@@hyoxxii 100% I usually refer to it as the grey market. Which is a term I'm more familiar with. Anyways I've actually been shopping around for a 3RS and grey market prices are ludicrous. I came across 2-3 fairly close to me listed in between 480 - 580 ish thousand $ CAD. Which is stupid. Although it's either that or potentially have my local dealer tell me I'll need spend at least a million $ (probably more) tbh in cars that I don't want just to get the one I do want. Ahh, first world problems haha.
@@kevinkenny5663 It’s like EBay just for Cars. So people who got their Porsche Gt3 Rs can sell it to you through a car dealership which is not officially Porsche for example. But the problem is people sell it for double the price they paid themselves directly from Porsche. It’s like with a Rolex. You can buy it from Rolex directly but you gotta wait 2-3 years or you buy it from a watch dealer without a waiting list but you pay significantly more.

@@leerblizzz4688you clearly don’t understand how supply and demand works if you bring it in situations like this. If less tomatoes are in market prices will go high, seems like that’s not the problem for the rich because people buy cars in $3M range. Even scarcity doesn’t fit here, why: Matt Watson recently waited for the same car for few months and he took it home few days back. He has never bought 10 Porsches not even 5 in his life.
Supply and demand, these vehicles are sold in very limited quantities so that it appreciates in value over time. And I’m sure there are hella richer and more connected people than that guy wanting to buy it. Like Jay Leno
Obviously, you probably never drove any Porsche and you don't understand a passion for perfection?? LOL. There's a reason they cost that much, have high demand and the resale value is astronomical.
True but in a sense they already got the lifetime value outta that guy. If they kept things 100 with him the chance of him buying 8 more cars from them was rather low and would likely take over a decade. Whereas here even if they burned the bridge they sold him more cars than he likely would’ve ever bought all at once

@@IReallyLikeCoffee Yeah but realize from a dealers perspective it’s better to sell more of the low end models because the high end ones are hard even for the dealers to get and will literally sell themselves
Whats going on here is that they are selling a desirable quality product that people actually want to buy. Price is no problem. The problem is there are only so many cars, and far too many millionaires.
@@captain_context9991 You missed the entire point of this comment. He was making reference to the fact that "Ferrari" has been using this exact sales technique for years, requiring people to buy several cars they don't want before they can get on the wait-list for the one they do want. Now you know.
@@dynomantar9733 No, no, no... This is mostly American BS and American myth and fairytale. Nobody is gonna "force you" to buy things you dont want. But this whole process is extremely difficult for Americans to understand... MANY THINGS are extremely difficult to explain to americans. Such as climate change, evolution and healthcare. And that their F-22 is a failure, and no... US police are NOT "highly trained"... I could go on and on. The thing Americans simply WILL NOT understand, is that if Ferrari are making 500 units, or 499, then that is a symbolic thing they have always done to always sell fewer cars than the demand. This is unthinkable for the American corporate structure. What, NOT selling a product to a paying customer?? Imagine if Ford really had bought Ferrari back in the 1960s. There would be entrylevel Ferraris based on Fords, the Italian link would be fazed out, and Ferrari would today be just a yellow sticker they put on "Premium" Fords. Which is all thats left of the Shelby name and logo. So... If they are making only 500, or even 1000 cars, but 5000 people WANT them, well then there arent going to be enough cars, are there. Its pretty simple math. So to be a "Prefieri" As Italians call it, you have to be a loyal customer of the brand. And have a great relationship with the dealership. Simple, isnt it. There is no specific list of stuff they "make you" buy. This is an American misconception. If the dealership doesn't like you, or thinks you are an unpleasant grifter, or think you just want to flip it for quick money, well then they are WELL within their rights to NOT sell you a god damn car. Ford did the same thing, actually even worse, with the Ford GT.
The client is a fool. As a self-made millionaire, I've learned to trust no-one, NO-ONE; always get in in writing, with break clauses, costs, timelines and penalties. If they won't give you that; just walk away.
Most of these dealers aren't even the real decision makers, the only thing they can do is be the one to call a client if someone is trying to sell theirs at a great deal. It's usually guys a bit higher up that choose who to allocate those special cars to.
@@daveam3r I'm not sure that's the case though, when you represent a brand as a franchise or whatever, there are certain things you must adhere to such as guidelines, the overall rules, certain aspects of their operations etc... otherwise their agreement with Porsche can be terminated regardless of if they're privately owned or not.
Whats the lie? Just because people dont understand this, doesnt make this a lie. People who are porsche collectors. People that have been on a list for years.. THEY get to buy the cars first. It's the same at almost every other high end dealership. Say you have two douchebags. One buys a Porsche every year, often the top end with bells and whistles. Maybe he buys a couple extra for staff bonuses or his shitty kids. Then you have douchebag two. He has one Porsche that he trades in every other year, then buys a few lower end models. Douchebag one is giving Porsche a million a year, douchebag two is giving them 250k. They make 10 gt3's a year(no idea really but let's say). It's better to keep your extremely rich client happy every year rather than have a one off sale to make a guy happy. They sell products, this idiot bought them en masse.
Never believe a dealer. Call head office and ask them. They will tell you which dealers can or still have allocation. I could get information without being a buyer, therefore a serious buyer will get proper information.

Well, Ferrari’s don’t have the prestige a Porshe has, and also getting a Ferrari is not that much of a big deal if you have the money to spend. Owning a Porshe is not about having the money to afford it.
@@RA-fb5szFerrari is a more prestigious brand than Porsche, they're the most successful team in the pinnacle of motorsport racing, they have good amount victories at Le Mans as well. It's definitely true. Go to a dealer and try to buy a gt3 rs and see what happens. They probably won't even sell you a 911 turbo much less a gt3 rs as a first time walk in customer.
The problem is that Porsche only produces an extremely limited number of them each year. This means the car dealer gets the allocation from Porsche for 2-3 GT3s this year. The dealer now has to decide who he will sell it to. He has many long-term customers with countless purchases and then the person mentioned in the video comes forward who apparently has never bought a Porsche there. Of course, he first has to build up trust and loyalty, which countless other potential buyers have already done
The dealership finessed the shit outta him. I’m pretty sure u have to own a Porsche, Porsche watch and be a known client at your Porsche house. Then the chances are pretty high, that you can get one. What I don’t get is. A guy bought 8 Porsches instead of flying to Germany or contact a Porsche house in Germany and do business with them..
This is why you find an owner and offer them more than they paid. At least if they say yes, you actually get the car. No dealer BS. I’ve never bought from a dealer and I don’t think I will.

How exactly? At least with Ferrari, they allocate a car after having bought so many cars from them. Porsche just screws their vip customers by selling the car to whoever pays a huge dealer markup.
I think Porsche didn't manipulate him, but rather it's the salesperson. It's because the sales gets commisions when they sell a car and this is just a cheeky trick to get many cars sold.
After buying outright or financing 8 vehicles and creating sales and revenue and commissions for the sales guy and dealer, it is pretty pathetic that they couldn't or wouldn't do the guy a solid and secure a Gt3rs ..I'm pretty sure there are enough made 1 for atleast 1 dealer. Most likely they've lost a long term customer and future porsche enthusiast..if this really happened horrible on them!
When I hear someone say “We promise…” in a vehicle transaction, I want it in writing. If I was required to own 10 different vehicles prior, I would also want a qualification that states, “In the event that the promise cannot be fulfilled, all purchases made as a requirement will be refunded and the cars returned at the original agreed price”
Marc Mccan tried to get one too, finnaly he realized its too dificult and expensive in the traditional way and flipped his Lamborghini Urus for a gt3 rs with a reseller.
