I found it really weird the Squibs thing. It reads that a Squib needs one magical parent to be one. That a Muggle-Born had a Squib in family ground an Ancestor. So why not Dudley is not a Squib,? Or even his mother? Lily had Squib in her family's background.

Could possible that non magical history like the world wars might have played a part in that. We know that the wizard world was very hit and miss on what they should do during WWII and it's likely that in that time many wizards ESPECIALLY squibs and muggleborns would've been at a big risk so it's possible the American ministry would have restricted travel of wizards to Europe at the time, we don't know this for certain but, it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch when you consider how overly protective the wizarding world can be. I'd actually love to know more about how each country in the wizarding world dealt with large scale history happening because I find it hard to believe that wizards in Germany, Japan or other places wouldn't have been influenced the same as muggles in our own world were as it would be a scenario probably ripe with purists. -shrug- though that's probably a theory in of itself

Okui Aohara / Silver Sky but they could have also taken a muggle boat like Newt did in the first movie. Besides, when Grindelwald showed his gathering the vision of WWll, Jacob's reaction and saying "another World War" implies that it hasn't even started yet, so muggle travel at least shouldn't be affected...

i mean it kinda already happened? in the fantastic beasts book (not the screenplay the one newt wrote) its said that mooncalfs will avoid contact with muggles at all costs, and obviously jacob feeds them in newts case. problem with that is that obviously newt wouldve said something so im not entirely sure, but he wrote the book after the events of the movies, so maybe he didnt know that mooncalfs avoid muggles yet.

She said it's so rare that there was only one recorded person in the world she created to do it and they did so around the time frame of Fantastic Beasts from HP. Jacob is that person obviously.

I was thinking the same thing. The Grangers got into diagon alley meaning they could see the leaky cauldron, and I think there was a muggleborn kid at the quidditch world cup with his parents. Muggles seem to be able to see magical things if they are aware of them

Starmadien2019 yeah but on pottermore it says muggleborns are the descendants of squibs who married into the muggle world, with the magic Gene or something being dormant for many generations before showing up, so her parents are technically squibs, I think Jacob is also a few generations after the last magical ancestors, and doesn't know he's a squib, much like Hermione's parents

alic seprin I definitely recommend watching the second movie for more details. And while a Legilimens can plant false memories or visions (like Voldemort did with Harry), ones that don’t naturally exist within the mind, they have to be extremely powerful. Going of Voldemort isn’t a great idea, since he was the most powerful one in the world, according to Snape. My thought process for this since I finished the first movie has always been that I think Jacob enjoyed his experience overall so most of the memories would be retained; it takes away bad memories. Seeing destruction and havoc is scary for people, especially if they don’t understand the cause and have no context. If I went outside my door and someone tackled me to the ground, I’d be freaked out. But if I knew it was because someone was trying to assassinate me and by tackling me they took me out of the sight of the other person, I’d be happy they helped me; context is important. Jacob knew why the weird things were happening and knew his friends were with him. He had someone he was falling in love with. And that tends to make you feel better about a situation, no matter how bad it is. It’s like as a kid, I felt things could never get too bad if my dad was with me, because he’d handle whatever happened. So I can see the premise of the potion working on other people because it’s so out of context and scary. But to him, it’s less bad and more scary but thrilling, and most of it was more... wondrous, awe-inspiring, and fun. Seeing the amazing creatures and witnessing magic, eating really good magical food, that’s not all bad. So he’d have at least some memory. I figured they could fudge it either way, say the food in his pastry shop was inspired by subconscious memories, or that he remembers those parts for real, because they were good. My guess was they were waiting to see if he was a fan Favorite or not. And if people didn’t like him, he’d not remember or come back. Smart move, really.

Hahah, I just always thought it was the "he must have a strange idea of good memories" thing personally. I mean the rhino-thing was scary at the time, but it's one of those things you laugh about afterwards and tell funny stories about.

I also hope that he is just a Muggle as well. That, to me, gives hope that even a plain, regular Muggle people can get swept up into magic and can be a part of more than just themselves.

I want him to be a muggle too, but him being a squib or even a wizard doesn't make him a "chosen one"

As far as I know. The definition of a squib is someone born to pureblood parents that has no magical powers. So therefore muggle parents can’t make a squib.

They wouldn't be called squibs, per se, but I understand the idea. Basically, the abilities of a squib but without magic parents? So they'd basically be muggles with extra intuition.

