With the USC Trojans sitting on a 3-3 record with an offensive line that is still a work in progress, I explain why Miller's time as the starter could be coming to an end soon. There are a lot of considerations like Miller's health because he gets hit so often, and what's best for the team's future.
During the show's second segment, I examine which players are taking advantage of their playing time on both sides of the ball. I have the play count numbers on both sides of the ball.

I believe Miller's confidence has been impacted. Let's see how he does against Maryland. If his inconsistency continues against Maryland, then Jayden should be brought in the 3rd quarter and see what he can do!

USC should be able to handle Maryland quite easily. But a caution is traveling across three time zone is tough for any team.

Rewatched the first series. To my untrained eyes, in the five plays, only one was executed well. First play, Noa misses his block and DT makes the TFL. Third play, Murphy pushes DE right into passing lane of RB screen and Marks drops the ball. Fourth play, both Paige and Noa miss their blocks and Paige gets away with a hold. Fifth play, Hudson makes his break on dig route short of the 1st down marker, even shorter than Duce's hitch, so only 2 out of 4 receivers ran routes beyond 1st down marker, and Moss threw slightly high and behind Hudson on tight coverage. It's not a lack of talent, it's all the little things that stop USC from being great. No one expects them to play perfect all the time, but every little thing counts. So no, they're not just one or two plays away from winning.

If the new culture is all about accountability and Quentin Joyner makes one fumble and then sits the rest of the game, why would this not apply to Miller Moss as well for missing multiple back of shoulder passes and a wide open Duce for the game winner. You cannot play favorites and maintain the respect of this team. You must allow Jaden an opportunity. I love Miller and his commitment and toughness, but what is fair is fair and he was given a ton of time this last Saturday and was definitely off the entire game.

The QB position--the amount of information they have to process--is much greater than the RB position. So not a good comparison. The key question is how ready would JM be--he has experience but not much in this particular system. We know he can run and MM cannot, but how about all of the other parts of playing QB. I guess we are pretty close, if not already there, to giving him a shot. I doubt though Riley will do it in an away game. If Miller performs poorly against Maryland, then I can see JM getting the start after that or maybe even against Maryland if Miller has off performance in the first half. it is really very sad because with better OT, I think MM would shine.

We said to sit miller weeks ago. You kept saying he wasn’t the problem. It’s not that he isn’t good. He’s just not good for this offense and this offense of line. Not only that I’ve been saying to bench Z Branch on special teams and offense for 4 weeks. He’s a distraction. Defensively I have zero idea why our DB’s can’t make a play on the ball. I thought John Humphrey and D Nicholson were going to be WAY better. And CLR is consistently getting out coached. And PLEASE someone explain to me why we REFUSE to throw the ball downfield to Jacobi, but we throw down the field to a 5’8 Branch who is not good, is not tall, has lost all speed and confidence?! Q Joyner finishes the game with 3 carries? How is that possible?

You nailed the Moss take. Look, this is not a knock on Moss. This is about doing what it takes to win. Riley gets 10 million a year to win. Do your job. The UGA 2020 season explains whats going on here perfectly. 2020 Kirby Smart picked Stetson Bennett to start but he struggled at times. He split reps with Dwann Mathis through 5 games. Bennett had a bad game against Alabama took the L and again the next week. Mathis started week 7 against Florida and imploded, Stetson Bennett was re-installed he struggled and was pulled. Jt Daniels started week 8 and had a huge game against Miss State and finished the season. All this occurred over 8 weeks, 4 QB changes bacause of 2 losses. Bennett was not horrible but Kirby felt like the offense was not running efficiently and more losses would come so he made the switch. 4 QB changes in 8 weeks. Winners do whatever it takes to keep winning. Even today Kirby rotates his QB''s in the second half to keep his QB's fresh but also to see which QB fits the system better. 2020 Jt wins out and wins his bowl game. The next season JT starts the season wins but struggled at time he gets hurt and Stetson Bennett comes in plays well and JT never gets his job back. Jt was benched after going 7-0 at UGA 1-0 in bowl games because the offense just looked better with Stetson Bennett and Kirby was right. UGA won the NC that year.

