I'd love to hear your stories in the comments about your lemon law experience. I want the least hassle possible, and would also love to know if any of y'all had my same issue and it was resolved after getting the new pcm.
The video I shot when things were going wrong is here: • STRANDED for 14 hours ...
The next update after that is here: • STRANDED Part 2 - Here...
Thanks for watching and subscribing 🙏

I did lemon law on a Jeep here in California, not sure if rules are the same where you live. Here you can be made to pay for miles prior to the issue using a special formula. You can choose to get reimbursement for all costs and accessories you bought for the truck except insurance, time and hassel without going to court. I did mine thru arbitration at an in person case at a neutral site. If you want more info let me know and can try to help you.

Forgot to say you can request they replace the vehicle instead if you wish, but low inventory could be an issue. FCA was a joke and if follow the letter of the law you can easily win.

I have a 2020. Small city driving and have had Def light come on. It is stressful but have just been false alarms. Just drive it long every chance you get to regen. Keep it at least half full at all times. And even take off Def injector bolts and apply antiseeze. It is a great truck.

DEF and the SCR have nothing to do with the DPF (regen). Yes you do need to drive long and hot enough to successfully complete regens or your truck will tell you to "drive to clean". DEF is amonia which gets mixed with the exhaust gas in the SCR to reduce NOX exmissions, you don't have to do any special driving for this process to function. DEF has absolutely no impact on the DPF.

I bought mine in 2007 when the 6.7 came out. It had 26mi on the OD when I bought it, it ran great until it started showing the check engine light after a few months of having it. It went to the dealership 26 times in about 3 months for the check engine light and codes that where showing up on the ECM. Every time I took it in the diesel tech would hook up his laptop to it down load the codes and send them to the manufacturer, were they would look at them and then send out another program for him to download on his laptop and then to my trucks ECM and that was an all day event. So after talking to the tech I decided to "delete" the entire DPF system and I did that at 22,000mi on the OD, I now have 279,560mi on the OD and have never been back to the dealer until the transmission went out at 182,000mi. I found out later on that Chrysler was having program problems in the early stage of being the first disel trucks with the DPF system, Ford and Chevrolet waited until around 2008 before they complied with the new law. I still drive this truck daily and have not had a problem, knock on wood ever since. Good luck on getting your Truck figured out, that DEF is the most common problem nowadays with disel trucks.

@Todd J Cole thanks for the comment, that’s a lot of check engine lights but being the first to get the system it makes sense. Awesome though that the truck has been so solid since then. They sent a new PCM so I’m excited to get my truck back in a few days and see how it goes 🤞

Make sure you drive a Prospector XL. I drove a new 2022 regular cab 3500 Prospector XL. Rode pretty nice. Great looking truck. But for some reason just wasn't warm and fuzzy about it. Drove a lot of miles to look at it and enjoyed the test drive. Salesman didn't even tag along.

@@gavinwalker5686 I don't think they changed the gear ratio. Seemed sluggish. It was a Tradesman trim level too. There was a crewcab next to it that was on 40's. Should have probably driven it too. Something seemed to be missing. All of my trucks that I have owned were top trim levels. That could have made a difference. Awfully expensive to not like. Definitely drive one before buying one.

@gavinwalker5686 Год назад
@Scott Symons I’ll make sure to drive, thank you. Also, yeah that’s a lot of money for a tradesman trim level truck. I’d for sure get a higher trim level too. It has to feel expensive from the inside too, not just look it from the outside. And I’ve heard they are terribly sluggish if they don’t change the gears. I’d definitely do that too when the time comes.

When I did my Lemon Law. They will not pay for any modifications or changes (I had window tint). You will pay a certain rate for the mileage that you put on the car while it was in good working order. So if you started having problems at 8k miles. and now you have 15k because they have been ongoing with the repair. You will pay only for the 8k miles so I think it was like 50 cents. So they will reduce your settlement by $4k. They will reimburse what you signed on the dotted line - the miles that were "good"

