The state has a book out titled, "One of the Fifty is Missing". It's about all the stories of people not thinking NM is a state. I had a store in NY want more info on my card because it was "issued outside of the United States". It was issued by the Wells Fargo Bank at 2nd and Lomas in downtown Abq.
I moved from NM to RI for awhile. All the old Italian ladies said they were really impressed with my English and asked for how long my visa was good. Side note: Hanging out with little old Italian ladies from RI is very entertaining. They have some wild stories to tell.
I just got back from New Mexico my nephew graduated college! I could not believe that when I went to Target there were two arm guards at the door! Proceeded to go to Walgreens where everything and I mean everything is locked up behind plexiglass with a lock! Everything is locked up I couldn't believe it!! ✌🏻
I appreciate what this guy is trying to do but as a native of Albuquerque this is absolutely the worst place to raise a family. Last in education last in childhood well being ect. It's a decent place if you're already in a relationship, not so much for single folks. It's actually the worst place to date in the country period.
There are worse places to raise a family. I think you could get a good education here depending on the schools you attend and how much you want to learn.
You should have thought about that before you made a career out of voting for politicians who are lenient on crime. You're the reasons ABQ is a sh*t hole
Been here all my life, be very careful here in Albuquerque NM... In the last 3 years is amongst the most dangerous cities hands down,... I ve seen more of crime tape and bodies in 2019 -2023 I'm traumatized, I ve got PTSD Albuquerque NM is very very very very very very very dangerous..... homicides every day ...
All big cities have their good and bad parts of town. Some worse than others of course. In general, society and civility is in decay in America. As the economy worsens with inflation and recession/depression, then its very important to be aware of your surroundings and where you go.
@@AllAboutABQ No. In Utah but travel through NM once a year on my way to Texas to visit my daughter. I was actually born in Las Cruces. Parents moved when I was 3. My wife and I are touring NM next week to see various Indian sites (national monuments) and to camp.
I've lived here now for 15 years and its no different than any other city. There's good and bad areas of town and if you avoid the bad? Your chances of crime finding you go down 90%.. The weather alone is worth living here!!
Kansas City is actually the scary place. It’s like Albuquerque times seven was born in Albuquerque but I spent a few years in Kansas City among other places, and let me tell you the amount of times I was chased down the street by people and dogs the amount of large holes in the road that I fell into The amount of literal sticks of TNT, catapulted into the air, only to explode above my apartment complex by the neighbors was unparalleled in Kansas City. In Kansas City on the Missouri side, a man literally pursued me all the way to the police station for the cops to then tell me that he must’ve just thought I was his friends. The party times in Kansas City can be great but living there was an absolute nightmare. I’d rather stay on Central and juantabo , then Troost and Harrison any day
Good to see new a new upload! This vid focused mostly on higher end neighborhoods, but I'm a younger dude looking to move to abq, probably most interested in renting in neighborhoods from nob hill/downtown/old town area. Any info on crime around there? Is it a given that my car will be broken into lol.
You'll be seeing a lot of homeless people since that's right on central and you don't wanna be out or parked on central passed 7 pm bro. Unless you have a garage
@@silogaming457 It sounds like you may live in the area I'm also thinking of moving to Albuquerque from out of state what areas do you recommend Rio Rancho? Or bernallio? I can't afford much but I don't want to be in the war zone as I've discovered. If you don't reply it's OK
@@DavidBrown-hn4fl so Berna has a lot of farm land. It's about 20 minutes out from the city. It's going through a lot of construction right now so it could have a lot of development in the next few years. Rio Rancho is a decent place. There's some houses for cheap on that side but you get what you pay for. I'd invest a bit more for a better quality build house in my opinion. If you wanna be right in the middle of the city I would stick to places not too high on the mountains since like he was explaining, it gets crazy expensive. So just below that area really.
I have done armed security for 17 years in Albuquerque and I can tell you first hand no one should leave home without a sidearm on them. Would love to interview with you.
@@AllAboutABQ I have seen up close and first hand how bad it is getting. Back when it was cocaine and meth people had some since of moral compass. Once fentynal came about there was no longer any moral code. Our society is changing for the worst and we need to change our leadership. We need leaders and judges who will hold these criminals accountable
New Mexico peaked in 1994, I grew up in Hobbs lived in las cruces and my parents moved to Albuquerque 20 years ago, I do like the NW near the petroglyphs but yes crime has exponentially gotten worse the past 15 years.
