To all the comments about expensive and high prices: The Norwegian Krone (NOK) has gone to shits lately, so it is not as bad for foreigners anymore! 😂🎉 Good time for a visit! 👍
YES! Right after the ad I immediately went to see if it was even attainable for us! Great news for us Americans right now 😹 I have ALWAYS wanted to go to Norway (and frankly, live there). Woohoo! 🎉
Exactly, coming from Switzerland I was surprised how much cheaper it is now. I remember 10 years ago and it was obscene. Not it’s cheaper than most major capitals in Europe and US. Still not cheaper, but totally normal compared to a major European city. (But don’t recommend coming to Switzerland, here only got worse and CHF is super appreciated).
I was in Oslo for two days last Feb and I did the EXACT SAME as in this video - swimming in the middle of the city, walking across the whole city, eating at the restaurant with no reservation, and THE SCREAM for sure. 10/10. Next time, in summer with a thicker wallet. Please don't change.
I was honestly surprised that in US there is a lot of places, where you need a reservation, like I look at the place, it's half empty and doesn't even look like something fancy and you come there and "do you have a reservation?", did I even need one??
People always complain about Scandis not having a sense of humour. What they don't realise, is that Scandi humour is often extremely subtle, ironic and dead-pan. Jokes won't go over your head, they'll flow through you like a spectre, leaving you confused and weirded out 😂
I've a Finnish friend. Thirty years ago, he once said "Laugh, don't smile. Hah Hah Hah..." with a perfectly serious straight face. I still wake up at night trying to figure out what it means🙃
I was lucky enough to visit Oslo for 1.5 months last year and I’ve been telling people it’s my favorite city ever since. This video is the PERFECT encapsulation of everything I loved about it. Literally started googling “what jobs are in demand in Oslo” right after watching this 😂. Love the humor too.
Oslo is one of my favorite cities. Charming, beautiful, accessible, clean, orderly and interesting. And the opera house, wow. People were a bit distant but there are cultural differences, sure.
Now I am anxious that this commercial is so convincing that Oslo will become a tourist destination and be overcrowded and exclusive like Paris or New York
This won't be the case because the tourists come in July, which so happens to be the month that Norwegians leave the country for the summer. Thus, there is no net gain in crowdiness.
Idk man 😂 I get the bad Architecture joke but I see all of China's new tech and fashion & it all looks like American Instagram aesthetics and fashion 😂 China's students literally came to study in USA cause it's easy for them, they saw all the kids in Bright white Nikes, and all the American trends. Now all their new Architecture looks like bright white iPhone batteries 😂 All their children even dress like American Instagrammers We literally watch the globe laugh at us ,or call us fat, WHILE being dressed like American music trends and fashion and influences😂 And it's always all late too!
Oh, was not aware of that. I thought he said it to put a stark contrast to his experience in Oslo, as Istanbul is very big and crowded. But this reference is subtle, haha.
"I grew up here and... I temporarily live here" - and he's 31 !! LOL And the next great moment is right after that when he says "Unfortunately" while he doesn't register the beauty in front of him !! Hahahah... Great job people, great job! Been watching this for few days and can't get bored! And at the end, about the relationship, should it be easy or not... ?? Who did this masterpeace?
This came up on my home page randomly. 0 regrets. Londoner here, would absolutely love to visit Oslo sometime! I think Norway's got some beautiful traits about it, just never taken the time to actually visit!
Not really. This is all filmed in specific areas of the city center recently built as a vanity project in the middle of the day when people are at work or something. Doesn't show the beggars at every subway stop or the drug addicts at the train station or the dealers of a certain complexion along the river
@@16m49x3 Jesus the utter blatant lies in your comment is hilarious. Oslo isn't what this idiot says, if you walk around the city center or Bycicle it's pretty much like this advert. Never felt safer in a city and getting into places or getting a table for a meal is as simple as this advert often times. Don't believe these racist hate filled garbage comments.
@@16m49x3True, but that isn’t stuff that you will put on a channel that is trying to create tourism obviously. They will always try to paint the destination from its best angle.
The way the message is conveyed in this video uses a satirical method, where the speaker uses humor, irony and hyperbole to convey their criticism. This is done by conveying the city's shortcomings through exaggerated and comparative comparisons with other major cities such as New York or Paris. This approach is effective in making the audience think critically about what makes the city of Oslo such a valuable and special experience. 👏
This is such a cool commercial! Loving the humor! I have been living in Oslo for 5 years, and have been making videos about life Norway, and I have to say this video is brilliant, made me laugh!❤ Congrats to the creators!
None of us want to feel at home when abroad, so personally i would love such a place. 3 decades back it looked similar, a bit darker but certainly lively. With so much elapsed, would love to visit again. Drobak, Tofte , the Fjords and much more….
At Aker Brygge yesterday, our family of four walked right into Jarmann Gastropub for a great fish and chips lunch and ASIA for a fabulous dinner just as explained in the ad - and we are not even famous 😊. We almost went hungry at some other countries because we did not have reservations.
I had two traineeships in Oslo almost 50 years ago, and I visited it later. The only think I do not like is the new Munch Museum, the old one was more appropriate for. I would visit Oslo again, because of the city itself and the commercial, quite successful. Yes, and I met the King on the streets.
I've been to Oslo, and it is indeed expensive. I've walked halfway across Izmir at night, and it was perfectly safe, bustling and cheap. Amsterdam the city where I felt the least safe. Excellent commercial! I've been sharing it to people who have been, and people who are planning to go.
@@maksymushka Hello Mr or Ms Maksymushka. The easily guessable reasons. I'll remove the comment, since it implies that I think Amsterdam is unsafe. Just the least safe of any of the cities that I have visited. But that is relative. I have never set foot in the States, nor do I plan to, because of its reputation as an unsafe country.
@@maksymushka There are people living there who are in desperate circumstances and commit crimes. There are everywhere, I suppose. But I never felt unsafe in Moscow, for example. I've never travelled outside of my home country, Europe, and then Moscow outside Europe.
5-10 years ago I wouldn't have recommended Oslo as a tourist destination (lived here my entire life), but now I totally would. Especially in the summer half of the year, or let's say, late april to early october.
1:23 Love that Halfdan was playing CHESS on his phone! Norway boasts the most powerful man in the world: Magnus Carlson. Also, recently, the world youth champion.
I just returned from this magnificent Ho-hum village and felt like crying when I had to leave. I must be one low class snob as I keep returning as often as I can.
Coming from NYC, I can’t tell you just how much I love this ad :). And it actually DOES make me want to visit Oslo now. Like it made me genuinely curious. :)
OK stay with me with what I'm about to say: this is a terrible tourism commercial, because... it doesn't make me want to *visit* Oslo, it makes me want to *move* there permanently!
Beautiful city ! Almost any place is 10 minutes from beautiful woods and in Summer so weird to have a walk inside them at 4 am or 10 pm without a lantern. Is not a city, is not a village, it is Oslo ! Nothing like it.
Unbearable in the winter, but Amazing in the summer! White wine, 25C, a gentle breeze from the fjord and daylight sun at 22.30 in the evening. Oslo is the perfect summer climate and is far enough north to almost have the midnight sun. That is M A G I C.