Just make sure if you lemon law the truck and get another truck to make an off-roader/overlander. You get one that has the payload for the 5th if you plan to tow. If you watch some of the CJC off-road videos you can keep the payload while making the truck a lifted monster. That goes for any manufacturer of truck. I’m not an expert at all, a friend of mine has most of that knowledge. Appreciate the update.
@gavinwalker5686
@gavinwalker5686 Год назад
@David Brown I’ll definitely build an overlander regardless of what vehicle, that’s the overall goal! And towing would be nice too, instead of building out the sequoia we’ll get pretty soon. Trucks are just so much more handy with a family and all that payload capacity.
@DavidBrown-jt7yi
@DavidBrown-jt7yi Год назад
@@gavinwalker5686 I agree. My 2021 Ram Limited 3500 payload is 3800 which works perfectly for me. If you have a trailer, it’s definitely one of the main things to consider. Good luck.
@gavinwalker5686
@gavinwalker5686 Год назад
@David Brown dang that’s a big payload 🤯 Those limiteds are nice trucks too. I don’t have a trailer yet, I’ll have access to my in laws 5th, but you gotta have the truck before you can have the trailer, I’d hate to build up a half ton and then have to sell it to tow something big.
@wtbman
@wtbman Год назад
Once you own a 5th wheel you quickly learn that lifted trucks are garbage for that type of towing. The bed will be too high and come in contact with your trailer that won't ever ride level. The kinds of rims/tires/offsets generally used will reduce stability, payload and confidence on the road. Most offroad packages reduce payload too low for a 5th wheel and make towing dangerous. You can't have the best of both worlds with an HD truck. A Power Wagon and a bumper pull would be a better option for an offroader.
@gavinwalker5686
@gavinwalker5686 Год назад
Yeah I’d definitely have to lift the 5th wheel too and to keep it from coming in contact from with the bed, but higher isn’t better for stability. They do make some more off road worthy bumper pulls, so perhaps that would be the better route for long trips. A power wagon and bumper pull would be a good combo.

I've been following your journey. One thing worth pointing out is that it is illegal to delete the truck. What you are able to do locally is not necessarily reflective of the actual law. Removing /tampering with the emissions equipment is a violation of federal law (Clean Air Act)....it's a horrible law etc etc, but that is the textbook correct answer. Checkout the Diesel Podcast - they had a recent episode that discussed an actual lawsuit that was just settled over this. That said keep us posted...your demeanor definitely works to your advantage when dealing with the dealership. Unless you are totally different off camera LOL.

Just because you live in a rural area doesn't make a delete worth it. They've cracked down on manufacturers who make kits, and those who program tunes. When Gale Banks discontinues his "race use/offroad only" components in favor of CARB compliant products; you know the aftermarket manufacturers know the party is over. Anyway, the truck is still under warranty, if you delete it, it won't be anymore. Use the warranty to your advantage and learn how to fix as much as you can by your self in the mean time. I've owned my 2018 Ram since new and have only had the ABS pump go out on it. No DEF issues yet, but I know it's annoying when things act up on an expensive vehicle. Ford, Ram, GM... they all have their quirks.

I’d wait until after the warranty period if I ever was goi g to do anything, but like you said the trend is going a certain direction, so why delete and then later get forced to reinstall everything when laws tighten up more? It would be a pain. Plus, turns out it was just the pcm all along. I’ve still got a lot of warranty and a long time to test out the truck.

You can do lemon law but now a days it’s so hard to find a truck part of the problems have been production employees coronavirus everything that’s going on in the world and this is happening not with Chrysler but all makes and models including my John Deere tractor that took 13 months to get here the day I got it it broke and they had to split it in half, if dodge can fix your truck and you love that truck let them fix it and keep it, that’s what I would do I actually purchased a 2022 2500 today and I’m hoping I don’t have problems I traded in my 2022 long bed Dooley, I got rid of it because it was such a high end super fancy truck and for towing a tractor every day I felt it was just too big and too fancy so I decided to purchase a 2500 and I love it so far but I have recently been through a lemon law and it’s very time-consuming in the end you’ll get your money back or another Truck but the hassle of it it’s not worth it if they can fix your truck it’s under warranty just let them fix it if it gets so far out of hand of course then there’s an issue but if your dealers good the mechanics are good fix the problems just keep the truck you have a nice truck👍

