On a bigger context, the solution to these issues is for the US to ratify UNCLOS. Now should be the correct time. Then an international alliance should be formed to serve as an enforcer of UNCLOS.

The problem is that the U.S. is not a co-signatory of UNCLOS they never signed UNCLOS due to their permanent bases abroad, signing UNCLOS would mean them giving up their rights to those bases. So U.S. could only back us up as a deterrence to China's global imperialistic ambition.

What dialogue? Legal process has been made and philippines have given them enough strings to pull. Its about time that china follow and respect the laws of the Philippines and the international ruling of the seas. The more Philippines engage in china's likings the more it will be complicated.
@lagrangewei
@lagrangewei Месяц назад
the international ruling did not actually said those territory and seas belong to phlippines. they did not assign the EEZ to anyone. it an intentional mistrial, because philippine knew it would take to long to get a winning ruling, so they opted for one that reduce chinese argument without improving philippines. and that is what I hate about the media now, they just write what the people want to see, they don't bother to understand what the legal reality is.
@jdam46
@jdam46 Месяц назад
China has disputes with all of its neighbors except North Korea. Period. They are very aggressive with the Philippines because they see it as the one with the weakest, militarily. The US support with the MDT is stop-gap measure. It should be addressed with the long term solution of AFP modernization at a faster pace. We should be able to defend and assert our sovereign rights by ourselves as one proud nation.
@boogieman4170
@boogieman4170 Месяц назад
You are dreaming if you think MDT will detter China from its aggressive move in SCS Mongolian Han Chinese were persistent patient in fighting adversaries nerver in 5 thousand years history that we got intimidated we did lost sometime but did comeback and fight back we are willing to go for broke that’s the Chinese phylosophy
@lagrangewei
@lagrangewei Месяц назад
this is not true. China has solve more of it territory dispute since WWII than most countries. this myth that China is an aggressor is simply US misinformation. even on the issue of 9 dash line, in ROC there were 11 dash, the north part of the dispute with Vietnam is resolved, thus reducing its line. US is militarly inferior to China now, while US fleet may appear large, do a count on how many ship US has that is build after 2000 compare to China, US fleet is aging. furthermore these island are not critical to Philippine survival as compared to China, China requires the island to ensure their nuclear sub is protected, this is about their nuclear deterrence, they are not going to give up their nuclear deterrence and allow US to nuke them. Philippine should reconsider if it want to be another "Cuba Missile Crisis".
@lagrangewei
@lagrangewei Месяц назад
Philippine for example still dispute Sabah with Malaysia so should we consider Philippine an aggressor too since it refuse to recognise Malaysian territory? the Muslim south continues to be a problem Manila cannot control. you have to ask yourself what are the territorial priority for Malaysia and Philippines? for Malaysia it would be Sabah that is more important than SCS, for Phlippines it would be Mindanao that is more important than SCS. so when the rest of us in ASEAN see this kind of nationalism, we can't support it, if you win SCS, will you come for Sabah next? Philippine should improve it military, however becoming a puppet of US will not give Philippine it independence. nor does building up a military mean Philippine should aggressively challenge its dispute, the military should be use to defend it independence, not confrontation. it is unwise for philippine to seek to confrontation because if all countries do that, we will become africa with endless wars. why did Philippine and China start it confrontation? because Phlippine try to impose it exclusive power over the region, that is how philippine end up murdering fisherman from taiwan and eventually "provoke" China and Taiwan (give them excuse to deploy their own navy). before Philippine try to impose control, their navy was not there, this is something philippine has to realise. if you put your forces ahead, and they put their forces ahead. you don't win anything, you just lose more control. if China really want to be aggressive, Philippine island in SCS would have fallen, they did not do that because they are still measuring Philippine's response. they only seek to stop Philippine expansion of operation, they did not remove Philippine existing control.
@jdam46
@jdam46 Месяц назад
@@lagrangewei You are twisting facts with half-truths. Sabah is a very totally different issue. Malaysia only stopped paying a form of rent to the Sultan of Sulu in the Philippines on the year 2013. This is a long and totally different issue. As for the West Philippine Sea, it is China that militarized it with bases in Mischief reef. They even tricked other claimants that they were just building shelter for fishermen during reclamation phase. Look at it now. The issue cannot be solved by a bilateral discussion, period. This is the reason the Philippines went to ICJ and got the ruling. As far as international law is concerned, China's claims are outrageous and baseless. Most in the free world agrees and China needs to burst its own bubble of alternate reality.
@jdam46
@jdam46 Месяц назад

In the Philippine side, it's too late for dialogue between China and the Philippines. However, In China's side, it is not too late. China should ask himself, if it's worth for China to enter to this kind of problems when their economy is tanking and the whole world are condemning their actions and behaviors? Who knows if they change their attitude or foreign policy in regard to this issue. The last time BBM went to China and spoke to Jinping, it looks like Jinping belittle him. BBM looks like he was begging. NO MORE TALKS, LET THEM COME. For the meantime, the Philippines should continue their military modernization and aligning with her allies. Aligning with the allies is a shield to counter China.

