Love Nissan of old but the B58 engine is vastly superior and can be easily tuned with mhd. The engine was also near bullet proof prior to the updates for the 2021. If you're going to buy and tune a MKV then get the 2020 until the ecu is unlocked for the 2021 or they sort out the oil issue, possibly in a 2022 model.
@@rembo183 that's not a flaw imo, I owned several MK7's, 10's of 370Z's, S2K's and several other german sport cars, When my friend asked me to go test drive the MK5 with him he intentionally asked me to hop in so that I bang my head, I actually didn't know abt this roof edge thing yet I hopped in just smoothly fine without even touching it, Once you're used to sports cars you'd just bow down while entering without any issues, its a matter of being familiar to entering/exiting these toys! Might be different a bit for tall or huge guys but for me it was just normal
@@tareqjawdat6401 - So you’re lucky you didn’t bang your head!😊. I would probably not do it again! I do like the styling of the Supra and the way it drives- the power and handling is sublime. My main reservation is the lack of a manual transmission! I’m hoping Toyota fixes that next year. It’s one pedal away from greatness!😊.
Wind buffeting is the opposite of a major problem... engine/trans is a major problem. Wind buffeting is about as minor as a problem can be and is very easily and cheaply resolved.
Honestly… sooo many reviews mark down the Supra for its buffeting problem when in reality that would be a practically nothing to fix. Albeit it’s something that shouldn’t have been overlooked but it really isn’t as damning as people make it out to be
And this is why Sports Cars are disappearing. Instead of helping the Vehicle Manufacturer by getting he vehicle new, and also with a discount. Wait on when they stop making them to get them used .
I find it funny alot of yall finding the most smallest things to bash the new Supra over. Its an overall great car and I have met some supra owners at various car meets and they love the car despite minor issues, they say its fun to drive and find exciting to take on backroads. Most owners I met have also told me they get alot of compliments too so that lets me know most of this hate on the 2020-2021 Supra is mainly online car enthusiasts..... If I can manage I will try to get a Toyota Supra as my 2nd car im impressed with it.
The Huge problem with BMW Vehicles is the use of Plastic for various internal and external components which have costly failures...That isn't the Toyota Way of Reliability/Durability and i doubt that during development were replaced with Die cast metal parts. There are plenty of videos about the shortcomings of all their Engines the last 15-20yrs....Too many new vehicles aren't made to be keep for past a decade or more with basic routine maintenance. And what is with mounting the engine with the cam & timing chain cover at the Firewall instead of the Front of the engine bay??
Just happened to notice this video and noticed this perfectly said comment of yours. I've always been a BMW fan since the '90s until recently. I've owned a few of them over the years, and they did deliver on the "ultimate driving machine" experience as advertised back in the day. However, the cars have indeed become more "disposable" with their internal components particularly in the engine department where things go through excessive heat and wear-and-tear. The durability/quality factor is not there any more with them. That's why I was surprised to learn that Toyota took this on with a "BMW parts car" [BMW Z-4] knowing that Toyota banks on its reliability record. Stupid that the Supra isn't offered in a manual transmission. I'd rather go with the new Nissan Z instead.
Excited for the new Z but it will not out perform the Supra. Nissan Z with 400HP is probably putting down 340ish HP at the wheel. The Supra is making 388 at the wheel stock
@@champagnedawgg_ check out some stock dyno numbers from the 2021 Supra's. Toyota understated the HP ratings. Its more like 430HP at the crank for the Supra since they are doing 380's to the wheels on the dyno.
@@champagnedawgg_ its 390 wheel horsepower actually- had mine stock dyno'd. BMW advertises RWHP and underrates it. The Supra is over 460 crank. A downpipe and tune easily puts you up near 475-500 rwhp and the engine itself can take upwards of 1,000. Anyway, that's what's annoying about manufacturers... some advertise crank and some advertise wheel power... so its confusing. When I first heard the Supra figures I thought it was underpowered (assuming it was crank)... but yeah, it's wheel horsepower and the car is as quick as a GT4.
Hard to say what Z will be like until it arrives. Hoping the rumors are true about a manual for Supra. Supra is much better looking and 21 model also got new control arms too.
