you are right about in the same boat as I am. I always had a hunch but just thought ok where is the proof? I was into new age stuff in my 20's because I had a sort of mystical experience of god and thought of it as a sort of oneness with the universe type thing. But that wasn't very satisfactory. A few years ago I started to listen greatly to classical music and just sat in wonder of how beautiful it was. Many times I had to pull over to the side of the road in my car just stunned by it. I thought it was this mystical oneness with the universe again. But then i went to see handels messiah and read the words in it from the bible, and picked up the book Mere Christianity and was just so impressed with it. What lennox says here is what CS said that we are moral people and it's built in. Why? I''m pretty sure I I I know why. I felt as though I had just opened myself up to it all, one has to be willing to just open yourself up to it and it will come. Also watching the Chosen didn't hurt either. All of this happened around the same time

I was where you are this time last year. The difference between this and believing in the Christian way/ believing that Jesus is who he said he was after 40 years on this Earth was literally prayer. Just pray, just be honest with God and be like " I don't know what's right, can you work with me on this?" It's shocking how your mindset can change. It's the Holy Spirit I believe. I just asked to know the Truth about Jesus because no amount of proof can cut it... And now I just know through and through. Nothing changed... I just know without a doubt now which is super bizarre.

In a recent conversation with two catholics he said, the protestant view of believing in God and that will save you, is wrong, you have to do something on your own. Thats work-based salvation, which isnt the gospel at all. The Gospel says: Jesus died for our sins, he had done it. Religion says: Be good, maybe you will earn the grace of god. (Which is ironic, because grace cant be earned by definition) Catholic is the same as every religion in the world, only with christian labels. It is not about "we are the best believers" or something, its about eternity! If you believe, there is anything you can bring to the table, to get to heaven, i highly doubt that these people are even saved, because they dont trust in Christ alone.

You do not have the authority to interpret the gospel. You cannot work your way to heaven, but you cannot have saving faith without works. This was always a block for me. Not that I'm some super intellectual but I am pretty well educated and well read and always thought science was the way to go. Science and logic and the bible seemed like just stories, myths, etc

The verse on being saved by faith through grace and not works is one of the strong delusions provided by God to deceive those who receive not the love of the truth, 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 "And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: [12] That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness." To suggest that you can be saved without works is a lie and makes your religion "vain", James 2:20 "But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?" James put it this way, James 2:17 "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." Many souls will perish because they believe this delusion, "saved by grace." Even Jesus taught believing on Him alone was not all that was required, John 8:51 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death". You must have works! Most people like the delusion provided by God and few love the truth which requires sacrifice.

Lewis was much wiser and not so divisive, I would say. And he wrote "a Christian society would be what we now call Leftist."

@@officialthomasjames But the Bible doesn’t say that. People at Antioch started a trend by calling disciples and messengers of Yeshua “Christians” which at the time was really more of a jab at them. God though, nor the Messiah, never called us “Christians”. That’s an invention of man. Things we are called are Children of God, followers, disciples, and my personal favorite - Hebrews (meaning “one who has crossed over”). It’s a mouthful, but what we really are are Children of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and disciples of the Messiah, Yeshua. I tend not to favor things with a Greek origin (such as the term “Christian”), though Messianic isn’t much better because it’s not in the Bible. So I tend to just call myself a Hebrew, or a Hebrew Believer. I don’t really have to be called anything though. I am His and He is mine. I know Him and I follow Him. Titles are really only important to people, but not God. I believe and I follow. I obey. That should be enough.
