Today on Hangin With Harv, we're finally getting around to adding a crosshair laser to my DIY original Gatton CNC. I've had this in my sights for a long time now and I am super thrilled it's finally complete.
If you liked this project give me a thumbs up and if it inspires you to take on a similar project, leave me a comment as I would love to hear from you.

What table is that please? I like the router mount, and the V rails, I am thinking of adding V rail to my table.

Sorry for the delayed response. The past several months have been busy (check out my latest video). The table is one I created myself in another video. The router mount is also one I made and posted a video of. Check out my channel and if you don’t see what you need let me know and I will work to put something together. Thanks for watching!

Is that pendant only for your machine?

DASFREAK the pendant is universal and works with Mach 3.

@@echovault I will have to look it up, but definitely will share links for both items you asked about.

The laser should be mounted on a Z-fixed spot so it will be always on focus. Good video, though.

different material thicknesses will change the distance anyway. Setting the spindle to the right height, which can be easily done, is also rather a game not worth the time ...

@@666Azmodan666 It depends, I work with materials ranging from 1mm to 30mm and the cross is perfectly focused on all of them. It's not laser cutting, it's just a visual aid.

@@alejandroperez5368 that's why I wrote that combining them to be perfectly sharp is not worth the time. It is sharp enough, especially since it is an eye measurement anyway.

@@666Azmodan666 my CNC machine has a Z-axis with a long travel distance, I don't know how blurry it'd get from one position to another sincerely

@@alejandroperez5368 I think that with a good laser it does not make any difference, the distances are still small. If someone wants to have a perfect one, he must mount the laser so that it goes with the spindle, As we are cut 100mm up and this will be a position where the laser is sharp it will be easy to add material thickness and e.g. at 30mm set the spindle to 130mm for perfect sharpness. the measurement is indicative and in most cases the laser focus is sufficient even if it is not perfectly in the correct position.