Agree I live near the petroglyphs at taylor ranch. One of the last good pockets in town. But you only have to go a little north to Unser and paradise before things rapidly turn to crap. Also just south of me at montano/kachina and moving south it progressively turns to crap again. Mostly property crimes but increasingly see more homicides on the west side now. Allot of police have homes on the west side so that should say something. Really really bad leadership in the state. The Gov and mayor's catch and release policy is a failure. Instead of coddling these scum bags they need to install stiff deterrents. Its frustrating.
@@HiPlains1 what? I moved here 3 months ago and I’m near paradise and universe and everything I’ve seen is very nice. I do gig work, so I’ve seen a lot in a short time. I’ve lived in many other cities and ABQ seems as nice as any as far as good and bad areas
Is there much of a differnce in crime rate between Albuquerque and Santa Fe? Im a 32 year old Canadian women looking to stay for a few months. I was living in Central and South America and craved more safety. I'm starting to reconsider NM
The neighborhoods that I get scared when I drive through are Martenez Town, Barelas, San Jose, The International District...I know that there are more, but I just stay safe in my little corner of the Far NE Heights ❤
My mom told me this story it was when she was in high school and it was late at night she was on second street and just stopped at a stop light so the one person ahead of her and when the light turned green the person ahead of her did not go. She said something in the back of her head told her not to honk and so she waited like 10 minutes and multiple light cycles then the car eventually took off. She then said a could of years later she was reading this news story about a gang what would stop at stop lights and won’t go on green and it the person behind them honked then they would shoot them.
I love Albuquerque and miss it dearly, but I do not miss the crime rates. The local government has failed so many vulnerable and at risk people. One of my personal horror stories is my principal at my elementary school found out her husband-a principal at the adjacent high school-was having an affair so she tried to run him over with her truck and constantly harassed and threatened the secretary he was having the affair with. She wasn’t fired for this, but a few years later she was fired for posting pictures of herself drinking at a party. Priorities, I guess
I've lived here in ABQ/Rio Rancho for 24 years. I've been lucky and only had one police interaction because a thief tried to still my scooter. Albuquerque has an amazing charm. Yes. Criminals destroy that charm.
@@AllAboutABQ No, I have never been there before. I'm in southern Idaho and I'm not feeling it. I was looking at Wyoming and I researched that state and after snow, wind, bears, and bears, wind, snow I decided to switch gears and search for warmer pastures. I want to live somewhere fun for a change.
Don't go East of Las Cruces. You'll end up in the Plains. No water and you start heading into tornado country. Check out Chama. Maybe Edgewood or Cedar Crest... But they get snow and bears.
Cities change. Used to be very nice in Abq. I lived there 15 years. When i seen it was changing for the worse, we moved out. Still miss the food tho. 🤗
I work security in Albuquerque, the worst part is the way the PD chooses what they enforce. They ignore people smoking fentanyl across from the police station, but will go after you if you're drinking root beer out of a paper bag
A 34-year-old Albuquerque man visiting relatives in the Los Angeles area was found shot to death Saturday night in Pacoima, police said. Ramon Garcia was sprawled on the front seat of his car when his body was discovered in the 1300 block of Fillmore Street, Lt. Bernard Conine said. The victim died after being repeatedly shot in the chest, police said.

Nob Hill has been revitalized and has a lot of condos to attract 'the creative class'. Lots of restaurants and bars. The Ridgecrest neighborhood is very nice and has shady streets and is close by, but those houses are hardly ever for sale. Nob Hill is expensive for renting or buying because it's close to UNM. No supermarket, but they have an expensive co-op. It's kind of like living near Brown, but a little fake because it's so new. They're trying to build up their vibe. They're going off the Route 66 nostalgia. It's working somewhat.
I’ve actually had more trouble in Santa Fe. Robbed twice, with a 3rd attempt that thankfully something scared them off. The second robbery was complete. Took everything that was worth anything. I don’t buy nice things anymore. If there’s any question, I live in a nice area, one residence per acre. Never had that kind of trouble in Abq.
