GREAT video. I'm not a professional but I've been blowdrying my relaxed hair straight for about 33 years now. What used to take me 30+ minutes with my BaByliss Volare now takes me 13-14 minutes with the Dyson. I have some arthritis in my hands and wrists and the way the balance is configured on the Dyson had eliminated any soreness post drying. My hair is sleeker, shinier, and above all, healthier, since I've started using it. Less heat means less damage over time and it means I'm not a sweaty mess when I'm done drying. Since I blow dry my hair 4-5x a week (post workout) it's saved me quite a bit of time in just the five weeks that I've had it. All in all a fantastic investment, in my opinion.

This is a really late comment but I wanted to let you know that I was REALLY happy to see your comment, as I am texlaxed and have been looking high and low for reviews that were done on afro "non" natural hair. Thank you for your comment. You've sold me on this bad boy! Now, I just need to decide which colour to get :D

Tracie Warren hm to be honest straightening our hair is more so technique than performance of the dryer. You can buy a 20 bucks dryer and straighten your hair if you have the right technique. I see often this comment online and from my experience most don't know that, even so called professionals. Our hair isn't difficult but more so how people view it. Most think you need more power but our hair is more fragile the higher the number... technique!

Tracie, I’m Latino and I’m well known for my perfect straight blowouts on difficult, coarse and curly hair and my coworker has this Dyson hairdryer and I’ve used it and it’s not as powerful for me. I will stick to my babyliss luminoso which is $70 and is hotter and stronger. parlux are strong too. And I’ll wait for a more powerful dyson in the future.

As a stylist of 23yes I just started using the Dyson Dryer and have to say I love it. Lightweight, easier to store, nozzles stay firmly in place being magnetic and one big plus is noise from other dryers such as GHD, Cloud9 (who both have great blow driers) is reduced sound. If you can afford one buy it

This dryer actually has a cool setting so you do not have to hold the cool button the whole time. If you press the heat button until all indicator lights are off, that's the cool setting. The button is only for cool shots. I have this dryer and I too am in love with it.

I love mine, keeping the filter clean is the only challenge, I'm searching how to deep clean or even change out the filter. Also I would mention how quiet the sound is to our ears. I used to come home to ringing blowdryer sound in my ears. I have hearing impairment from years of blowdryers. The sound is so much better for hearing. Also the weight being in the handle prevents fatigue in the writs from normal top heavy blowdryers causing carpal tunnel and ortho issues!
@LadyJaneQns
@LadyJaneQns 7 лет назад
Is it powerful enough for thick, course, curly hair? To be honest it doesn't look very strong. What makes it coast so much more then any other pro dryer? The thing that truly interests me is how light weight it is. What other dryer would you recommend that is both powerful and lightweight if you cannot afford this blow dryer?
@earthstudent1
@earthstudent1 4 года назад
It’s not 400 for the professional dryer for stylists. They need your license no for the professional price. I just got one and I love it! You have to clean the filter weekly!!! So for people who have had problems that might be why if your not.
@staceylewisjr7559
@staceylewisjr7559 8 лет назад
I bought this about a week ago! (Smhurda dance) Its a revolutionary product. Draws attention by the look, sound and is lightweight. I look the cool button which should be called cold button because it gets cold. The only downside to the blow dryer is if you work at a station with blow dryer holes as it won't fit. Hey, if you're a professional and have a little dough then get it. I love it and stand by it

The biggest issue that I think I would face, theoretically anyway, would be that my habit is to transfer hair back and forth between brush and nozzle of the blow dryer. Unless I could use the handle or retrain myself to use a pinky finger, that could be a deal breaker for me.

Thanks so much for reviewing this! I'm curious how it performs diffusing curly hair? Often dryers that are powerful and fast, are too forceful even with the diffuser on and result in frizzy coils. I, too am wondering how loud it is? You demo-ed it, but I can't tell if it's louder than my current dryer (the bioionic whisper light)

I have tried many, many blowdryers since I have been doing hair. I loved the one Matt has for comparison, but mine died quickly. My absolute favorite was the Babyliss Ferrari one. Then I bought the Harry Josh one. It's the small green one. That definitely shot to the top of the best blowdryers. They give you a 50% discount as a pro. The two negatives with that dryer are that does not come with a diffuser and the cord stinks because it twists on itself with use..so annoying! Even with these two negatives, the Harry Josh is absolutely the best blow dryer and I would recommend it to everybody. Now I'm going to try this one soon. As a pro, Dyson will give you 20% off on this dryer. The pro color is different than the retail color. The dryer, however, is the same according to Dyson. Matt, have you tried the Harry Josh blow dryer?

Did you get the free blow dryer? If so did you get the professional one? I'm a hairstylist I have asked Dyson about the difference between the two of them and I have to say they haven't been professionally advised about the dryer. I did a bit of comparison on the basic and the pro and all I got for the pro was the color, one less attachment and one year less warranty. Which to me I rather get the "basic" one. Anyways, if you have the pro can you do a comparison with both? And give us some feedback! Thanks

Hey Matt, as always fantastic review. Its been a couple months since your post so my question is, are you still utilizing this thing? Im a cold shot guy and literally just picked up the 10x pro ultralight from Bioionic. The cold shot is a click on click off which I love, but the heat isn't adjustable which I find strange. I handled the supersonic an hour after my Bioionic purchase and was torn. I looked for your beloved twin turbo from Ergo with no luck. I was just wondering if you still use the supersonic or went back to old trusty and what your thoughts were on why the 10x doesn't have heat adjust and the purpose behind it? Im still thinking about trading in on a supersonic...?
@FreeSalonEducation
@FreeSalonEducation 7 лет назад
+Chris Meyer I'm still using the supersonic. The only thing I don't really like about it is the big box on the cord and the magnetic attachments aren't that strong so if you hit them they fall off pretty easy. When I open my new salon I'm going to stick with the Paul Mitchell dryers that we have always had. The ergo dryer is great as well but I don't like it as much for diffusing and round brushing that's why I quit using it in the videos.

If you don't want heat, turn off the heat instead of holding in the cold shot button.

i never use a blow dryer on my hair but if i did buy one i think this one would be it. i try not to apply heat to my hair just so my color lasts longer, not even hot water.

Grey review mate! Had watched a few others with a bit too girly dudes and honestly the reviews gave the audience nothing to go on, just giggling and shit lol. So thanks, really helpful review! Definitely a fan from now on!
