Elden Ring is great, but nowhere near as good as MHW. I’ve played both recently and MHW just has a quality that’s hard to beat. It has everything Elden Ring has but it just does it better and more efficiently. The resources are important, farming is fun, you can play a weapon for 100 hours and still find new ways to take advantage of the move set……I could go on, but I won’t lol
@@DucatiDiaries Lol you never played the game..... Enjoy it man. It's a learning curve in the beginning, but once you get down the mechanics, it's nothing short of MAGICAL..
@@kermkerma quick google search would tell you that the time to do all dlc for mhw, and 100% completion, is roughly 6 times more than that of Elden ring…
I have put my playthrough on hold to go back to Elden Ring lol. Went from 0 To early Iceborne and need a little break before going back to the beautiful grind I am also now a way better Elden Ring player ...
@@juicecup63rdthis is a skill issue from you not a design issue from MHW. It’s definitely smooth and a dance as he mentioned once you understand how to use your weapons properly. If you think it’s janky you just suck
It's the most accessible out of all the mainline titles. As a best title, maybe a close second to Monster Hunter Generations. That's from my eyes at least.
can I ask what yo ulike about Generations? Prior to the release of MHW I tried MH Gen ultimate as my first MH game and bounced off it hard as it was a huge chore and I hated the constant load times between zones. MHW was far more interesting and accesible
@@StewNWTyou are too new to the monster hunter games, the load time was in all monster hunter games, world change it, but in generations you have the arts, and the posibility to control a felinen (you can change your play style alot)
i played this game back in 2021. I didn't like it at first but i gave it a few hours and it started to click. My brother however didn't like it, and traded this game for dark souls 3, which was my least favourite souls game. I'll give this game another go when i buy my own console. For those considering buying this game, GIVE IT TIME, IT WILL START TO CLICK.
At today's day I still play. It was my first Game for PS4, and I already played some of the firsts one. I remember seeing Monster Hunter Freedom 2 in a shop, feeling like it could be a good game. I don't regret of anything since that moment
I have 700 hours in the world and I just feel like a casual player compared to some peoples play count. Another 600 hours I have in rise and Sunbreak. Really looking forward to Wilds
I definitely respect World for making the series bigger but honestly, it isn't in my top 3 monster hunter games 3U, Sunbreak, and 4U are still my favourites only if World had an offline mode where you could pause and didn't ruin the decoration system with pure RNG I would favour it over 3U. BUT World/Iceborne does have the best gathering hub in the series
No life since I found this game :) , 38 years and it's without any doubt the best game I ever played, current 400 hrs and haven't finished the game cause I'm trying all the weapons that i want, farming for the weapons and armors that I want, tying different builds etc etc. The level of details in every aspect of the game is amazing and the combat is so good!
Mhw is a fantastic experience as a mhw veteran the mechanics is so refreshing and satisfying unlike old school mh gameplay is slow and frustrating i dont want that kind of mechanics anymore in mh series some mh youtubers saying they like old school than the modern mh tbh they should move on
For sure one of the best of all times. Also, one of the hardest, if you want to face endgame bosses. 200h+ and I still haven't got to beat Alatreon solo. It's much harder than Malenia from Elden Ring.
@@VadeInSpiritu finally, other people who share the same thoughts as iam. But im not gonna lie, Malenia is still hard as shit for a souls game boss, harder than inner isshin and father and Orphan of Kos, but Alatreon still managed to be harder than Malenia because Alatreon took me 3 days to beat him for the first time, while Malenia only took 2 days. I absolutely hated Alatreon for kicking my ass and draining me of my resources even if i have the botany research center, but hundreds of hours later, Alatreon has become my favorite monster in the franchise so far (Fatalis as a 2nd). And im VERY GLAD that my avatar dragon boi managed to bag #10 in the Hunter's Choice voting poll 😭
Still gonna throw my hat in for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night as it is a huge influence on a lot of my favorite games, and is one I periodically go back and play through and enjoy still
Man MHW is a breathtaking game never played any version of this series but I fell in love with this game to get a new game will be amazing as mid 20 year old when I played this I felt like a kid on a adventure especially when I played with other hunters
after my humble nearly 200 hours of gameplay, I confirm that this game is amazing, there is just some issues regarding the hitbox and the dodge issues but it's nothing compared to some other amazing stuff in game.
Ninja Gaiden on Xbox was one of the first game I was force to just get good in. Beating that game was brutal and would love a feature on even with its horrible story 😂
The satisfaction I had when I finally defeated Rachel…after taking a six month break because I was so frustrated. And then to beat the game…I literally ran around my house for five minutes. Back when my knees were still good. Lol.
