In the past 2 years, Malaysia's economy has been on the down low due to covid. Although thankfully, economy started coming back up in the past year; inflation fell into place which caused the price of food to rise up and many went jobless. Will we ever recover from this downfall?

Malaysia always had a high potential, but unfortunately that will always remain as potential with all the corruptions going on. FDI is slowly moving to other countries, midsized manufacturers trying to come in is faced with ridiculous demands (forced to buy dato datin relative lands and couldn't expand as demand of land is not met trying to squeeze as much as possible from incoming manufacturers, post setting up then staged a force take over, etc.)

Never would have guessed Tengku Zafrul himself would appear on your show! I loved this video and that line near the end "... because this is our home". It got me right in the feels, just like when I flew home from abroad the first time and the flight attendant announced upon landing, "...and to all Malaysians, welcome home." I grew up with elders who would speak often of the corruption and discrimination, and how they all encouraged us to migrate away. Then later, I saw my friends who had the opportunity, leave and lead better lives in countries like Singapore and Australia. Be that as it may, I'm still here... hanging to hope that Malaysia will someday become the country I can be proud of. I also do believe in the potential that Malaysia can be great. With our former PM behind bars, I feel more hopeful than ever. I, too, dream of a better Malaysia!

@@rahmanwang Banks have to beg SG govt to borrow money and offer very low interest so that the bankers have a job to do. Otherwise, they will be retrenched. SG has billions in the CPF and can be tapped to build the impending Changi Airport T5 terminal and Tuas Mega port. Certainly needs more "trained" manpower. A security guard, waitress, store assistant working in SG earn at least SGD1,850 (roughly MYR6,000). Needless to say, a qualified accountant, engineer, doctor would be earning above MYR12K per month if they can find a job in SG. So, why not work in SG. Google, Amazon, Shopee, Lazada, Alibaba, Tencent, Citibank, Sony, Panasonic, Toyota have their Asia Pacific HQs in SG. Not to mention. LVMH, Johnson and Johnson, Nestle , Toyota, Panasonic, Sony, Apple, Citibank, etc. Need to treat people with fairness. Equal opportunities for male and female, regardless of race, religion, etc. Working as a team, flourishing together and get rewarded

Our diversities itself is a key, we are not stuck to 1 language and 1 culture and compared to our neighbor at the south, we are cheaper to hire. This is what my bosses (I've worked with Japan based and India based but international companies) told us when they explains why they choose Malaysia when they want to expand the business in southeast Asia region. Actually Malaysia is already using a similar economic strategy like that of Singapore, south Korea and other 4 asian tigers by closing off then opening up their economy through controlling their tariffs However, moving forward, I honestly think meritocracy should be the way to go for best economy push, there should not be racial bias in the country but I could see other races in politics not being popular due to less empathy with the people, so I would suggest a mostly Malay government but meritocratic economy. If Malaysia can pull that off, it will reach first world status no doubt, just don't attack Singapore afterwards though

top issues for Malaysia are the lack of reliable law enforcement and long-term planning. If you need good people to stay and serve the nation, you need to provide security and prospect for abundance. Sense of belonging is a given for most Malaysians (while Singapore is trying very hard to create that sense of belonging) but the lack of more basic needs such as financial security, safety etc are pushing people out to serve other nations instead. We are too blessed with natural resources that we can afford so much bullshit with politics. If we don't solve the "brain drain" issue (maybe there will never be political interest to pursue this as the incumbent wants to stay in power), we will never achieve developed nation status and Malaysia will forever be "developing".

I wished our recycling department would be better, not just in KL but also our other states in Malaysia. About 10 years ago I came across a video of how people in more developed countries had plastic bottles recycling machine where you just put your plastic bottles in and it ejects money, as an encouragement of creating a more sustainable environment. I am aware of the vandalism here in Malaysia due to the poor culture, we can't even enjoy rented bikes because people here steals them, however, places like Penang successfully launch such facilities so we can work from these places first

Malaysia has everything other people needs. Fruits, eggs, oil, semiconductor and now graphene and seaweed. It is unwise continue to be a key commodity supplier without negotiation power. Thinking more of making more little money instead of being a leader of supplier chains in something really good. World class Education and banking system, Green Industrization, Energy and Food Management, Data sciences, marine research, high quality infrastructure, IoT and semiconductor key material supplier that uses Malaysia resource to make others pocket fat. Where are the leader and scientists going today...Surely, if Malaysia boleh is real.. it must to be realized it.

I disagree with Malaysia becoming a high income nation, we are an export driven country with lots of palm oil and manufacturing. We also can only attract foreign businesses to be set up in Malaysia by having a "cheaper" workforce. By becoming a high income nation, you will loose out the competitive edge by having a high myr. So I suggest, not to promote so much on becoming a high income nation, if you want to, maybe just go to Singapore? As sg is a country with little export but more import.

Please brother, Malaysia Ringgit is 3.23 per- SDG dollar. Malaysia is a poor and less developed nation. A sanitation worker, in Singapore can earn RM10k in terms of Ringgit. Focus on education, let 100% school leavers get higher education or l see Malaysia fail and become a pariah nation. I do not see any future in Malaysia, unless it's citizen here desire for a change and want to make a difference in this land.. since 78% of SPM leavers don't want to further education, if shows........

ok, FDI indeed create jobs for locals. But what kind of jobs? Like factory supervisor, chips installer that requires 0 knowledge about knowledge and engineering? The low tier positions are offered to locals, but the high-tier positions like engineers are offered to foreigners. I wouldn't say all foreign investors do it in this way but most of them are. So, Malaysia possess 0 technology from them and they invest here just simply we are LOW COST LABOUR. Like indonesia situation stated in this video, we have actually no different between them. I would disagree with 9:11 . In fact, we have started for over decades but we are still trapped. And ya, Malaysia was once able to compete and have the same potential with Korea, Singapore and Taiwan, and now we have to lower ourselves to compare with undeveloped countries in Southeast Asia. Malaysia improving? Just see how the currency exchange between our ringgit MYR with SGD and Thailand Baht in these few years, ya malaysia is improving but backward. And the most annoying thing in this video is you invited a politician to give a talk to Malaysia economy instead of an independent experienced economic professional lol. Even Malaysia bankrupt today, our dear finance minister will also say Malaysia economy are good.

Malaysia only turned south during the pandemic? In my book, Malaysia has been stuck, unable to advance for the past 30 years. Since 1993, the KLSE has only grown about 50%. In the USA, the SNP500 has grown 1000% over the same period. The stock market is important because our retirement incomes and wealth are linked to it.

Look, Malaysia has a TON of potential but you still have high corruption, favoritism and an incompetent government. Non Malay people are leaving Malaysia for better opportunities elsewhere. The policy that a non Malaysian person can not lead Malaysia says it all. (Don't get me wrong, I love Malaysia and I want her to be Singapore 2.0 but changes must happen.)
