I support your arguments, Kim. Keep it up! Besides, the interviewers questions at the end: "Behaving like a lunatic". WTF?! Is living your life, now being a lunatic?
Great interview Kim. You've won many, many admirers here in N.Z. with your down-to-earth attitude, charm, and Kiwi-type irreverent sense of humour. I hope you prevail then turn the table on the Feds and sue their asses off.
We, the Citizens, have to make clear that a "copyright infringement" cannot be compared to a violent crime. How come bootlegger get five years of jail time while child abuser are free on a 22-month probation? That is because money is way more important than an unique human life.
Kim was ahead of his time. Google Drive is ok but not Mega Upload? Our company used Mega Upload to move HUGE post production files across the Atlantic. Yes the film industry. Same industry that brought Mega Download down. Horrible what happened to Mega Upload and Kim. BTW. He is a good dude. Know of Kim since WAY back when we all got into computers. Yes the 80s. My Euro friends days. ;)
This interview is amazing!! this guy knows exactly what he's talking about, i think everybody should watch this interview, spread the word... Kim dotcom is the man
I was young when this happend. I understand now. This man is innocent. Once again, another innocent person the matrix is trying to supress. I see it now. Kim i will support you.
The accusations against you is really strange...3rd party users is responsible as you say. It would be like the car manufacturers is responsible for speeding drivers. Is the case still going on? If finished... what was the outcome?
Been following your saga on torrentfreak since UMG took the mega song down. I also saw the interview with your bodyguard. Even before that, you had my support. Still waiting on Megabox though. I hope you can get it online; it's definitely one of the best ideas i've heard for music distribution ever. Keep up the fight!
What I remember from megaupload is trying to watch a movie and never been able to find a working megaupload link because they all had been taken down. And today I'm able to easily find links to watch movies with no restrictions on putlocker or others sites of the sort. Megaupload was pretty much the best one to take down copyrighted stuff.
I am surprised Dotcom was able to keep such a cool head in this interview. His reactions to the authority's raid on his place sounds like the reaction that everyone starts with before they become chronically exposed to these things. I believe everything he says in this interview.
I, too, had many files on it that I was sharing (mostly documentaries on environmental issues), and I, too, was pissed off when it happened overnight. But I saw it coming, I had even warned some people (who had premium accounts) a few months before, and I knew there was no point in complaining afterwards. It was good while it lasted but it obviously could not last forever.
I respect KIM DOTCOM :) he's a nice guy and it's not his fault. It's like he said... the movies (for example) should be released on the same day, or at least week on every country, not only USA.
Great interview, John Campbell asked all the right questions to allow Kim Dotcom to build a solid case for himself in front of the audience. Thanks to that, most of the viewers at the time (including myself) came away from watching this being 100% on Kim's side. Well done!
The thing is this; actually Kim's argumentation is solid... if he wouldn't raise it for megaupload of all one-click-hosters, because megaupload is involved into kino.to-group, which systematically filled megaupload and some other 1-click-hosters with copyright protected material; that's the only reason why he indeed violated copyright...
We need a commission of inquiry into the Megaupload case. There is no natural justice here and we have seen basic legal concepts and processes turned on their heads. This is a miscarriage of justice.
If i had money i would support him, but all i can do is like this video and leave a comment, with hope he wins. I give you the best of luck Kim Dotcom.
Everyone should have access to movie trailers and movies at the same time. Not that six months later like Kim Dotcom says. The release date, at least for the movie trailers should be the same all around the world.
11:00 - Great point. I download TV Shows not because I have no intention of paying for them, but because I'd rather not wait a year for it to be published in my country.
Maybe the interviewer was stuck up to a certain extent, but he certainly gave Kim the chance to properly defend himself and was more than fair. Even though some of his questions seemed tricky, Kim was able to use them to his advantage and always came on top. It was an awesome interview. His "self-rightousness" only fed Kim's intelligent answers. He tried to ask questions that seemed to be biased against Kim's work, as if asked by Hollywood itself, but see, it didn't work on Kim.