I hope the Z is a missile! A new Z, just makes things more exciting for consumers I own a Supra and love it. Am purchasing light mods as we speak, intake, HKS exhaust. I could care less if the Z out performs the Supra. Isn't that what the performance car game is all about?
@@topzki47 The exhaust system is coming. Covid slowed it down. Way down! The car is still stock, it's still a blast. I would wait dude? I'd drive new Z and Supra and see which I liked better. We are still happy with the Supra. This thing is very easy to get tickets in! Take your time. New Integra is coming as well. Might have Type R drivetrain?
The buffeting issue can be fixed 100% with aftermarket parts. My Camry has buffeting, my Dodge Ram has terrible buffeting and many other makes and models have buffeting issues. Fortunately, you can eliminate most of the issues by rolling down rear windows. I wish Toyota had added the necessary parts to the Supra but they didn’t. AMS has beautiful carbon fiber anti buffeting pieces for less than $200; they work great.
I am a Z fan owned a 1976 Datsun Z with the inline 6. When they went V6 it became very tight in the engine compartment. The new Supra is a inline 6 remove the airbox and the the Turbo and downpipe ( Catalytic converter ) is right there. The V6 on the hand good look. The original Z was inline 6 and bacause of that it had a very long nose not stretched to resemble the old Z or say 1972 Datsun Z was the best looking because it had small front and rear bumpers years after had larger bumpers for safety regulations in those days past.
Also .. If these nissan guys think there going to purchase the new Z at 35-45k on release....These dealers have a Big price surprise🎁🎉🎊 waiting for them 🤣🤣
Agreed im not sure why they think they'll pay 35k out the door for a twin turbo Z and knowing dealers *Looks at the type r* they won't hold back on the price at all and will more than likely have it sitting at a stupid price point for awhile lol.
The wind buffeting is solved by a variety of aftermarket solutions. It’s blown way out of proportion. While there is buffeting it is very easily solved. And yes Toyota should solve it.
@@rider14mcd63 it's all over RU-vid. People have to go get this $10 kit to fix the problem & the fact that it's mentioned in this video. That in itself is a talking point. 🤷🏾♂️
@@rider14mcd63 people just like to find things to bitch about... its total nonsense. yeah, it's a thing and you can basically do a near invisible fix for 8 bucks... but considering thats the overwhelming majority of complaints I read from all the nancies out there, the car is in a good place
I think the Z is a nice looking car but not as attractive as the Supra. Hard to beat the Supra' s looks. I also doubt it will handle like the Supra since the Supra has really great handling. Not crazy about the rectangular front grille however on the Z. I also doubt it will be as fast since the Supra is a rocket and is really running about 420 crank HP if it is doing about 380 on the dyno. Commenting on the price at this time is really silly since who knows what the dealers will charge for a first year model. You can now buy a 21 Supra for a little less than sticker, and some 20 year models are thousands less. Try that when the Z comes out. Also enough with the window buffeting on the Supra when you can buy an aftermarket fix that fastens to the mirror for a small cost. I even matched the carbon fiber mirrors with the anti buffet deflector. The other thing is for little tuneup money and a down pipe you can add another 100 HP to the Supra which will put it over 500 HP.
My personal experience after owning both Toyota and Nissan is that Toyota quality is far superior - l have owned a Nissan 350Z and the quality wasn’t good at all however my Yaris GR4 is quality - admittedly they are years apart and things can change but l would still choose the Supra !
U can definitely tell the difference especially on top end , not sure what you talking about but drive them back to back 21 pulls harder on top end, drove both ended up with 21
My last car was a 2018 TA392, now have a Supra A91-CF and absolutely love it! I felt is was faster but got the opportunity to test the theory when a scat pack raced me the other day, and i beat it easily. Since then i got it tuned lol.