Knowing the Chinese they always do these traits in doing dialogues. . . China should do this they should show respect even they are powerful nation than the Phil. . .

The other point to consider if dialogue will be done is for China to reconsider its forceful intention of its 10-dash line which is a questionable one. . Phil has the Tribunal decision which China should respect in the dialogue to be effective and everlasting. . .

No more dialogue with China. If they don’t respect the tribunal ruling that Philippines has legal rights to the West Philippines Sea and they continue to bully and harm Filipino armed forces and fishermen, there is no need for dialogue. All that is needed is for china to follow international law. Their legal rights only extends 200 nautical miles from their continental shelf.

Singapore, the smartest country, as well as the most successful one in ASEAN, has been playing smart geopolitical balancing games between super powers for decades, for the maximum benefit of the country, without being squeezed and sacrificed as cannon fodder by the US or China. Filipino people always look at the success of Singapore with envy, and wonder why they can't replicate the best practices in their homeland and why their country is still deeply trapped in US colony mentality without a clear way out. Truth hurts. A smart leader plays smart geopolitical games and invites American and Chinese companies to build factories in order to generate jobs and increase revenue, while a clueless leader easily gets emotional like a kid, often is played by geopolitical players as chess pieces, invites foreign military to build bases in order to generate tensions and increase the risk of conflicts, and sacrifices the country's development and trade. Japan and S. Korea can sit down for negotiations and cooperations, despite of their long time disputes over the sovereignty of the Liancourt Rocks in the sea between them. That is political wisdom and diplomatic maturity on full display. Other countries such as China and the Philippines can definitely learn from S. Korea and Japan to manage their difference on South China Sea, Taiwan, MILF or whatever, and develop their relationship.

Economic might have something to do with being successful dealing with your adversary. Japan and South Korea in that position. However, Singapore is a little CHICKEN acting they can take care of themselves when push come to shove they will tuck their tail looking for other nation's support. This country has only 5 million people and you are stupid enough compare against 112 million people from the Philippines. Who knows if the Philippines will rise and they prove you wrong. Once, they were the most progressive country in Asia, and they could do it again. The location of the Philippines is the most strategic piece of property in the whole Asia, one reason why his Uncle Sam can not release with the Philippines. 1992 U.S. little brown brother told them to go home, why they come back? Because if they lost the Philippines, there is no more access to the South china SEA. They will lose Japan and South Korea. The ASEAN NATIONs WILL BE UNDER THE REGIME THAT RUN TIBET. It's not the Philippines wants the American back, it's the other way around. Wrong again!

its a long process truly - 1st anyone who doles out 500 peso per house to get a vote needs jailed. 2nd no family members are allowed to be appointed by anyone in power. 3rd all funds going in and out of public officials pockets are transparent for all to see on a web site. 4th outside supervision of all projects and construction costs and who is profiting from materials purchase and all transparent on public web site. 5th all donated items from other countries are freely given promptly to the public they were donated to not held as bribes and stamped with election propaganda and doled out as if the mayors or congressman bought them as a gift out of his own pocket. 6th create a national program to get clean drinking water to each and every home that flows all day every day. 7th create a national program to ensure electricity flows to each and every home daily all day without brown outs. 8th supply actual school books to children and have all nations curriculum be equal level at all ages and grade levels. 8TH eliminate corruption in all police forces and fund massive military expansion to protect your country. ONLY THEN CAN YOU TRULY BECOME STRONG AND FREE AND INDEPENDENT NATION

Since the Philippines is willing to be the chess on the chessboard of a game played between China and the US, be prepared to face the consequences of being sacrificed anytime. So far, proxy wars all over the world don't bring any benefits to the proxy. As for the 9 dash lines, it was drawn to include all the islands under China's territories since 1912 (that time was 11 dash lines). When it became an independent state, the Philippines inherited its territories from its colonial masters which does not include these islands within the lines.

The South China Sea arbitration case was organized by a non-UN private court, which is invalid. On July 13, 2016, the United Nations issued a statement on its official Weibo, stating that the Permanent Court of Arbitration has no relationship with the United Nations. • The International Court of Justice issued a statement on its official website. The statement stated that "the award in the South China Sea Arbitration was made by a special arbitral tribunal under the Permanent Court of Arbitration. As a completely different institution, the International Court of Justice has never participated in the arbitration case."

The Permanent Court of Arbitration, established by treaty in 1899, is an intergovernmental organization providing a variety of dispute resolution services to the international community. and therefore VALID. Stop your campaign on making the Hague ruling invalid because it is useless. Everybody knows that the Philippines won that case. And it is a big blow on China's plans to expand. DEAL WITH IT and follow the international rules. You criminal. Your grey zone tactics won't work around here. You only choose what to follow for your own benefit. CHERRY PICKING MOTHA>>