So, the Harry Potter version of Percy Jackson's Rachel Elizabeth Dare? That could be interesting.

Pretty sure that violates what we know about the magical world. Both muggle parents would have to be the descendants of squibs themselves but so far removed that they had no knowledge of magic. Like Hermione's parents. With this squib ancestor and all knowledge of magic is so far back in the bloodline that no one recognizes it. Therefore for all of the intervening Generations exactly what you're talkin about must happen where they carry some remnant of the magical gene but only when paired with someone else who also carries some shredded leftover of the magic gene can a magical child be born. All of those intervening Generations past the third generation of squib descendants would still be considered muggles. Weather Jacob is a squib or not is totally irrelevant if he marries Queen and they have a child. The child would be considered Half-Blood just like Harry.

When his sister Ariana died. he may have tried to use the Sorcerer's stone to give her Obscurial her body back... but instead, it created a NEW body entirely... Dumbledore was too grieved of his failure, to revive his sister, and gave the baby up, that baby then made it to America. That's how he can be a 'brother' to Dumbledore without Albus knowing he carries the line of the Dumbledores. He is basically a magical clone of the late Ariana. Since he is a clone of a girl that was older than 11 at the time of his creation, that may explain why: 1: He wasn't written into the School's record book... and 2: He has no family. Technically his genetic profile is older than 11 at the time of his birth so he wouldn't receive a letter. Also, it could be that he isn't in fact human... But a new type of magical subspecies and I haven't seen any goblins at Hogwart or Ivermony

No its sandwhiches. let me explain. in both movies we see magical powers being cast by female characters, and a female user of magic is a witch. and what is a part of the word Sandwhich? Which. Which sounds and is spelled very similar to Witch. Therefore, in worlds that have magic the term is we finish each others sandwhiches because female users of magical abilities are called Witches. and their power comes from the sand, aka the ground aka earth aka the natural magic present in their worlds.

Here is a ridiculous what if. What if there are adults who have the magical gene but it was never activated in life so they would be considered squibs or muggles. But then something later in their adulthood happens to then activates that gene and suddenly in later life starts showing magical abilities instead of childhood. I wonder what would happen if it does? How would the magical world deal with such a thing? Would they create aadult education for newly "magically awakened" adults?

Hé knows when kids are out of bed. The beds are IN the castle. And he hammers all those commandments to the walls. He can definitely see the castle He sees Mrs Norris hanging in the hall and can read the writing on the wall.

He is not actually walking through the walls but he is literally seeing through the walls. Which is enough to find and surprise someone. He also know where the passageways are because can he sees the hidden patchways behind walls. Basically are the walls look like partially collapsed walls for him. There is enough parts to still see where the rooms are and to hang something on the wall. But huge parts of the walls are transparent to him due to the ruins illusion.

Squibs are non-magical by definition, they have no access to magic. Descendants of squibs would be the children of non-magical parents, making them normal muggles and not squibs. Squibs MUST have at least one fully magic parent to be a squib. Also, sorry for responding to this like a year after you posted it.

@@LunatheMoonDragon you have a good point, but think about this it's a magical gene it doesn't disappear going down the chain of descendants. Hermione is a Muggle-Born it is theorize that she had a Squib in her ancestry.

Your theory, as stated here, is that an ancestor of his was a squib, which is how he could have had it. Unfortunately, his distant ancestry doesn't make any difference here, as he MUST have had one fully magical direct parent in order to be a squib.

But if you're looking for a more direct scientific answer, I'd say that it's definitely not the same as a recessive gene. I am absolutely not an expert on genetics, but I'd say that some kind of magical tomfoolery is afoot rather than it having a perfect corollary in reality

One of the reasons for the Department of Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures is to ensure magical creatures stay away from Muggles. The Statute of Secrecy wouldn't be so important to keep under control if Muggles couldn't see magical things.

They made memory rain fall all over NYC likely because it got wrecked and muggles can see acts of magic. They do not come up with these theories for express disproof. They come up with these theories because it is enjoyable and thought-provoking. The travesty here is you expressing unequivocal proof he is a muggle when there is none. Why do you think they created this theory in the first place? Because there was room for it. I have that feeling too. Like come on the clues are way too obvious. In the franchise it's said that muggles can't see magical creatures and they can't see Hogwarts only people who have magical blood in them can see them. I think we'll eventually learn Jacob's true backstory in future movie installments.
