I didn’t understand this one either but I still enjoyed it too.

I understand your thoughts with sometimes not understanding the theories. That's why I'm my main post I suggested maybe a big diagram with picture and points with strings attaching stuff. So people like us can fallow along and fallow the connection points and help piece it together in our minds. Do you think that would also help you if something like that was added in?

The fact that Corvus IV would want to marry a Dumbledore to produce a wizard as strong as Albus doesn't make sense if he married Kendra since she wasn't a Dumbledore by blood and also she was a muggle-born! The Lestranges are probably even more crazy when it comes to blood purity and Corvus IV was the heir to his family so he certainly would not marry a muggle-born no matter what. Also, we know that Clarisse Tremblay is Corvus IV' first cousin. This theory is a pass frome me

Put it this way, they've come up with so many theories on Credence that I think there's a decent chance that one of them will be right!

Major franchises don’t take that long between films, yeah chalk a year up for the pandemic but still 2 years is long and last I heard the third movie won’t come out till 2023? I totally agree. Although I LOVE the insane possibilities, trying to force Credence into a Dumbledore steals all credibility from the movie. It undermines the situated lore from the books. Leave it as a lie from a phenomenally seductive villain, and build upon that. To make him a Dumbledore seriously ruins the continuity of the lore.

Also, with Queenie being a mind reader, she probably heard Credence thinking about what Leta Lestrange told him - she could then pass on the information to Grindlewald...

Neko On, I agree! I think it is far more likely that Percival Dumbledore didn't die in Askaban but escaped, which was hushed up. Since Kendra had died by then, Percival could marry again secretly, and he had another son who was called Aurelius. Baby Aurelius then happened to be on the ship to New York for some reason and was saved from drowning because of Leta's baby swap. Percival Dumbledore might then have gone to America in order to look for his lost son. And he called himself Percival Graves! This is a very suggestive name, and I always wondered, why JKR choose this name and why we never learned more about the real Percival Graves.

I thought this too. Grindelwald was looking for the obsurial, not a Dumbledore boy. He can't kill Dumbledore and no one else is powerful enough to get close so when he hears about an obscurial he goes looking for it. Hes so convinced that its the girl at first that if he was looking for the lost Dumbledore brother it doesn't make any sense. Once he realizes the obscurial is Credence he finds out who Credence is and then plans his manipulation. Irma is a loose end who can ruin the illusion that Grindelwald wants to put in Credences mind so he has her killed before she can tell him who he really is. And then manipulates Credence to go after Dumbledore. But then I wonder why the Peonix comes to Credence.

On pottermore its stated that harry's paternal grandparents died soon after his parents did. They were pretty old when james was born. As for lily's parents that would be an interesting question.

It will be a very lame cliffhanger for Grindelwald to be lying, so it’s probably something zany like J’s theory, why did they spend such an emphasis on a baby swap anyways, another poem-prophecy type thing. I like the side of it all that Grindelwald saw him needing items in place to take on Dumbledore, it bolsters Albus’ status of being so powerful which is nice, and plays into Grindelwald’s skills as a manipulator. I remember hearing a theory on Mugglecast that Flamel and Albus use the philosophers stone and alchemy to create Credence, but nothing what we have seen in the movies supports that direction. Sort of curious what you both think about the upcoming film and the future films theft of this arc, with Depp gone, rewriting, the controversy with The Author, the negative reception of the second film and the length of time between the second film and the third, will it be a “success”, quotes because people see a box office number and say a film was a success but they don’t realize people have to pay to see the movie before they can then express their criticisms and by that point the movie made x millions and is a “success”; but will movie three make more than movie two, more than movie one, Marvel type numbers, will the reception be good? Idk I’m not optimistic but I’m still going to see it and judge for myself.

This was my thought, too…that another friend or relative had helped Dumbledore’s father to escape, similar to the way Barty Crouch, Jr, escaped, and that the dying person who replaced him was then buried in his place. Perhaps he was smuggled abroad to France, where he married again, or possibly just had an affair (since technically, he was already married,) with the woman who was Arelius’ mother.