It's just time for LR to hire himself an OC. LR can't be a HC and still call plays while trying to manage the clock/time and other duties as a HC. Kiffin and Sark both gave up calling plays and both hired OC and both realize HC is a time consuming job and LR needs to take notes and realize that being a HC and OC can't coexist in the B10. Before USC can move forward, expect more close loses and more time management issues and more excuses from LR. What ever happened to Jamil Muhammad, is he playing? Haven't heard his name all season. 🤔✌️✌️

I was never a believer in Moss. Don't forget, Moss was never recruited by LR. Moss is the last remaining survivor from the Clay Helton days. Moss needs to go, start Maiava cause he fits LR's style & LR recruited Maiava from the portal.

Miller ain’t cuttin it. Even when given time to throw he wasn’t making his throws as consistently as needed. And it should have been two picks against PSU but for the linebacker dropping the ball. If your OL is suspect then you need a mobile QB. Miller isn’t that.

I thought we were better than this. After LSU I was on message boards everywhere talking big bad USC! I have been humbled! I’m extremely disappointed. There’s nothing else to play for this year. The season is over. We don’t play for bowl games here at USC! The offense looks like the Lane Kiffin special, bubble screen, bubble screen, bubble screen. The run game was good but O’Reilly doesn’t run the ball in the 4th to run the clock out. Paul Finebaum, however you spell his name, looks like he was right at the beginning of the season, smashing Riley. The offense is crap, like last year once the defenses dropped back the two safeties our offense turned into 5 yards and a cloud of dust. Dink and dunk until we punt. No explosion. No big plays. Quincy’s long run withstanding. It’s like watching paint dry watching the offense. The defense is on point. You can’t be expected to stop the opposition every single time. The offense has to step up. The defense was crap last year now the offense is crap. This is Riley’s third year and the season is over with six more games left. It looks like we’ve been sold a bill of goods, on Riley! The entire east coast is right, WE’RE SOFT!

I think fans like you that say things like “we have nothing to play for this year, seasons over” blah blah blah genuinely don’t have the best interests of this teams future at heart. Winning out and going 9-3, with a potential bowl win to finish 10-3, is a hell of a lot better look to recruits than finishing 4-8. 9-3 retains all the big time recruits you just signed. 4-8, you can kiss them all goodbye. There is absolutely still something to play for this season. We haven’t been to a national championship in 20 years. We’re in no position to say it’s “natty or bust”, especially with this roster. Get a grip for Christ’s sake

Obviously Riley likes mobile quarterbacks. I'm sure he felt the pressure having to choose Miller because of the locker room support of him. The players were ready for a change from Caleb . So now Riley should be able to get back to his preference of a more mobile style QB. It's pointless to waste the remaining season with Miller. Bring in Maiava and let's give him a chance .

I also believe in the third quarter the defense let us down with those two PS touchdowns. Right after halftime they were not prepared for those TD’s. That could have also made a huge difference if the D could have stopped at least one of those TD. It haunts me.

I agree. It looked like the other QB was a lot more mobile when he made that throw in the last two minutes throwing down field. In fact, he even made Penn State's receiver's look good. Miller can throw or he can run. He can't do both at the same time.

I think we need to think about this year as a rebuilding year. LR built a team around the CW the past few years and leaned heavily on transfer. Disagree with that approach or not, he is just now starting to work on stacking OL and DL lines classes. There's a lot of green on the offense, not just OL, but receivers and miller too. Miller hasn't event played a full season yet. This offense will be much better next year.

Great show Mark number one Lincoln Riley needs to run the ball when we’re running the ball so well number two Walker lions did not block low and that called back a great play which probably we would’ve scored on the next play. The refs are killing us and Lincoln Riley is killing us with his playcalling and time management Team could be good. We need an offensive coordinator.

