IN THIS WEEKS VIDEO..
IS IT A PIKE OR A GABLE 🤔?...CONSERVATORY TO EXTENSION PT 10
WE FINALLY GET TO FINISH THE EXTENSION AFTER OVER A MONTH.
THE LADS HAVE SET THE ROOF OUT FOR US SO WE CAN PUT UP A ROOF BATTERN AND SET A LINE UP TO FOLLOW FOR THE PITCH OF THE ROOF.
WE DO THE BLOCK WORK OVERHAND THEN RUN IN THE FACE WORK.
IT FELT GREAT TO ACTUALLY GET FINISHED... ENJOY 🧱👍🏽

Good effort there guys racing the sun there, like the way your working we'll & in consideration of the other trades. When I find my forever home I hope I can find builders like you (I'm not up North 😏). A Pike is a fish with a large mouth, a Gable end is part of the house. A pike is a weapon with a sharp tip, so Pike brickwork finishes at the roof in a point ? My guess, I'm not a brickie, or in the construction industry.😏

I call it gables up to soffit height, then peens after that..... i am in Scotland, and we're 90% building kit house, so I'm not sure if it's different traditional builds

@@jazzyjeff1516 As a very approximate guide you should budget between £1,500 - to - £2,500 per square metre. Dependent on specification & type. Planning permission is as Steve has already said. Always check with your local planning office.

@SteveAndAlexBuild I'm old school on many things but a scaffold is good for you, the chippies and roofers. Find a good firm and it doesn't cost much. Health and safety are shutting down people working on bandstand where I live. I no 2 people who have had very bad accidents falling off with out a scaffold

Good morning Steve and Alex, hope you are both well and brilliant work as always. Well I am old school and from up north in Yorkshire, I have always known the pike is very top part (pointy part) of the gable. So the bulk of the brickwork is the gable and the last couple of courses is the pike. 🧱👍🤜
