I think Dotcom is awesome and its incredibly embarrassing how he has been treated. The NZ prime minister is a shamefully gutless US pawn who allowed this disgraceful raid and vilification of Dotcom - shaming NZ globally and making the country look like complete idiots world wide. For some reason they wanted to make an example of Dotcom and these embarrassing, possibly illegal raids were a failed attempt to do so. Dotcom could offer unrivaled innovation and advancements to NZ's woefully sub-par internet infrastructure and on a global level, his ideas on preserving privacy could benefit the global internet community. I kind of remember using this site when I was younger and, if I am remembering correctly, I am sure that they specifically stated that you were not supposed to upload things that were copyrighted. So if the uploaders are putting stuff up there that are copyrighted then it is the uploader’s fault not the site’s fault. It is not like he is going around saying ‘hey, upload your pirated stuff here.’ No, it was known as the place to save and share your files with friends or coworkers. Plus this is not the only storage and sharing site around either. I do not see the US government going after anyone else.

***** exactly, before they had to spend tons on making a master dvd/cd then buying tons of blank dvd/cds, now they can skip it all yet they still want the $13+ of a cd/dvd quality format with less audio/video quality and expect most people to have credit cards to pay for it. if they just lowered the price then any/everyone would buy hard copy that is much higher quality. that said, a high quality good/item will sell much more than a seemingly good item and yet far inferior one @ a fair price anyone can afford!

He is a victim, he uploaded nothing that is illegal. The person who make mega upload shut down are the user. The user are the criminal, not him. Since they are abusing the website. The FPI could had done something better than just shut down the website or charging him in his own house.

My opinion is that what was done against Kim Dotcom is just wrong. He did not share (himself) the piracy content. I mean (for example) external hard drive makers produce external HDDs that people may use to share that same content, and "you" don't go shutting down and/or spying that company... The solution is to have a regulator and a way to denounce the content and consequently notify the user and if he doesn't do anything delete it. BTW (as I read on some websites) Megaupload had such system. "This is serious overkill" This kind of situations just makes me want to say: fuck the U.S. Government