Look we can’t control refs -but joiner can get ten more runs, branch can get ten less targets a game, and moss has 4 called run plays a game , and we are 6-0 . It’s as simple as that. I will be flying from LAX to BWI this week to see the Game in Maryland live, I was hoping for 6-0 or 5-1 or even a 4-2 would be nice going into this game. I was pretty disappointed Sat night and Sunday am. but im over it now and Still a lifetime fan. I am willing to give Miller another chance but not much more after that. The Terrapins are not a good team so a solid smashing of them this Saturday is mandatory. 21+ point victory or more. I had USC at 9-3, 3-3 first half and 6-0 second half. Hopefully Riley hss learned his lessons. "Air Raid" is so 2010!! Play what works during the game. Stubborn LR gets the blame pies for the last two finishes....period, carriage return!! Jaden should be given some snaps in Qtrs 2 and 4 . More run snaps. More Woody, more Joyner. OL run blocking OK. D'Anton and staff are doing a good job at D coaching and recruiting. Fight On!

I actually think Moss would take less damage and we could slow the pass rush some if we ran more read option and let him keep it every now and then. He may not be mobile but a lot of teams do this with statue QB's that are less agile than Moss and it works. It worked for Josh Rosen and works for plenty of teams. And he would take less damage over the course of the game f he understands he isnt running to fight for yards, just keeping the defense honest and sliding mostly or passing it. Such a big part of todays game and we don't exploit it. We didn't even explpit it with Caleb. Very frustrating. That and focusing on our running game and chip blocks and misdirection and we should be fine with Moss at QB. A lot of this years offensive issues seem to be glaring because Lincoln didn't anticipate them until Penn State. Whats weird to me is it seems Moss is actually good at passing under extreme duress. It's when he has a clean pocket the passing game just isn't doing anything at all. I think Moss is a little rattled and maybe concussed, and Riley needs to stop trying to call perfect creative plays and instead call a perfectly designed offense for this years personnel and shortcomings.

Of course we knew this. Those saying bring out Maiava and play the 2's were just pissed off and threw in the towel on the season. But here we are 3-3 with at least another loss on the horizon making Arly's prediction come true of 8-4 at best, maybe 7-5. I give it 50/50 either way since Henson doesn't like making adjustments. I wouldn't expect CLR to ever play the 2's if it meant a difference in his record, not even looking to the future and next season. Hard to believe a recruiting win happened, but kids do like contrarian plays some times. Tomorrow let's do an analysis of the B1G refs and see if there is anything that can be done. If it keeps going this way, we may not win another game - they simply won't allow progress by a USC team in the B1G. Where is Cohen?

Only major U with both a female prez & AD. That may be good for UConn women’s basketball or any gymnastics program, but a football program must exude toughness from the top down through the H.C. Riley won’t make the tough decision to replace Miller because he has a soft sentimental attachment to Moss like he did with Grinch. The funny thing is that both the A.D. and the school Prez. were probably sold to buy Riley’s bull because Riley has such a lovely soft heart.

3 and 3 record is due to offensive and defensive mistakes. A little more effort on either side of the ball = 6 and 6. LR can't close these tough games.

It was true that the Oline improved marginally this game but that seems that was largely due to Riley finally adjusting and the TE & RBs were chipping. Take that away and likely as bad as it has been all season. The coaching staff, especially Riley, came up short....look at that third quarter or Riley giving up the run to go back to his default Air Raid that as not working. Aside from Riley and Henson, I am starting to question Simmons our receivers coach. That room has a ton of talent and it is universally under performing.

