As an American married to a Taiwanese born spouse and with many Filipino and Taiwanese friends I strongly support this alliance with Philippines and others like Japan, S. Korea, Australia.
Glad to hear that. You must know that it was the Republic of China that declared the 11 dash line in the 1940s. And in 2016, both the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China rejected the ruling of the Arbitration Court on the South China Sea issue.
As a Filipino I will only support Taiwan if they turn back those islands that they illegally occupied to the Philippines clearly within the west Philippine Sea and EEZ According to UNCLOS
wag magpaka-tanga, Taiwan has the same claim with China 9-dash line...Taiwan rejected SCS Arbitral Ruling...do you think pag-alis ng China dyan sa Spratly, Pilipinas ang papalit dyan, masmatimbang kay Captain America ang Taiwan kesa Pilipinas 😁
Together with Japan, South Korea, EU, Australia and all other likeminded allied nations. The more CCP using her low-EQ, suicidal "Warrior wolf" style of foreign relations. The more overseas investor fears to invest in China and left her country for good. The more nations will come together to support Philippines and Taiwan.
TAIWAN has the same claim as China with regards to historical 10-9 Dash line. Fact - TAIWAN does not recognize The South China Sea Arbitration decision 😁

The professor's observation is on point...We have the same points regarding those matters in terms of the Philippines government towards international support against China's pressure
we are still following the one china policy. Also we haven't resolved our territorial boundary disputes with Taiwan. furthermore any treaty would need a concurrence by congress and senate of both countries
I’m glad I found Taiwan Talk with your up to date reporting of current issue. As a born Taiwanese now living in the United States. Your insightful reporting is greatly appreciated!!
The Philippines wasn't the one who started changing the status quo in the South China Sea. The issue started when Chinese illegal fishermen started using cyanide and dynamite within the Philippines EEZ. When the Philippine Coast Guards tried to catch them, the illegal fisher men fired at the coast guards causing them to retaliate. Several encounters and incidences occurred after that incident (between 1997 and early 2000s). Chines Coast Guards also prevented the Philippine Coast Guards from catching the illegal fishermen within the Philippine EEZ which caused the two coast guard to have the infamous stand off.
According to our team to the Arbitration: "China first declared a territorial sea of 12 M in 1958. That declaration expressly included the Zhongsha Islands, of which China considers Scarborough Shoal to be a part. Yet for more than 50 years thereafter, China did nothing to disturb the active and ongoing fishing by local Filipinos. Only in May 2012 did it summarily expel them." What happened in May 2012, during the Aquino Administration? lol
That's why for defensive purpose, all Philippine coast guards the bigger and the smaller ships should be armed. The bigger ones 80 meters and larger should be armed with bigger calliber cannon from Otto Melara and the smaller ones would be armed with smaller caliber from israeli manufacturer.Any more suggestions?
@@haroldjason3060The UNCLOS which China SIGNED specifically states that any historical claims are waived IN FAVOR of the UNCLOS. Also, declaring the world "to be yours" without any agreements means nothing. Just because China declared "it's theirs because they passed by the area thousands of years ago" doesn't make South China sea theirs.
@@haroldjason3060Also, Communist illegal fishermen started using Cyanide and dynamite during the Estrada Administration (Late 90s). Which forced him to capsize Sierra Madre in Ayugin Shoal.
If the worst happens, which I hope it doesn't, the Taiwanese are welcome to the Philippines. I will stand behind Philippines government to defend Taiwan.

Of course they have the same DNA. Just like ours. We have friends and relatives in the islands closer to us. Never been to other far islands. Only to the capital and nextdoor islands. We don't sent bombs and arrows to the next islands. We have No business cuz if we do. They will do the same. Just because you look big and enormous doesn't define to claim and invade other people, homes in the islands nextdoor. Our ancestors were great Sailors in that vast Pacific ocean. They were all freely sailing and fishing in those body of waters long ago.
Honestly the development and Progress about the new Military Facility In Batanes island would be the best stratigraphic location for the Philippines and Taiwan because in any an expected scenario it easy to make faster action or Needed response from the US if in case Taiwan attack by foreign Invaders as will with Philippines We as Pilipino will always support of Taiwan . I'm a reserve Army in any action from China to invade Philippines we are ready to depends and protect our Country.
We have a PH Law regarding a preservation/protection/cultural heritage of a particular place in our motherland. REPUBLIC ACT NO. 8991 declares that BATANES is a protected area. Batanes Island Protected Landscapes and Seascapes (BIPLS). It is now one of the EDCA Site, Know the history about Ivatan... US military base = TOXIC WASTE.
@noelthebicolanotraveler7868 - "We as Pilipino will always support of Taiwan" ********************************** how ironic yet Taiwan has the same claim sa China, and Taiwan does not recognize PH claim in South China Sea (WPS) even the SCS Arbitral Decision
@noelthebicolanotraveler7868 - "I'm a reserve Army in any action from China to invade Philippines we are ready to depends and protect our Country." *************************** and you believe western anti-china narrative, why would China invade PH?...we are not at war with China, Captain America is using PH as pawn to their conflict with China, we are proxy for Uncle Sam, don't be stupid not knowing it as you addressed yourself as a reserve PH army