Hello Galvan, Hope all is going well. I was pulling super heavy with my 2017 Ram 2500 cummins and caused my transmission mission to fail (68RFE) I also have 37s on the truck witch did not help. Anyways I've owned all 3 brands Ford, Chevy and Ram and I can tell you that FCA has been by far the best with warranty work to work with. GM is horrible and Ford will do anything to get out of paying for warranty work. So they rebuilt my transmission, they are rebuilding my transmission again right now due to a bad tyranny pump. The only other issue I've had was with the DPF nozzle. I also was thinking about deleting my truck but the hassle that comes from it is insane and to be honest I have not had a single issue with the dpf system and yes the truck is tuned. I have many friends who drive Ram trucks with the cummins that are emission equipped and have had no issues. I will say and it sounds wired but once in a while get on it hard and open her up on the freeway. I have had my truck for 5 years and have 165,000 miles emissions on and not had any issues with my Ram 2500 cummins, I have taken it mudding, hauled heavy and honestly raced it. I look forward to getting it back and filming in some quiet locations 😂 perhaps even beautiful ones, and some of the past videos, like the tire rubbing and the 7 things I appreciate about it, I filmed at the dealership too before giving them the keys to fix it, because as I was dropping it off I realized that they may have it for a while so I should shoot some videos in advance 🤦🏼‍♂️ poor planning on my part to not think about that earlier when I was somewhere quiet.

@John Stepanic so what would lemon lawing it do it that case? If I keep it, wouldn’t that just brand the title and lower the value?
@johnstepanic1183
@johnstepanic1183 Год назад
@@gavinwalker5686 I believe the Lemon law is a little different in every state but for the most part it (if Ram were to take the vehicle back) requires the manufacturer to disclose in writing to the next subsequent purchaser the nature of the lemon issue, the replairs performed, and that the specific lemon issue is protected by warranty for one year. The intention of the law is to prevent “lemon laundering”, whereby a lemon vehicle is not lemon law title branded and is passed off to an unsuspecting consumer. A lemon car title is similar to a salvage title for a total loss vehicle, though it is not as devastating to the car’s value as a salvage title. Even so, it further reduces the value of your already pre-owned vehicle, even if the manufacture can repair the lemon defect, because the lemon car title travels with the vehicle for the rest of its life.
@johnstepanic1183

I would go carli 3” or BDS 4” 4 link for the suspension. AEV looks like a spacer to me.

@Joe Lotto the base AEV lift is pretty much spacers, but front the spacers actually shift the axle forwards almost 2”, which is necessary to clear the 40s. But the upgraded suspension is what I’d get with the bilstein 8100s. But then again, I’m not sure what the shock travel is, if it’s the same or improves. Sometimes the truck feels under powered and the mileage is horrendous and then randomly will drive like a HO in comparison. Exhaust brake is pretty much worthless but that is most likely due to the egr failing. Truck doesn’t recognize the key fob is in the vehicle randomly a lot. Wiper fluid senso failed. This or these issues are not NEW. Better get is solved before warranty runs out. Some companies screw you on mileage. Sell it to a sucker... Then buy a pre 2002 .... or better ... a 12 Valve. If these guys would stop buying this junk and paying over $90,000... "".. Is the problem.." Dodge has no reason to improve their products/trucks as long as truckers keep paying full list price. Lots of luck. Get rid of it. A delete shop just got a 3 yrs prison sentence. NO I AM NOT MAKING THAT UP. His live is ruined///destroyed and house arrest too. The wonderful FBI/Feds pleaded with the judge to slap him with the maximum 10 years in prison. If you voted for Potato Head..... you deserve 10yrs... if caught. However, stop listening to the high school dropouts, that will be advising you that " ...hev man " Fu it " daey cant do nuttten to you....!! YES THEY CAN AND YES THEY ARE. @@gavinwalker5686 That guy is a reactionary; don't listen to him. The EPA goes after distributors, not users and this is from the EPA and their lawyers. That's why you see people who made a business out of selling defeat devices getting charged with federal crimes. The EPA is essentially targeting "drug dealers" to keep the "drugs" off the street. The Federal Government leaves it up to each state to figure out how they enforce vehicle emissions on individual end-users. This is why you see some places like California have very strict laws and other places like Texas, Florida, Michigan, etc, etc. not inspecting or testing. So if you are considering deleting, you need to know that while it is federally illegal, it's feasible in certain situations; know your state laws. That aside, if you are considering this path, I'd keep all the stuff you take off and in good working order, somehow find a reputable tuner (not easy), do the mods once with a custom tune and be done with it. If you run into issues one day, put the stuff back on and flash in a stock file.
