Keep in mind this song came out 19 years after the band was formed. It's RARE a band starts pumping out new hits at the top of the charts 19 years into their career. More typically bands go into touring with their greatest past hits and have a hard time having even mild success with new songs. They busted back onto the music scene in a major way in the late 1980s and again in the early 1990s.

The irony is a duet with a Rap Band in 1986 opened them up to a whole new generation on MYV. I was in 8th grade when they did ‘Walk This Way’ with Run DMC and it was a huge hit to everyone in my class. A lot of people from my generation didn’t realize it was a remake of Aerosmith’s 1970’s song. Aerosmith went on a run from 1987 to the early/mid 90’s as they ruled MTV.

Musically this one just absolutely hits it out of the park. Such a groove, such riffs. Joey Kramer's drumming is some of his best ever. But personally I still lean towards 70s Aerosmith. Too much of their comeback era lyrically amounts to "I'm off the drugs, so now I'm a sex addict!"

I also disagree with this. The only decent 70s Aerosmith song was "Walk This Way".....and that didn't even get really good until the 80s version. And then the band had their golden period up until 1993 or so. And then briefly with "Jaded" in 2000. Then they died.

If you do a full album, it should be Toys in the Attic. I was going to recommend that "Sweet Emotion" for your next Aerosmith song, but it's on Toys in the Attic, so you'll hear it if you do the whole album. As far as '80s/'90s Aerosmith, "Cryin'" is my favorite, but others will call for "Janie's Got a Gun" or "Living on the Edge". I think that all of these songs are better than "Love in an Elevator", not that the latter isn't also good.

For albums, Toys in the Attic is probably the place to start, although I have a soft spot for Get Your Wings - their raunchy second album where they're just coming into their real groove. For 80s(-90s), the 3-album run Permanent Vacation, Pump, and Get a Grip are all a little overlong (CD era), but still jam-packed with hits and cool deep cuts.

"Love In An Elevator" is one of Aerosmith's best MTV-era songs, great riffs, witty, sexualized lyrics, killer drums and a band that sounds like they are having a ton of fun while making music. All traits of their first four or five albums. Anything from "Aerosmith", "Get Your Wings", "Toys In The Attic", "Rocks" and "Draw The Line" will work. Specifics: "One Way Street", "Somebody", "Movin' Out", "Make It", "S.O.S.(Too Bad)", "Lord Of The Thighs", "Train Kept A Rollin' ", "No More No More", "Nobody's Fault", "Uncle Salty", "Last Child", "Rats In The Cellar", "Combination", "Kings And Queens, "Milk Cow Blues".

Many of us who grew up with Aerosmith assumed they were dead and not coming back after their first implosion. Aerosmith got me started on my rock journey. My parents listened to country, my sister listened to pop. I was 10 years old in '75, and the teenager two doors down bought the Toys In The Attic cassette, and would blast it from his Ford Bronco sitting in his driveway. I loved what I was hearing, and asked him one day who was that band? The rest is a long history of rock and roll bliss for me.

Just FYI, at the time, many folks and critics said they felt there was an homage to the Beatles' Sgt Pepper album in this song which was caused by the inclusion of the piccolo trumpet blasting through the background, mostly in the last third of the song. Also, it should be noted that the first of the guitar solos was played by Brad Whitford, a very underrated guitarist, erroneously thought of as merely the rhythm guitarist to Joe Perry's lead. I'm sure someone will mention the beginning of the video to this :D

There used to be a late night TV rock show in the UK that, through its history, changed its name from "The Power Hour" to "Raw Power" to "Noisy Mothers". The theme for one iteration included part of the solo from "Love in an Elevator". At the time (very early 90s) the show jump started my interest in current music again (the late 80s with manufactured pop pap had led to me abandoning chart music). The show let me discover new bands and be there to hear the advent of grunge. And see/hear Aerosmith for the first time - Steve Tyler's mouth and an unconnected TV advertisement including the term "flip top head" seemed the perfect match. 😂 The point of my rambling is that hearing that Aerosmith riff reminds me of how I re-engaged with "new" music and expanded my music collection.

Try some early Aerosmith. Toys in the Attic, Sweet Emotion, Combination, Seasons of Wither. That was their prime.

I loved Aerosmith's whole 80s/MTV resurgance!! Pump and Permanent Vacation were great albums. Yes, I love their 70s music sooo much, but I think they're one of the only artists to pull off having 2-3 separate & great eras of original music. Janie's Got a Gun is one of my favorite's from their 80s songs.

1993's GET A GRIP album shows how tight they were when they sobered up. Some of thier best stuff on that record.

Motley Crue was the same way...once they sobered up and got away from drugs, they killed it with the Dr. Feelgood record...
