a political superstar!!!
Modi has the most rare and coveted opportunity to do the greatest thing in the history of the world in several millenia by just turning around India and thus earning the greatest amount of gratitude and blessings of humanity. But it seems he doesnt or wont see this opportunity that has come his way. Come as the Lord shall please.
I would give most of the credit to the CPC government - authoritarian on fighting corruption, poverty, and they make reforms to their laws to further benefit their people, sincere leadership, China is a gorgeous country to live whether it's in the cities, suburbs or rural areas, and ancient parts of China is so amazing. India has nothing to offer. During the height of covid, there were videos of corpses being dumped into the Ganges River. That is not as evil as dumping radioactive sewage into the ocean but those two share the same platform.
I used to hate CCP extremely and was fed up with their false propaganda. Until a few years ago, I saw brand-new high-speed rail stations and buses in my poor hometown, fiber optics entered every home, power outages became a thing of the past, and many families bought cars. Yes, the future described in high school textbooks came true, and they did deliver on their promises. We see what is happening in India. When your vote can't change your future, what's the point of its existence?

They can't clean their act up because it's democracy country remember. It's wrong to tell someone to do the right thing. If something needs to be done right, will take forever. If something needs to be done wrong, will be done tomorrow.
Japan is a democracy. South Korea is a democracy. There are many developed countries which are democratic. Being a democracy is not a hindrance to the development process.
@@SinnadoreAll those countries were autocraties or dictatorship when they we're developing. Then they adopted western style democracy after they reached a certain level of development
That's true. You won't find 'civilization' in India, only lies. Try doing business with an Indian, or renting your place to an Indian and you will see why. In my lifetime studying and working in different countries, I have had 2 Indian roommates, and over 40 other roommates. Only 3 people ever cheated the rent. 1 non-Indian, and both the Indians. Most people I know, refuse to rent to Indians. It is not legal to discriminate, so one time a friend had no choice but to rent. He did ask for higher security deposit. He lost his air cond units and glass doors. The Indian family STOLE these!!!! Are you kidding me?? We learned that air cond units are actually just mounted on metal plates and can be lifted off their mounts. Wow.
India was a Civilization. They carved temples in mountains that were more amazing than any pyramids in Egypt. They have Ayuthervada and Yoga and Kama Sutra. Even Madonna spent years wearing a Sari.
I know Ancient India had a civilisation of its own, however, what you described is more like history, custom, and culture. It is not exactly the same as civilisation. A continuous civilisation, like China, should has its own set of values and rules, and it should be reconned by the entire population, including all ethnic groups, or even different religions groups. @@eduardochavacano

India will never change. It has not in the last 35 years. It denies reality and believes in an another world India that does not exist. Their bragging about their contribution to IT is laughable.
I’m not sure if this is true or not, but a couple of my yoga friends, really into yoga and the Indian culture, who had to visit India. They thought it would be an enlightening pilgrimage. When they returned, were they disappointed. They said there were dead cows on the roadside. They even saw dead human bodies on the roadside. This was before covid!
You are correct, I am and Indian and now over 50 years old, the people are fooled by Bollywood and politics, we have poverty that is unimaginable, its beyond repair. Its sad and depressing when you travel outside India and come back to such an environment.
Truly, a cultural revolution is needed. Otherwise, the Oligarchs, educated and the caste system will continue to keep the majority underprivileged and poor forever down and out.
