We will talk about his childhood, why he chose to be a cricketer, finding good coaches, being an all-rounder, the hardest skill of cricketing, what are stress fractures, and much more.
We also talked about the 2007 World Cup, MS Dhoni’s captaincy, Gautam Gambhir’s leadership, Rohit Sharma vs. Hardik Pandya for Mumbai Indians, IPL Mega auctions, mental health battles among players, and much more.

Man's not wrong. Karnataka won 3 Ranji Trophies in 4 yrs between 1995-99, and thats when you saw a bunch of Karnataka boys in the national team. That was Robin's point. If you are not from Bombay/Delhi, it takes that level of winning to get merely noticed.

Under Sachin captaincy period I saw Kumble, SujithSomasundaram, Prasad, Srinath, Dravid, Vijay Bharadwaj, Sunil Joshi, Dodda Ganesh & David Johnson all played for India. 1996 - 97 season India toured SA/ WI for long series. All of them except Sujith Somasundaram & Vijay Bharadwaj part of Indian team. When we look at squads which toured Windies & SA we can find RahulDravid, Kumble & Prasad in all 8 tests, spinner Sunil Joshi in 4 tests in WI, Srinath in 3 tests in SA, pacer D. Ganesh in 3 tests, 2 vs SA & 1 vs WI & pacer D.Johnson 1 test vs SA. These all players played for India from 1st test in SA tour to 1st test in WI tour under Sachin captaincy. In first 4 tests 20 were filled by these Karnataka & rest were Sachin, Mongia, Azhar & Ganguly in all 4 tests, Laxman in 3 tests, V. Rathore & W. V. Raman in 2 tests and Sidhu in only one test. taking up from Nathaniel Dharmateja's answer in Quora

Robin is absolutely correct. I don't think there has ever been a time when the BCCI selection committee did not have someone from Mumbai, Delhi or even Karnataka. Despite him being right on most points , there was a time when Karnataka also pulled a lot of influence in the BCCI. It's also worrisome that real talent, goes unnoticed, merely because of politicking and regional biases. Saurashtra beating Mumbai few years ago , probably is indicative of an equalising landscape. I have great respect for ROBIN uthhapa , after this interview. Way more articulate than some poster boys of Indian cricket today.

So the South always needed good influencers, otherwise it has always been difficult for them. Not only North Indians but also West Indians... they get more chances, more opportunities than the South Indians...... a big example of some discontent especially after us Chennaiites feel so bad even today that..... the BCCI which was first formed in the Madras Presidency was taken away and annexed by Mumbaikars 🤨The ideas are always formed in the South but always lifted / taken away by the North and the West! The Southies have greater knowledge of the game.