I was planning on visiting Albuquerque for a weekend because I like to travel around. All these videos talked me clean out of it 😂Thank you so much for the video. I’ll never visit that place. Cheers 🍻
I heard gunshots outside my house one hour before watching this. And this happens all the time and I live in the North Valley. My husband and I were thinking about baling and were looking for some acreage and found a house near Mora, but right after that Mora burned down. :(

"why is ABQ the worst place to live" The WAR ZONE is the key FBI and national Swat combat training ground. New Mexico, we are number one or third for worst of pick a thing.
Albuquerque is great if you want to commit crime, other than that it’s trash. Pitch a tent and enjoy catch and release. Or go out of town and avoid the zombies.
@@AllAboutABQ I would vote for a potato over the current administration. We need sanity, and law and order. So I’m voting for a clean slate in November.
Lindo on Central is a great restaurant for lunch. Everyone was nice, & the food was fantastic last time we stayed in Abq. ...but I grew up in SW Phx / Maryvale & my wife's fam is from Compton / LB, so I recognize the signs it's not the safest spot after dark. Just gotta show respect & stay alert, don't fool with peeps if they feel off, & keep some metal tucked in case you can't walk away. Property crime shouldn't deter anyone, cause it's only stuff, & the people who steal are suffering from our deseased society. Be insured & press your govt to fix our systemic issues of inequities.
Albuquerque is one great big beautiful ghetto - I don't care where or what side of town you live in - it's all ghetto. That being said, I do love it here. A few caveats: don't move here if you have elementary school age children, this state is seriously behind by like 2 or 3 grade levels. Be on guard and aware of your surroundings at all times. Rent at first to get a feel for the neighborhood & quadrant at large. When you do decide to buy, consider an HOA community, unless you like run-down looking houses surrounded by weeds & vehicles parked on the landscaping looking all like Sanford & Son. So true about the grocery store & the quality of neighborhood - we drive 15 miles across town just to avoid the Smith's & Albertson's stores 4 miles away - like night & day (btw Walmart is ghetto everywhere in this city) When we first moved here from the East Coast, I was telling my boss & co-workers where the house was we moved into, she said "yOu liKE iT tHeRe?!?" - eventually we purchased a house not far from there. Had I known a few of the things I know now, not sure I would have moved here 15 years ago but on the other hand, we have no regrets moving here - IT'S ALL WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT. Great Video as always, Skip!
That is why the parents should spend time teaching their children and not depend on the teachers because they have so many kids to one teacher usually and the kids get behind because they aren't getting the help they need. Some schools are better than others like private schools

That's really unfortunate for that young man but fortunate at the same time because he would not deserve to pay all that money to fix that damage. Very informative thank you for sharing
After working some years in law enforcement in one of America's largest departments, I decided I needed a change. I decided to move, and I did not choose Albuquerque. I avoided Albuquerque because I am a native of the city, and even in my grandfather's day (he graduated from Albuquerque High School in the 30's), crime and violence were major problems. Where could I go which was modern, safe, clean, where I could find a decent job, and which had a low cost of living? I chose Tokyo, Japan. Zero crime, zero drugs, zero violence, almost zero homelessness. The food is good here (Tokyo has more Michelin Star restaurants than the entire United States combined), there are mountains, beaches, rivers, subtropical islands, just amazing natural beauty. The infrastructure is modern, public transportation is efficient, cheap, and safe, the people are friendly, and the society is not polarized or divided socially or politically. It's a great place to live. I visit Albuquerque on occasion, there are a few things I like about it, but I wouldn't want to live there.
I was busted for a possession charge in Alb. Apon arriving at the station downtown the cop asked me if I had anything else on me . When I told him I had some weed in my boot ,he took it out and replied this shit smells really good then put it underneath the seat and took me in
Moving closer to the mountains is not a better place to live. I say the North West side is a good place to live. Also the North Valley is a wonder place to reside. The heights is over rated for sure. Living on the Westside or Rio Rancho is beautiful. You will have an amazing view of the Sandia Mountains.
My parents used to live in Sandia heights. Great neighborhood. I currently live in probably the best area of Taylor ranch. My street is all custom homes on large lots. My lot is .4 acre which is huge for the area. Lived here since 1989 but I'm ready to leave next year. Current leadership is turning this town into another portland or oakland. The gov only cares about keeping people on welfare, medicaid, and disability because in short, that is her base. 4 more years of this shit and ABQ is toast. Is declining at a rapid rate. Keller just wants to coddle all these thugs. I'm so sick of this city now. I might look you up when I list my house since its valued over half million now and your down on riverside plaza I believe.