It is certainly much more plausible that the narrative of the SuperCarlin Brothers 😉 I also noticed that that Percival Graves's behavior towards Ezra may not havee been creepy or exploitative. I thought that a father-son relationship might be another explanation for Percival Graves's behavior. If Ariana and Gellert are Ezra's/Aurelius's parents, he would be Albus Dumbledore's nephew and Percival Dumbledore's grandson. This scenrio might be even more plausible than my idea, that Percival Dumbledore married again after he had escaped from Askaban, and that Ezra is his son and therefore the half-brother of Albus and Aberforce. However, I still think that the name "Percival Graves" is very significant! It is a strong hint that Percival Dumbledore did not die in Askaban. He might have escaped and then went to NY where he became Percival Graves. And if Ariana really had a baby, Percival Dumbledore/Graves might not have searched for his son but for his grandchild! Do we actually know exactly when Grindelwald had started to pose as Percival Graves? It might have been later than we have assumed so far, and the real Percival Graves aka Dumbledore might have already established the contact with Ezra because he was looking for his grandchild.

Is it really clear if surnames have to come from the father's line who knows what laws they had concerning names? It would be better better to argue with genetics or some sort of magical traits inherited by the offspring.

No. If you read the third book, Sirius was the first one to ever escape. Just because we don't know about Merope's mother doesn't mean she is in Azkaban. Besides, Merope was born in 1907, while Aurelius was born in 1901. It's also false about Aurelius speaking to Nagini. So far in the series, she's still a woman. Sure she can turn into a 🐍 but that doesn't mean Aurelius has spoken to her in Parseltongue. You could be right about Dumbledore's sister theory. Not sure why you are insisting the baby is half Gaunt. You don't have to be a Gaunt to speak Parseltongue.

So you don't have to be a Slytherin and apparently it's not hard to speak it if you can copy how others say it. Harry Potter also speaks it but he's not a descendant of Slytherin. Possible candidates to me are Theseus or Kama. Less likely possibilities are Jacob, even though he is a muggle or possibly a squib, or Abernathy, who seems to be surprisingly prominent even though it's far from clear why. I know that they have had to drop Abernathy from FB3, but they could bring the character back for FB4 and FB5 with a different actor.

Except the fact that it was Leta’s MOM who was black not her dad, so Corvus WOULD IN FACT BE WHITE unless Corvus’s mother was ALSO BLACK, which they show in the movie to very much NOT be the case. Please get your facts straight

It would make a lot of sense because the one thing that the general public might know about the Stone is that it can turn other metals into gold (thanks to the church and human greed). I think Albus would've also picked the name as a sort of nod to that fact because the stone can do so much more than anyone thinks.

But we don't actually know that, that McGonagall is Minerva McGonagall, it could be her Mother or an aunt of hers or some other relation with the last name McGonagall.

Plus they removed her birth year from her info page on Wizarding World. Still holding out hope it will all work out in the end though.

The McGonnagall retconning isn't a retcon though. She never had a canon birthdate or a canon year she started at hogwarts in the books . People just assumed the correct dates by the line where she tells Umbridge how many years she has been teaching at Hogwarts. But if you assume that her teaching years weren't uninterrupted and that she left for some time and came back later, then it can make sense

The problem is that the rules of the unbreakable vow were never set, is more like a plot device than a lore piece. For example, how the vow know when is broken if there is not a time limit? For example if Snape don't kill Dumbledore that night but had planned to do it the next week, would he died because he didn't do it in the moment? And what if he keeps postponing, in what moment did he failed?

I immediately took issue with the unbreakable vow because if Corvus was drowned it would have been broken and Yusef would be dead. So either Corvus survived, the unbreakable vow is breakable, or Jo was on shrooms when she wrote this script.