Ok then clarify it that nissan shape is shame that design is not for a sport car that shape better for a tesla or a honda but not for a sport car and if u say Nissan ok the GTR is good that's true but that's a higher category btw Toyota main goal is to make AFORDABLE SPORT CAR... And yeah maybe bettter in some performance BUT the Supra looks much aggressive and much better and yes i also checked nissan z but for me that's just a joke :D but for those who love that car i wish them fun :) For the reporter a good advise NEVER START a video with comparing a searched vehicle with other car ;)
The Z looks like it’s 20 years old, I don’t see anything stylish about it, maybe seeing it live will be different but from what I’ve seen doesn’t look like much.
Unpopular opinion here but I think the new Z will be the overall better car. It's a lot of the old school and less of the fake stuff. No fake air vents, lackluster interior and offers manual. You also won't have to worry when that warranty ends like in the Supra knowing how pain in the ass that B58 might be to work on. Now, saying all that, Toyota did a great job designing the Supra with what they got and the Supra nameplate alone will probably get you attention. But i would choose the Z.
Tbh, I dint care about Nissan. Toyota quality it what I care about. I've had Toyota for years and still have the same transmission in a 2013 with no issues.
Get the Supra hands down . Will be a much more rare car limited production. Good aftermarket support. Nissan will build 100000s of z cars with no stop in sight like all the other Zzz
well,i think and feel it will be 'game over' for both of these if Honda brought back the S-2000 =) and to add something else to think about, both of these will be in serious trouble if honda made it 100% genuine honda just saying.
Every one of my passengers always surprise how smooth it feels at 140mph,they can't believe is MPH AND NOT KPH cause it doesn't feel is going that fast, they all live the attention you get on this car,you can see ppl sticking their phones out the windows to take pics( and not exaggerating here, ask any supra owner) Wind buffering is a 12$ away so no big deal,I also have a 21 civic type R and is hard to choose which car you wanna drive. I hate the fact that the supra doesn't support ANDROID AUTO so you better have an iPhone if u wanna enjoy the headunit. I was lucky to pick a 22 red 3.0 premium for 57k out the door.
Yes they sure do draw the attention of everyone around it. I get people who following me around til i pull in a parking lot to walk around it and take pics lol.
There is no way 400zx will be $35k in 2022, they can’t even produce decade old GTR under 100k due to their financial difficulties and they say brand new 400hp in house produce new engine car cost price 350z back in 2003?! I promise you 400z you’ll see in the dealership will be mid to high $40k
I'm so eff'n devastated to find out that this car is not really a Toyota. I lost faith in GM because their quality has gone to shit over the years, & I really wanted a Corvette. So since Toyota quality has been top notch, I told myself I wanted the best sportscar made by Toyota because of their quality. But my bubble has burst now that your video has brought out this car is not even Japanese made.
The 6gen Camaro and C8 Corvette’s are great in quality. Not sure what experiences you’ve had personally, but try renting them on Turo. I had a 2017 SS1LE for 3 years and it was an exceptional car. Rented a C8 and the quality of that thing is incredible.
Actually the first year 2020 corvettes are having some issues. Lots of recalls. It the first year model of a totally redesigned car. Some motors have even blown
@@borla4491 - True. But those incredible cars are not readily available to most driving enthusiasts. In addition they are designed and engineered for track use to go as fast as possible and automatic transmission equipped cars are usually much faster because humans can’t compete with computerized transmissions. Having said that I’m sure those cars are fun to drive on the track.
The Supra costs nearly as much as a base C8 corvette (Not including the insane mark up), but is worse than the C8 in every single way. From Interior, to drive train to appearance to wind buffeting to presence it falls short in every way.
The Supra is more in line with a Porsche, but more a bit less harsh for daily driving. Two things, the base C8 is not = to the Supra... you need to drop another 15k to be on par with the same features the Supra has (and no one is buying a stripper model C8). So, you should actually do some research on that point. You're basically talking a 72-75k C8 vs a 55k Supra. The C8 interior is futuristic looking and driver focused but is also riddled with QC issues. The C8 is absolutely more of a racecar than the Supra, but it's a different demographic. The wind buffeting thing you mention about the Supra is absurd- its an $8 nigh invisible fix... it really just seems like you're trying to either convince yourself or come up with any nonsense you can just to bash on the Supra. Go take a look at the C8 forums and look at the ever growing laundry list of issues that car is having, from engine and transmission replacements on brand new cars, water leaking into the engine bay, heat issues, brakes & rotors failing, electrical issues, interior coming apart, seat material clumping, crooked interior stitching, the list goes on and on. You're getting what you pay for- a poor man's supercar- good luck with that and GM's notoriously bad service (the worst in the US vs all other manufacturers). It's almost like all these other luxury performance cars cost more money for a reason...