BeardGawd, there are not too many options for rent to own currently. Most sellers are able to sell their properties the conventional way due to high demand!
Why isnt everyone i n Albuquerque, slinging ,whole pizzas on there roofs...make a night of it...oh yeaahhh..lived in Albuquerque, for 6 months, went to Eldorado high school..big culture shock, and it was like going to a small university. .lived right at the foothills of the sandias..hadda great view of the tramway..anywho!!! Thats was quite a long time ago nice video on Albuquerque.. ..
I live in a house in 87111. Great area but expensive to buy. It's just under 1800 square feet, 3 beds, 2 baths, single level, refrigerated air. I've never paid over $200 a month for electric. My electric, water, and gas average under $450 a month, less in winter since l don't have to water the grass. Hope this helps.
avoid the south valley like the plague , also any downtown areas, but to be fair downtown areas are bad all over America. Dont own a Hyndai or KIA, dont park a UHAUL at any ABQ hotel.
I network with Non-Profits. If it's in the South Valley, I pass the buck to 6'5 dudes from the hood. I'm not going there. Reminds me of the time my car broke down at 2:00 am in Oakland. Not doing it. South Valley on the west side of the river can be nice though.
Could you please stop referring to Sprouts as the "Poor Man's Whole Foods?" I shop at both, but I shop at Sprouts more often, and I can tell you that it's definitely not cheap. Just FYI. 😊
Avoid living around downtown area where the homeless and drug addicts live. Avoid SE especially where the houses and yards are not well maintained. You have to live in SW where there is an active HOA and Community is well maintained. Generally NW and NE are good choices but are more expensive.

I'm sorry to say that Albuquerque is even dangerous for people living honest lives. A few years ago a man followed me with a gun while driving, it's by the grace of God that I didn't become a statistic in 2019. A few weeks ago, I observed a smash and grab operation with roughly 30 people at the Kohl's at Coronado mall- DO NOT go there at night! And just last night as I was thinking that I lived in the most quiet safe street in the city, I woke up to 50 gun shots across the street from my house at midnight. The cops blocked off our entire street, saw blood and broken glass on the ground. Apparently there was a scuffle across the street, a car broken into and stolen, and gun shots probably used to scare the other person off. I've been planning on leaving Albuquerque for months even though I was born and raised here and my entire family lives here, and this just solidified my decision. I really do pray things change for Albuquerque.

Albuquerque was in top 10 I think it was for being the worst in car thefts a few years ago …there’s been alot more road rage incidents etc. and alot of irresponsible drivers …it’s been said year after year it is of the worse cities in the US for bad drivers so I’m sure there is a good amount of other cities or even another countries to raise a family in not only that there’s not a hole lot to do out here …I know there’s alot of alcoholics that pack the bars and clubs up otherwise if u like fishing camping hiking in the mountains there’s not much else to do out here 🤷🏻♂️sorry not trying to be negative but I’m just stating the obvious …
I live in Albuquerque and it’s the most boring state there is lol there’s nothing to do people here go down town on Saturday and Sundays driving around the streets and the cops close’s the streets jajaja the worse part of Albuquerque is from San Mateo all the way up to Juan taboo there’s a lot of homeless and it’s called the War zone
Bro I just came through there and holy cow that place should be given to Mexico and let's just all move on. Perfect example of what democrats can do to a city if let loose. A cop came up to me and said you ain't from around here are you? I said no why and he said that car on your trailer will get stolen. Told me to go stay in edgewood. Cop literally saved my property that night. If I was a criminal I'd hate cops too. So if more and more people hate the people shooting criminals and upholding the law then it's proof there are becoming more criminals than non. Every city has great safe areas but that place is questionable if they even exist. Feel sorry for the police there. Btw the cop told me he's got 1 year till retirement and he hopes he makes it. Good guy in a bad place.
Sorry but why dont you interview the people actually in the poor community youre honestly you’re hardly talking about dangerous things you should make a video inside the inner communities and see the difference. If you’re scared take a guard or something. Thank you for your videos though you showed me things about Albuquerque I never knew about and I lived here since I was 8 I’m 23 now!
ABQ is a wonderful place to live, as far as crime is concerned always b on your guard, have a 12 gauge handy & a rottweiler for companion and you will be ok, stay away from drugs, and gangs and u r ok
