Great to know you plant very late in the fall with success. I bought 25 new bare root roses from Palatine for delivery this spring. I potted them all up and planned to put them in the ground in the fall, when new beds were ready. The bed prep took longer than expected, and I missed my zone 5b last safe plant date of September 1st. I debated whether to overwinter them in the garage, but decided to go ahead and plant them all in the ground. Wish me luck!

My favorite time to plant is fall. We get short springs that lead to hot humid summers that mean I'm out there fighting pests and hoping they're not drowning from the rain deluge that happens occasionally. I'll come home with discount my plants and my husband just smiles and says 'the blue bag'. Which means biotone and a shovel and he'll dig and plant where I want. I tore my ankle right before your mom broke hers and recently had a flare of an old should injury so he has been making sure I don't overdue it

I’m enthralled with reblooming irises. I guess they have yet to “catch on”, although they’ve been around for more than a decade that I know of. The first one I saw startled me so much ( I saw it in my neighborhood in Boise while driving) I almost wrecked. We have had one in our yard for about 6 years. It took 3 years before it actually rebloomed. I have pictures of it blooming on Halloween.

If you're in Boise, you're not far from Sutton Iris! Have you visited them? If not, I highly recommend a visit during bloom season! I visited about 10 years ago after they moved there from California. Mike Sutton is an amazing Iris Hybridizer! He breeds a lot of rebloomers for cooler zones, now that he's in ID. I wonder if Laura's yellow iris is "Harvest of Memories?" It's a well-known yellow rebloomer. 😊

Besides loving all your content, watching your vision come to life and your precious family (including Paul & Bethany and all the animals), I so deeply appreciate the music that is used in your videos. There are some channels that I just can't watch or I mute because of the music. Ken and/or Aaron pick such soothing, pleasing music for the videos. I am also amazed at how much the property has transformed since you purchased the south garden. It truly is amazing! We are in Texas Zone 9 and it is torturous trying to work outside around here, especially this past summer. I would love to live and garden in a Zone 6, 7, or 8 and without 98% humidity! Watching your channel, I get to see how pleasant gardening can be in a milder climate. Your channel provides a peaceful, pleasant start to my day after my Scripture writing and prayer. God bless you all!

Crazy Iris in October! I also have one iris that decided to wait until late September to start blooming, and is still going into October. Not just one or two blooms on one of the "reblooming" iris, but dozens of blooms on two plants that have been in constant bloom for weeks now. I divided most of my iris this year, but not this one which is situated among other iris that bloomed normally. I will definitely want to watch and divide this very odd, super late bloomer next year.

Here in the UK I planted yesterday because the weather has been so mild and its always good to plant while things are still at their full height because you can gauge better how it will fit in. That first display is beautiful - looks very "bridal". The superbena is a sea wave of purple. Just gorgeous to see in the fall.💜🩷

I planted Low Gro Sumac many years ago. It never looked like anything more than a weed. It was supposed to be fragrant but I’ve never seen any blooms. It’s so scraggly that other weeds are always growing in it (especially Rose of Sharon(another invasive weed!)). But I had to try everything in my one acre garden. Wish it looked half as good as yours.

Thanks for another fun video! In zone 5a, southern Wisconsin, I have always planted clearance perennials and shrubs into November and December with great success. Our soil has great drainage which helps. I also have Limelight Prime and cut some for arrangements because the rosy color is beautiful!