Only thing I dislike about MHW so far, is the hitboxes for a lot of monsters “sweep” attacks are way larger than they should be, many times they’ll pull me into their move set even though the closest body part of the monster is like 6 feet away from me. And this might be biased, I main GS atm, I’ll bash my way through to the final TCS, and the monster will move literally milliseconds before my sword hits all of the time, very annoying😁
I’m a professional game designer and director, which is a way to say that I make my living analyzing other games for good mechanics. While the best mechanical game of all time is likely Tetris, imo MHW is the best game product ever made because of how many systems it has and how polished all of them are, as well as the amount of content it has
It's a great showcase of what the series can be when firing on all cylinders but I don't agree. I like Rise for all the small qol stuff and faster more agile gameplay. World's world though is unmatched and the gathering hub is the best it's ever been. I mean if they had palamutes it'd be near perfect as traversal gets tedious since monsters running is a pain in the ass. My only real gripe with World is end game, it's Fatalis gear or bust (although it was the last challenge so i kinda get it), at least the level of customization and diversity of viable skills let Rise's end game be more flexible and leave room for expression skill wise, reminds me of 4U. I pray Capcom learned from this and going forward to Wilds there won't be such a rigid endgame.
I love everything about monster hunter world except for 2 things they did to the game what wasn’t there in the older games. First they added stagger to monsters and second they added random sleeping animation for monsters that just happened for no reason in the middle of the fight.
That means either your Palico, or you have a sleep status effect weapon that's putting the monster to ZzZZZzz. It's a good damaging window, since the very first blow that hits them while asleep deals double the damage.
I've just started MHW and MY GOD, this is not a game but a full time job, it's way too overwhelming for me, the learning curve is awful and there's just way too many things. I think I'll continue to play Dragon's dogma Dark arisen.
The "best game ever" would logically be a Role Playing Game with as much Choices & Consequences as you can imagine. Basically, a simulator that incorporates all genres, where it forces you to play with the capabilities and limitations you set down for your character. Dialogue choices. Stat choices. Gameplay choices. Consequences for choosing the above three. Last time I checked, Monster Hunter isn't an RPG. No dialogue choices disqualifies it immediately. And I say this as someone who solo'd: Freedom 2 Freedom Unite Portable 3rd 3 Ultimate 4 Ultimate Generations World
MHW is a game that I still really love, there's just two franchises that I'll buy no questions asked, Monster Hunter and any Souls like Fromsoftware throws my way.
I tried to play it twice for a dozen hours each. I just couldn't get into it. Initially I didn't get Dragon's Dogma neither, but on my second try it clicked and I finished it twice since. I dunno, I can't seem to get into the combat in MH.
You have to pick a weapon and stick with it. There is a review that sums it up perfectly: “you have to play Monster Hunter on its terms.” Be patient. Pick a weapon, I personally think the Insect Glaive is a good starter and then opens up. So much fun to play.
Please, for the love of God Almighty, make a collaboration with Dark Souls or Elden Ring or any other fromsoftware souls game. Maybe even make it as difficult, that would be AWESOME! If they do that, I'll be there day one!
Gameplay loop of hunting monsters and upgrading weapons: 10/10 Convoluted menus and NPC dialog and other BS before actually being allowed to hunt: 3/10 Capcom leadership and their idiotic anti-player DRM policies: -6/10
I love the game and it’s tried-and-true concept, but I hate the character controls. It feels extremely restrictive and clunky, and although I never had trouble with any of the hunts or weapons, I just hated the movement of the character. If that was fixed/enhanced, I probably would’ve never put the game down lmao.
I bought the game because it was supposed to be good and accessible. My two hour refund period was spent on trying out all the weapons and trying to figure out what I was going to use. Then I played for another two hours and felt like the game was an overly complicated mess and quit. Love all the Dark Souls games and did NG+ runs so hard games are not an issue. MHW just wasn't interesting for me.
@SubiKinubi Why would you care about anyone else? If you play on a certain platform you would want it to be on your console regardless if it going to be on others. Plus console first is the best bet as there's more console players than PC. And on console there's more players on PS4/PS5 than Xbox.
Basically a co-op mostly bossfights rpg. It can be difficult but it’s not nearly as punishing as soulslikes. You don’t scale with levels but with weapons and armor. To craft those you hunt monsters and collect crafting items. That’s basically the gameplay loop. Kill a thing, make better equipment to kill larger thing, rinse and repeat. The learning curve is pretty fair. So if you like learning a game and getting to know the various types of monsters, weapons, and environments, you should definitely check it out.
It literally can't be souls like because the series pre-dates the first souls game. If you hear anyone comparing them, it's because souls likes took inspiration from MH combat, although MH combat is deeper and more fun
@@elk3407difficulty wise older MH is much harder because resources are limited and monsters hit like a train. Souls game difficulty is around high rank in old MH.G Rank is too hardcore i think.
Might not be the most in line with what is usually covered, but Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom. Those games really shook up the Zelda formula in a great way