The Philippines really need to seek closer ties with Taiwan. Taiwan can offer so much especially with technology transfers (hello silicon shield) and actual real and desirable cultural exchange. I'll keep pressuring the Philippine govt to do so. Taiwan can benefit by having a contingency to thier contingency much closer to home.
Taiwan should increase its trade and investments into the Philippines. A strong Philippine economy will enable the Philippines modernize and strengthen its military faster.
For your info, China has been the No.1 trading of the Philippines for the past 7 years with trade running into billions. China is also the 2nd largest tourist arrivals in the Philippines bringing in billions of pesos compared to Tawan which is just a penny.
China’s economy is 23 times bigger than Taiwan. Even Hong Kong and Macau is 56% the size of Taiwan’s economy. And you rather trade with Taiwan instead of China.
@@Fortune-md5jkso? What's your point? will the PH stop breathing if we stop trading with china? The answer is a Big NO...there are more than 160 countries around the world and PH economy does not only revolves and depends from china..take that in your short mind
Yes, need to proceed build this port for the security both Philippines and Taiwan from bullying China. We Filipinos strongly defend our sovereign territories.
It's not just probably for Filipino OFWs evacuation, but Philippines is also known to open its doors for humanitarian reason. So its highly probable not just Filipinos will be evacuated to the island but also other nationalities that will seek shelter for humanitarian reason, even Taiwanese citizens (like senior citizens or children who will be seeking humanitarian evacuation). It started in WWII with Jews. On the issue of One China Policy, what China does with Hong Kong actually gives international community apprehension to try to mediate in favor of China. Remember China and UK had an agreement to have HK's independent especially on its capitalist system and other rights (freedom rights) for 50 years, but now CCP is violating this by influencing and dictating HK legislature that limits capitalism, e.g. the security law.
So you want China to abide by the agreement with the colonizer that looted china for over 100 years and even took HK. Whats wrong with you. Will you abide by the agreement you do with a mob who robbed your house.
The new seaport being constructed on Batanes Island serves multiple purposes. Firstly, it is intended to facilitate the rapid evacuation of Filipinos residing in Taiwan in case of a conflict. This is particularly relevant given the island's proximity to Taiwan and the ongoing tensions in the region. Secondly, the seaport is part of the U.S.'s broader strategy to enhance its military cooperation and establish new bases in the Philippines. This is seen as a move to counterbalance China's growing influence in the South China Sea and ensure the security of its allies in the region. Lastly, the seaport could potentially boost local economic activity by improving connectivity and facilitating trade and tourism. However, these potential benefits should be balanced against the geopolitical implications of the project.
Just a friendly suggestion. I think the best form of deterrence against china is to have a joint quadrilateral patrol between Taiwan, US, PH and Japan and even South Korea if they are willing to join in the SCS, West Philippine Sea and the Taiwan Strait and around Taiwan.
Philippines helped Taiwan a lot, the port is not just for OFW but to the citizens of Taiwan which is our friend country, if I were Taiwan I’ll build hospital and school in Batanes in the event your citizen evacuate.
We are going to construct that military port to support our friend in the North who are the Taiwanese People. Stay strong our friend. Fight for your freedom!
Hi guys The Republic of Taiwan is quite lucky that the impending construction of port in Batan Island, Batanes, Philippines is a strategic locations we see more infrustractures to be constructed to the thwart any plans by communist china that undermine the very existance of the peace living people of Republic of Taiwan you can do it Philippines will be of help and a gateway to the pacific ocean
Here in the Philippines,We really SUPPORT TAIWAN ,because they are way far more educated people than the Chinese poachers of china.. Pls. So continue your project in BATANES . Also to AMERICA for their unwavering support to our two countries. Thank you....
Taiwan should show courage by internationalizing the issue on Taiwan strait. Taiwan and China are two different sovereign entities. Engage international support with like minded countries. No need to wait until situation be like Ukraine.
Technically, allied countries on the so-called chain of islands systematically surround China with the support of the United States. In the event of a conflict in the region, members of NATO alliances are also on standby to foster peace in the Indo-Pacific, especially in the South China Sea where trade shipments pass through this crucially important waterway.
Taiwan should help Philippines also because when war will start in spratly island. China will go to Taiwan at the same time.. but if start in taiwan? Philippines will surely helping you like what Philippines do to south Korea before. Philippines has a word of honor. A friend to many and enemy to no one. but will be not let anyone take our country without a brutal fight. Long live the Philippines and Taiwan.
mr. lui fu is great observant, might he be a great strategies as well and not just expectator,. long live taiwan! long live democracy!! filipinos will not yield.
MR MARCOS IS SMART, HE VISITS DIFFERENT COUNTRIES IF THE WORLD!!!!! AND DISCUSS W LEADERS OF DIFFERENT COUNTRIES TO REALLY WHAT HAPPENED IN THE SOUTH CHINA SEA, THATS A SMART MOVE BY MR. MARCOS...!!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It is not just the Filipino overseas workers in Taiwan. The seaport can also be used to evacuate other nationals in Taiwan as well as some Taiwanese citizens who may wish to seek refuge in the Philippines just in case a conflict breaks out. Philippines have a long compassionate history of hosting displaced people as a result of war such as the Jews in Europe during WWII, boat people fleeing China during the cultural revolution and the Vietnamese refugees who were affected during the Vietnam war so this is no different. It is as important disaster relief center as to provide US and the allies a strategic foothold to keep Bashi channel free and open.
The Batanes Island Chain is a very ideal growth area for Philippines. Northern Luzon towns and cities will benefit from a military town.... Baguio City was a military town in the early 1900s.... If you see Baguio City now you will see how an established area...will create it...
Philippines 🇵🇭 and USA 🇺🇸 getting ready for Taiwan 🇹🇼 evacuation. It's not just the Filipino evacuation. Rest assured we are by your side. All people that believe in the rules of law and of a free country. Taiwan should announce their Independence and join the alliance in the Pacific.