With all due respect, Marc, you are being non-committal on your own question. What do you think? Should Moss be benched or not? I say yes. And, by the way, why are you so concerned about “pointing fingers?” Fingers need to be pointed and we don’t have enough fingers on our hands to point out all of our problems, but I would start with Riley and Moss. The defense has, for the most part, improved. The offense has regressed. Fight On! ✌🏾

As of Sunday morning, MM had the 83rd best QB rating and 63rd in completion%. Plus, 62 QBs have been sacked more so stop blaming the line. I’m not emotional about MM, I just look at the stats. Oh, he fell out of Kiper’s top 10 for the NFL draft. He is a 7th rounder at best. I’m super frustrated with LR too, but Lanning has Gabriel, Kirby has Beck, Cristobal has Ward, etc. LR has a guy that NFL scouts realize is below average. Again, I’m neutral on LR, but think there is a good chance we are 6-0 with an elite QB. No Maiva supporters I know say he is better. Their position is to at least try to see if a change helps.

Definitely think 30 carries n 30 passes are ideally but id say rush 40 n pass 25 to 30 we can run the ball , now for WR'S i definitely Makiak Lemon , Kyron Hudson n Jakob Lane are are best 3 n then Duce right there at 4 obviously hes bigger n Riley was using the TE a lot more when the starter was available.

Miller time is over. He is a true pocket passer and does not use his legs. We don’t have a strong enough OLine to pass block and give Miller time in the pocket.

The Louisville game really ruined this season, we thought Miller, the young receivers & the OL especially Paige were ready. That’s why Riley didn’t go after cam ward, Dillon Gabriel and OL in the portal. The good thing is usc hard part of the schedule is over so let’s see what they do now that’s why Jayden needs a chance

Miller is throwing too high. He had better protection this week but he’s not mobile enough. Not totally blaming him for this loss but he is QB1. So sad for our season. What has happened to Branch? ✌️

Why is he so immobile? I've seen opportunities where he could just fall forward for 4 yards, but it's as if there's a invisible force field in front of him. At this point I think Peyton Manning would be more mobile.

I like Miller glad he got to forfil his dream but i think for his career he probably either needs to head for the draft or he needs to transfer to some place with a Oline that can keeo him up n give him time like Georgia because Lincoln Riley not a QB whisper hes just a giy whos built to coach Duel QB'S and thats it this Oline played well but Unlimitely not built to keep him up its built more for RPO's n duel QB'S just want to see the kid win n be healthy different think he'll have a good NFL career he can make the throws.

Miller Moss time needs a upgrade if he wants to continue to be that dude. Remember Miller Moss was already on the roster when Lincoln Riley came there. So his he really a Lincoln Riley type QB. I don't think Miller would be on the roster of a Lincoln Riley true recruited player. It's more of a USC coach loyalty thing and the program lack a replacement player because remember the one Lincoln Riley recruited seem to lack a back bone. I think he needs to develop a more diverse style of play to what moves Lincoln Riley offensive playbook up to another level. He seems to not want to move out of the pocket or adjust to it. It's why we were s negative on third down conversions. Miller Moss must learn rush sometimes for a short yard first down to just move the dam chains and do a reset. If he can't develop that skill it's over for him. The opponent knows he won't run and their playing him that way. They have actually given roads of first down rushing lanes by playing our receivers more than is rushing abilities. He must change is awareness and soon.

Not a big fan of Miller Moss I look at the interception at the Michigan game interceptions at the Minnesota game and the interception at the Penn State game. Also the Oline can’t protect him I think it time for a change

It's time to pivot to Maiava. Miller is good but not great and with a little more time to throw against PS actually had a mediocre game. Maiava adds the threat of the run that Moss does not. With a 3-3 record and possibly 2 or 3 more losses looming it's time to grab the wins available and prepare for next year. As far as the running backs go, JOINER is the better back! Just look at the stats. 3 snaps for his kind of talent is just unacceptable. Riley is looking more like a more expensive version of Clay "Gomer" Helton with every game that passes.........😵‍💫

Injured arm perhaps? was just a question of when little symptoms would start showing. Just can't go around getting tossed, head budded, late hit,, while officials turn the other way. Even when time is plentiful the kid is starting to think he's just about to get shellacked. Damn I knew this would happen.
