Unfortunately in Singapore u could never retire even after reaching 80 cause 1) your HDB u still need to pay 2) cost of living in s’pore are increasing & 3) even after your take some sum of CPF money still not enough
1 factor is also what an individual wants in life? Eg at 40 already sian rat race, comparing cars houses etc. I quit and just work temp jobs for past 12 years...like thrice a week. HDB paid off, no other debts, live a simple, contented life. I would say semi retired. As for going full retirement I wouldn't want as it will be bored
Totally agree, how many of us can really stay on same job for 10 or 15 or 20yrs b4 they tried all ways to get u off, keep doing odd jobs n keep things simple, so long hdb debt paid up, no dependants to feed, its ok!😊
That the Government keeps pushing forward the retirement age tells us they already knew retirement is just a dream and an unattainable goal for most people. Ok, just listen to the Government when they tell you some people just love to work and will work until they drop dead.
Many retire before turning 50 because they work hard and plan financially. It's everyone's responsibility to plan for the future when they are young. Those who don't plan are the irresponsible ones.
Pointless question since everyone’s lifestyle & expectations are different. Firstly everyone’s salary is different & can vary massively. Secondly some people have simple lifestyles & do not mind eating at kopitiams & are happy hanging out at malls. Others expect to dine at Michelin star restaurants & hang out at golf clubs. So how is it possible to say when you can retire? 🙄
