Same I saw this in theatres with my folks and the ily humor I sensed was I thought queen latifah was pretending to go Michel myers on the lady. as I got older and saw the movie I was "Oh sh!t" lol
People complaining "oh this couldnt be made in 2020, etc. Yes people in general are TIRED of racists. However this was race comedy done correctly, not in a cheap way that isn't funny like a lot of people go for. I'm black. I laugh and quote this song TILL THIS DAY. why? Shits funny af and the joke lands so well.
It couldn't be done because they don't allow race comedy like this very often, if at all. It doesn't respect the audience enough to expect we know racism is bad so instead of showing how ridiculous a racist can be they lecture us that racism is bad as if that is ground breaking. And they pre-emptively use race in marketing a movie to defend anything from criticism (gender and sexuality as well). So yeah it wouldn't be made now. Where have you been
It's 4am. I couldn't sleep and somehow thought of this song and was only 50% sure it would be on YT without being removed. This is so uncomfortably funny and the lady is so into the song with her voice scaling up and down 😂 and everyone's comments here are too good y'all are funny as hell 🤣
When I was in middle school I used to watch this movie all the time….those were the days 😩🥹 I am 32 years old now and this scene is still hilarious and kind of emotional because I miss my childhood 😫😂 I’ll be okay though ❤
This was at a time when racial tensions were not so high so we could laugh at things like this. now with everything going on, of course you might not find it funny. it was definitely funny at the time.
