Having experienced the v6 and now owning a GT, I tell everyone the same thing. The g8 base isn't a bad daily driver or car if taken care of. You can still visually mod them as much as a GT or GXP. Unfortunately, the ly7 isn't really suited for more power than what a GT can make stock, and building the ly7 would be a questionable financial decision. If you want a g8 for the sake of owning one for the looks then the v6 isn't a bad deal, clean ones are affordable. But never go into a base model looking for the same experience as a GT or GXP. Plus, GT and GXPs feel more well rounded than the base. But regardless, I still love me a G8!
Nice honest review. I've been thinking about buying a V6 G8 as they're really nice looking cars. I'm not one to abuse cars, even though I love and have owned V8 cars, so I'd be content with a V6. I have a garage queen 98 Firebird with the Y87 performance package so I think I'll stick with it and just admire the G8s. Thanks for your video.
People want too much for them with a bunch of miles. I seen one with 176k for 7k. Ive been thinking about buyimg one as a second car. Not too quick and looks good
Only thing I regret about this car is that the parts are like tryna find a needle in a haystack sometimes . Car is pretty fast for what it is. I’ll just rather not put all this money in a 08 for it to go to shit . Because eventually shit will start breaking down and gonna need to be replaced
“Patience is key” I’m in the same boat right now. Going to check out a running V6 G8 that needs TLC exterior wise. I’m debating trading my ‘78 Malibu Coupe Roller for it. I’ve already got a LQ4 6.0L & 4L80e available for it. @V8von do you think the trade is worth it?
@@87squarebodyehhhhh it’s really a gamble but if you have a donor car yes but if you have to scrap up all the swap parts like I’m doing now it’s not😂 it’s so hard gettting your hands on stuff like the harnesses and stuff you need for it it’s self
