Literally just bought an 08 e92 m3, 98k miles ZERO maintenance done. 6k I’m on catch up maintenance and it’s my favorite car I’ve ever owned

Hey mate, looking at an 08 as well. What sort of maintenance did you end up doing and was it over $6k in the end?
@ithinkweregoingtoneedabigg8525
@@Mikeytikey123 I ended up doing the rod bearings at a reputable shop in my area. Parts and labor were a little under 3k. I did throttle actuators, around 1.4K for just the parts as you can do the install yourself. I got got coil overs and various suspension parts. Around 5k give or take. Totally up to you, my suspension was completely shot so it was worth it to upgrade it. If yours if fine I’d wait for a reason to replace it. EDC is great

Don’t forget about the idle control valve, fuel breather valve, fuel pressure sensor, vanos covers, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, and motor mounts.

The s65 is lighter then the previous 6 cylinder - the m button doesn’t change power just throttle response,the nav is cic in the Lci car not nbt. Nbt is the later nav in the newer cars. Vanos doesn’t go on these - I’ve never heard of it,e39 m5 compared to an e92 is dated and a fair bit slower. The s65 won engine of the year for 4 years running the tech is miles ahead of the older 5.0 v8. Brake wise the stock brakes are fine - mine is supercharged and I’ve upgraded my lines and fluid and got pagid r19 pads and on track I can run for 2hrs straight no fade even with 200hp more then stock power I’ve no issues.

@CarswithJay Год назад
Thanks for the feedback! Interesting to note the S65 being lighter than the previous 6 cylinder. I wonder if thats to do with the switch to aluminium blocks. The ‘M’ button can be configured to activate ‘Power’ which increases power by 10% (around that) which would mean in its ‘normal’ mode the car runs at 10% less power. It also increases throttle angle by 10%. Correct on Cic at the time I was mistaken. Yes high temp brake fluid is one of the first brake modifications along with pads! But they are certainly miles away from Porsche brakes. The AP racing brakes are insane. The vanos solenoid issue came up when researching the s65. But more references referred to it being more of an issue on the s85. Thanks for watching!

@RotrexfezST Год назад
@@CarswithJay it’s something like 16kg lighter or something then the s54,which is incredible seeing as it’s bigger cc and more cylinders! You can’t beat ap’s but with pads/lines/fluid the brakes are very good. The m button does zero power increase mate,on the m5 it does increase power but the m3 it sharpens the throttle up and that’s it. Will check out some more videos

Yep..i have a 08, looks identical to the one in the vid. Same splitter same wheels/colour. The m button does not give more bhp it just improves throttle resonse.mine has test pipes and 1.75 box mod..a must for this v8. Truly epic car.

@@CarswithJay as an m3 e92 owner, the power button is ONLY for the throttle response. The m5 e60/e61 + m6 e63/64 was the car ,where depending how the m drive was configured in the idrive, the 'power' button did indeed give full beans.
@2soonjunior
@2soonjunior Год назад
@@CarswithJay false I have one as well. Power button is just a throttle response map. Power in an e60 m5 increases the HP but not in the e9x. M button also increases the weight of the steering.

Good review and overview, a couple of mistakes picked up on by other commenters the only ones i would add to is the oil analysis is only viable on pre LCI models still running the original copper coated bearings. The items BMW themselves replaced them with are aluminium - thus negating oil analysis as it would never pick anything up since the block is aluminium anyway. The ///M button is simply a configuration set for the steering weight, throttle response and on DCT equipped cars the ferocity of the gear change so you dont have to do it on the fly and have your own “set up” ready with just one button. Look forward to seeing some more content when you post it, all the best 🤙

Great review. I’m an E92 M3 owner. It’s a fantastic car, and makes me smile every drive. You should try one with a carbon intake fitted. The induction noise is epic. Road tax is the killer with these at £630 per year in the UK 😢

I think us car enthusiasts should all be able to vote videos like this, to stay uploaded on RU-vid or not, purely for the fact that when videos like this, about certain cars, are made, the prices start going up. #savetheeconomy #stopmakingvideoslikethis

Have had many cars, sports cars. Ok" there are supercars, Ferrari, Lambo, Maclaren, but unless you like the fee's that come with those cars (Maintenance), for the most part, out of this world for most. Like they say if you cant afford the maintenance you can't afford the car. There is a nice comparison to the supercar experience in a BMW. And yes" those BMWs E92s that have naturally aspirated engines are really the ultimate driving machine for the supercar enthusiasts who know the difference of the ultimate driving experience.

LCI's come with CIC not NBT sadly. Then again, it's cheaper to buy an aftermarket android based unit with carplay etc.
