Is the relationship within a Muslim marriage similar to modern concepts of equality of the sexes? Or, are women disadvantaged in such relationships? Is there a need for Muslims to rethink some of the patriarchal elements that survive in their marriages? We sit down and get right into this controversial, yet important discussion with Dr. Shabir Ally.

Remember the INTENT of the quran - to teach and spread love and submission to Allah only. If a hadith goes against this, be suspicious. Remember that hadith were narrated by men, many of whom may have wanted to give themselves advantages in controlling their women. Read, understand QURAN and take hadith for what it is- narrations by MEN. Sincere thanks to Dr Ally and his team for educating us. May Allah guide us all. Aameen.

As a woman growing up in Pakistan, I've realized just how much I've been taught Bukhari and how less I've been taught actual the Qur'an. Seriously though. Does that make the Muslims between the time of the prophet and when Bokhari compiled all the hadith inadequate?? What a joke. The argument that you can't understand Qur'an without Bokhari is DUMB. Read the Qur'an and stop overthinking. The scholars will always have a political agenda behind them because their funding is always from some sort of a political party.

Marriage is so overrated I know people who've been together 30 years and they get along better than any Muslim marriage or Christian or Jewish marriage if you're not with your soulmate you're not with the right person besides not everybody is meant to be married the true blessing is not fighting a husband or wife the true blessing is finding your soulmate soulmates are gifts from God and not even Muslim people always find their soulmates soulmates Are for certain people not necessarily Muslims you need more than religion to know what and who is your soulmate thank you

Q: To what extent can we rely on our rationality considering its not always reliable given by examples in human history where an idea was thought as acceptable at a time but then found not acceptable later on. How can we determine what Allah commanded as universal laws for all times vs what isn't. For example, cutting the thieves hands & testimony of women etc.

The thing that you have to understand is this: if someone steals from you, it is not YOUR right to cut that persons hand. It is only YOUR right to contact your local authorities, and your local authorities and your local government would determine what kind of punishment the thief should receive. The Quran is a judicial attempt to prevent individuals from seeking vengence and their own form of punishment for a wrong that was done to them- this Quran is a call to establish a governing system that will attempt to create a better life for the collective. In other words- a lot of what is written in the Quran are rules and laws for governments to implement within their society. Not for individuals to implement. That is why we have things like courts of law and judicial systems and trials- all of those things are Quranic. Now we can put a thief in prison or charge them a fine or both... so there are other means to punish an individual without cutting their hand. If a government throws a thief in jail and charge them a fine, then technically you did cut of their hand ✋

Well im not dr.Ali but i practice islam so im gonna answer it. You can divorce your husband while you are pregnant but you cant remarry until you gave birth, also you don't have to give up all your dowry it depends on your husbands actions if he is abusing you or do horrible things to you, you don't have to gave up all of your dowry. Also your husband OBLIGATED to look after you and your child while you are in breastfeeding period and obiously he must pay the child support until child became stable.

Plus if you are afraid that maybe you cant afford the expenses all by yourself don't worry he have to pay all your needs until the end of breastfeeding periot where there divorce or not. You don't have to give up any of your dowry. That is for cases where there is no valid reason for divorce but just a woman's wish. In Sahih hadith, a woman said she just didn't want to live with a person for no fault of his own and anyone has the right to end a marriage they don't want to be in even without any reason which is better than being unhappy or eg seeking ulawful relations within that marriage. The Quran says about this do NOT take back what you have given them except when you fear you cannot keep within the limits of Allah

One of the biggest lies in Islam is to teach Muslim women they cannot marry non-Muslim men the same way Muslim men can marry non-Muslim women . The single verse used to allow men that option also allow the same option to women. But Islam is as much the reflection of scholars‘ opinions as it is grounded in the Quran. As such the religion is highly reflective of human flaws: insecurity, obsession with control, political agendas, tendencies of social supremacy, misogyny. Islam would benefit more from abiding to the Quran, minimizing the Muslim’s overly dependence on the scholars. As far as what is clearly observable, too many Muslims indulge in pure intellectual consumerism and believe themselves inadequately equipped to produce their own thoughts. I enjoyed this speaker‘s perspective though. He sounds balanced and decent. Great show!

uh no. at this point ur trying to change and start innovation. also most scholars agree that today, muslim men shouldn’t marry christian jewish women, especially after the altercations and the different culture that’s changed around those religions. in Christianity women used to wear the hijab, for example. The Quran says both men and women should marry believers, but that verse ab marrying Jews and Christians to men came after the diaspora of them after war and women looking for protection, all scholars say it’s much better to marry a pe acting muslim, especially since most Jews and Christians don’t practice their religion correctly, and the prophet said it’s haram and unlawful for a man to marry a women who believes Jesus is God
@delpthepath127
@delpthepath127 3 года назад
@@momay2670 You’re making things up as you go. You follow scholars’ opinions or the commands in the Quran? At some point, you have to become more consistent. What’s the verse that says that about Christians that believe Jesus is God? It’s interesting to see how people maneuver their way into serving men while convincing themselves they’re serving God. So now things in the Quran don’t mean what they meant before? Why would the reduction in number of Christians and Jews not truly practicing their faith change the statement in the Quran? Many Muslims aren’t practicing Muslims either. The reality is that there are many inconsistencies in the practice of the religion. It’s hard to figure out who you actually serve-God or men? It’s also peculiar that you’d complain about Christians believing Jesus is God while being totally ok that your salvation depends on a mere man who has sinned and is dead more than a thousand years ago. Religious dogmas truly require that people put aside their ability to think rationally in order to accept them. I personally do not believe Jesus to be the God. But that’s irrelevant to the matter at hand. The Quranic verse is clear. If anyone can be accused of inventions it’s the scholars and those that follow them over the very book they’re claiming to be directly from God- what a contradiction!

The point about the divorce thing, that men can divorce more easily than women. That's because the man has to pay a dowry to the woman at the time of marriage. A woman can want a significant amount and once a couple of months go by and she can divorce the man immediately, then she can walk away with the money. Later she can marry another man, get a dowry at the time of marriage and then divorce a little later down the line and walk away with the money again. She can make an income out of marrying and divorcing, which is wrong. So Islam is correct when it makes it more difficult to divorce for a woman.

The Dr is correct- 1. The Quran has to be our primary resource 2. We need to apply those principles within the Quran in Light of our current society. It just isn't possible to implement the Quran in the same exact way the Prophet did 1450 years ago. Society is evolving- the Quran is Universal- so the Quran doesn't change but the way in which the Quran is implemented has to change. And leave the ahadiths alone- Islam has reverted back to the age of ignorance because of the contradictory nonsense that is found in them. We waste so much time trying to decipher which ahadiths are authentic and which ones are inauthentic, instead of using the principles in the Quran to progress our societies. All the Ahadiths are conjecture.

Simple Answer: Rules for thee and not for me. Islam is Mohammed Vice. Good lord Jesus was sinfree. Jesus never sinned or was married. Showing possible to serve God without sin. Mohammed sinned a lot and framed his entire religion to suite him and convince other men under him. If you all really claim Jesus was a prophet then become a Christian. But you all don't want Sinfreeness you want sinfulness. : "When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: GO, And Sin NO More. 12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. KJV. 8;10-12

A scholars is ashamed You know now in Islam Everyone is a scholars including yourself Nothing special Cox all of them are human and all of them are portraying what the understand by what the quran and hadiths mean Only the Arabs understand words of all sort Cox the know the meaning One thing is during interpretation and understanding alot of words could be different Cox the can't be exactly some time is hard to find a word to replace some of the arabic words I think the Arab should be in place to do that🤫
