Come join me as we dig deep into this topic and watch me conduct real-world hands-on comparisons of SpaceX Starlink and some of Starlink's Alternative Internet Solutions.
Should you buy into Starlink now?
Should you say goodbye to Starlink and go with an alternative?
What are the pros and cons of Starlink and its alternatives?

Hello all, I am from Germany, 25 miles away from the Telekom headquarter and the fact that they aren’t able to provide fast internet here in our small village was the reason to buy Starlink. This works great and obviously during the last 6 months that I use it some more satellites were brought into the orbit and the reliability and speed even got better and better. Before the dish was delivered I too tested the newest versions of t-mobile gigacube and the Vodafone equivalent. Both couldn’t convince me, because without any antenna outside, the limitation is always that the signal has to come through the concrete walls. I love my dish and today, with your tutorial of how to repair a broken Starlink cable, I was able to provide the Starlink experience to our neighbors. I cut the cable, used an already existing hole in the wall and brought the cable into the house. Long story short: thanks Joseph for your videos, wish you and your beloved a nice 🐣 Eastern 😘👍

Love these vids, living down here in coastal Oaxaca-Copalita Mexico. Thank god for Starlink, Hughes/Viasat are horrible here. But, we only have 1 ground station for Starlink(forgot what the word is) near Mexico City I believe, but still get consistent 100-200 Mbps dpwn but only less than 10 up. No big! I did try TMO a while back waiting for Starlink, 4 G because I had not upgraded my T Mobil phone yet. I did get billed at 50 a month. And having trouble getting my 38 and change back from them. I live in semi-rural southern Nevada, halfway between Las Vegas and Death Valley, CA. Once I found out that T-Mobile 5G home internet was available here, I decided to give it a try, given a two-week free trial period. I am so glad I did. I consistently get 150 - 200 download and 50 - 75 upload compared to 50 - 125 download and 10 - 20 upload with Starlink. T-Mobile never slows down at night, whereas Starlink slowed down every night. No buffering at all streaming video with T-Mobile vs. frequent buffering with Starlink. And pricing? My cell phone with Metro by T-Mobile and T-Mobile home internet bundled with autopay runs me a meager $75/month for unlimited everything.

Still just after ordering starlink, explorer boosted my speed to 25 and 5. Too bad they were a day too late. What were they thinking? @@petecoventry6858 Better enjoy "roaming" while you can, it seems every feature I liked the most SL has dropped like portability. Therefore it's cheaper for me to pause SL and go back to my old ISP at the house (wireless PPTP), and use SL strictly for the RV. At least until they drop 'roaming'.. So I can't use the T-mobile or Verizon internet service either. I have been using HughesNet for the last 4 years and it is absolute garbage! I was very excited that Starlink is now available and when I put my address in the Starlink order page they said I will get a system in 1 to 2 weeks. Once I have it I will be able to get rid of HughesNet and Dish TV and saving me 300+ dollars a month. And since it's just my wife and I, I'm sure 1TB will be plenty! I would spend ages working out which provider I needed to give me some service whilst I was away. (this is in an RV) but now I am in it gull time and I have Starlink. As experienced and active “RV” and full business Starlink, the T-Mobile “home” or “small business” 5G router/service is great. Same for ATT true unlimited 5G is also same level as T-Mobile. ATT uses great portable/fixed (either way) battery back up Netgear router. We use both T-Mobile and ATT for business applications. Flawless. Either with built in antenna or external directional to a sector in a tower. ATT (NOT UVerse) seems faster over time. 300mbs down 32mbs up. T-Mobile is around 100-128mbs down, just under 30mbs up. External directional antenna increase sped a bit (both direction), and lowers jitter to under 30ms. FYI.

@@jcristina it is available. We are not talking a SIM. It is complete system using Netgear MR6500 firmware NTGX65_10.04.22.01. Multiple speed plans available. For home and business use. “Unlimited” no over certain amount fees. They like T-Mobile like you have, show a fair use clause get out of jail where they can throttle someone back for nefarious reasons. We are not rogue operators, never seen any speed changes. I believe this is nation wide. Promoted ESPECIALLY for “UCurse” (UVerse) areas. Since no fiber is coming. One of our location is close by UVerse DSL/“cable” area. We get them at that store. I do not think it matters. I was in your neck of your woods for a month on biz. Used this as back up for Starlink “RV” service if issue in FL. No difference in service. Worked great. Portable, and battery operated if needed. It has Ethernet gig port and full wifi6. ATT 5 gig is decent. This device has multi cellular MIMO. Really jumps the speed over “5G” phone on ATT. I was surprised.

I'm holding on to Starlink for the time being, but considering disconnecting because of their higher price. My primary ISP is Frontier fiber. Their price is very good and there's no throttling or cap. It's very fast (500/500) and works best although their customer service could use a little polish, in my opinion. Their installer said my fiber goes back to their server without need for amplification or relay. That's impressive! I had Spectrum (300/10) for quite a while, but their competition beat them in service and price. They were quasi reliable, with about two outages a month for many hours each.

At my Canadian lake house, I had extremely expensive, (and shitty 6Mbps), ADSL. There are no other options here, and not even cell coverage. Went with StarLink a week or so ago, and voila! Now to be fair, StarLink is more expensive on a monthly basis, but the service is in no way comparable. I also paid about $250.00 CDN for the hardware, so not bad at all! And zero charges when I'm not here, either. Absolutely the right way to go - T-Mobile 5G if you can, and StarLink if you can't. So to AT&T and Westport Telecom - "Buh-bye!"

Where I live, it was pretty stable even with only two bars at about 40Mbps...but at 6pm-Midnight when all my neighbors get home from work we all destroy the local tower's bandwidth and I get 3k pings if I get a response at all. It's functionally useless during that time. You know...the main time I want to use it. Those deprioritization limits need to go way up for me to even think about replacing my Starlink dish. Starlink and T-Mobile are partnering with each other. We are witnessing a paradigm shift. SpaceX has been using TMobile TeleCom infrastructure for years, for all of the Tesla updates. Starlink was created by SpaceX in order to eventually phase the use of TMobile for their own Tesla OTA updates. Now, TMobile is looking to partner with Starlink to potentially use their LEO satellites and the partnership the other direction is to connect Starlink stations to leverage T-Mobile's existing backbone. The people paying for Starlink is simply a way for SpaceX to hedge the cost of their internet roll out. Soon, T-mobile phone users will simply be routing through Starlink..and Starlink users will be routing via ground stations using TMobile's network. It's an interesting blend of tech pivots.

110% agree. It’s exciting to see where this goes.

We had T-mobile home internet before we had starlink. It was great You can even hack it to add an external antenna and I did. We loved our T-mobile .Unfortunately one day our speed drastically slowed down. I called tech support and I was told that T-mobile home internet was no longer available in my area. This was after having it for over a year and a half. There was nothing I could do about it. By luck starlink just became available in my area. If T-mobile were to come back I would get it as a back up.

This is what worries me abut ditching Starlink for T Mobile even if it seems to work well today. As an aside I don't see the Starlink speeds that JC gets. I just did a Starlink speedtest and it started at about 50 and ended at 13 MBps. I have never seen it that low. I generally get around 100 Megs