I personally thought it was game over when Toyota put the iconic name Supra on a BMW. It was a no go for me right away! It actually was such a slap in the face I promised myself no new Toyota’s anymore. Proud to say I just bought my wife a 2021 Armada and did not even go look at the Sequoia.
Nissan Z has more performance, true manual and less expensive. Better looking in my opinion. No plastic in engines....I hope. No need to be first to get one. Nissan Z over Supra by a mile.
Supra is overly designed and not good looking, the hype is just that hype, they can't sell this ugly car, the sales numbers are beyond poor, they are in discontinuation territory
@@onyiiilo378 if you think thats overstyled then you have an intolerably low threshold for that perception... with the exception of some of the fake vents, it's quite elegant
I was able to get a solid deal on a Supra 3.0 Premium last week in red and yes there are cars that perform better than it in areas at that price or a little more, but it's such an uncommon car and breaks lots of necks. So far I've only had positive reactions from people and kids would usually run up to it and go "ITS A SUPRA!!!". I've only seen one Supra in the wild and that was while driving mine and the other driver was also shocked haha. It just feels so special to drive and the wind buffeting issue is an easy $8 fix from Amazon. I drive it going 50+ with the windows down and it's crazy how well that solution works. There's a lot of easy tuning potential for it too although the ECU is currently locked on 2021 models from the 2nd half of 2020. Only car I drive and never listen to music because it sounds that much amazing. I'm sure the 400Z would be an excellent value car as well but cater a different audience more. I do like the retro-modern styling of it.
@@touayaaj84 for real man. The keyboard warriors aren't gonna say it up to your face. Just came back from chilling at a parking lot with a friend and the amount of people that approach and compliment it. Even had a guy say, "So many people complain saying it's just a BMW but it's more than that. Gorgeous car." And that says a lot.
Love my Supra as well! About to go E50 tune in the coming weeks! I guarantee the Supra will outperform the Z stock for stock as well as get way more attention
The wind thing stopping you from buying this car Ha your lost. And I second everything else you said, have only seen 2-3 in the wild since they been out, and only 1 since owning one. Lots of positive attention.
@@dubsrevo yeah the car is definitely too good and enjoyable even with that wind buffeting issue. That shouldn't stop anyone from buying it! Before getting the stick on deflectors, I just had the windows halfway down and it did just fine. Had a few car friends drive it and they were absolutely thrilled with how well and responsive it feels stock.
The Z is ugly and Nissan's been stagnating. The fact it starts at 35k should be alarming. The tech will probably be just as bad. Knowing Nissan, you better like the launch Z, because it won't be updated for the next 15 years. The buffeting issue can be fixed with some after market mirror piece mounts. The only negative I have for the supra is the ECUs are now locked after June 2021 and will brick themselves if you try to tune them.
in relation to wind buffeting? easily solved by just putting some stuff in the hatch like a small backpack which i use anyway and when i roll down the window it is normal.
WTF is he talking about the z being a better performance car. Less hp (these supra's dyno at almost 400 hp, so we are talking 440+ at crank). The supra is lighter, smaller, has better brakes and suspension. The manual supra is going to be amazing.
THESE BMW SUPRAS WILL FALL APART AFTER 50K OR BEFORE ,JUST LIKE ALL BIMMERS . DONT FORGET THIS IS 100% GERMAN VEHICLE, NOT JAPANESE LIKE A NISSAN Z . BEST TIMES YOU WILL HAVE WITH A SUPRA IS WHEN IS NEW, AFTER SOME MILES YOU’LL BE PAYING THE MECHANIC A VISIT ON A TOWING TRUCK. IL WAIT AND GET MYSELF A RELIABLE NISSAN Z NISMO MADE IN JAPAN 👍😂
