Yeah I’ll bet the 2017 systems are a lot worse than the current ones too. Still getting the kinks worked out. Ever since my new PCM, the system seems to be working pretty good on my Ram. I’ve driven it another 45,000 miles since then.

I do like the cummins (now that the pcm is good) but still, I'd rather have that off road capability than the towing and mpg.

It's not off the table, I'd definitely wait until my warranty expires at 100k miles. I'm about half way there now.

The loan is still in place. They simply give some cash compensation as an apology for the headache. The factory warranty remains in place as well, you simply cannot make another lemon law claim if any more repairs are delayed significantly.

That’s a great question! I just climbed under there and I’m going to say maybe… it’s pretty tight. The truck tires that came on it were 33.5” tall, I can’t recall the size and ratio, but came with 20s. The spare is 275/70R18. Roughly the same but smaller wheel. I think you could squeeze a 35” but the tire might be making contact with the backside of the receiver.

My metric size is technically a 35.1” height, and I know that some 35s are actually more like 34.5” true size. I know that’s how the KO2s are. I am in the market for new tires in the next 4-5k miles, asking discount tire which brands make a 12.5 wide that can fit on my rim and they say none of them do. The rim is a little too narrow, so I’m not sure why other tire shops are throwing 35x12.5s on there 🤷‍♂️ but no one has seem to have had issues.

I’ll tell you what these new trucks are expensive. I bought a new one but my goal is that in 25 years I’ll be talking about how I’ve enjoyed a paid off truck all that time too!

Haha yeah 40 is still pretty high but rams run at 65 normally. And, I’ve still got the factory 20s so I don’t have near as much sidewall as I’d like. Didn’t want to push the psi too low when I was unfamiliar with what it can do and I was so far from civilization with 4 little kids lol You have 65s on a 4000 lb truck? That thing must be unstoppable off road! What truck is it?

That’s good to know! I was amazed at the ride quality difference off road simply going from 65 -> 40. I don’t think I have enough sidewall for 13, but I’ll push it to 25 next time at least.

Also, while they did much better aired down a little in the mud, I do anticipate that the wildpeak at4ws that I’m looking to get next will be better AT tire in the mud.

I can’t say what I got, but it was no where near half the value of the truck. But it was a fair compensation for the time and hassle of not having a truck for over two months. But, I felt my issue was fully fixed with the new pcm, so I was ok to keep the truck. If your issue isnt one that can be clearly fixed, and you think you’ll have recurring issues, the repurchase may be the right thing for you. Definitely give it some thought.

I’ve definitely been happy with how well they’ve performed. By the time I will get new tires, this pair will have exceeded the manufacturer warranty by five or 6000 miles on all my vehicles, and any other tire I’ve ever run, I’ve never met the manufacturer warranty so definitely happy with how these things have worn down.

Never used them, I wondered about how people like them.

Ended up just being a bad PCM, but the errors in the PCM reflected a DEF malfunction, so it got extra hate since people hate def so bad 😂 after the new pcm the truck has worked pretty good.

When you say clondike... are you referring to the urban definition of that word? Because that's no way to ask someone for a recipe...

No way, it was an absolute blast. Saw so many beautiful sights, made great memories with the fam, truck towed amazing, met some amazing people when the tires blew - I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Hard to say exactly. They did amazing but we've never had KO2s on this vehicle. My truck has KO2s and those have done fantastic in the snow but I haven't done very much off roading in the snow. Just street driving, up and over passes in CO during blizzards, etc, and they did amazing.

@@gavinwalker5686 why I’m asking. We drive a lot in snow on paved roads. Then go off road on weekends. I seen some videos were people say the Baja boss a/t are better than bfg in the snow

@@vetomills4213 and what vehicle? ON the roads my KO2s have been fantastic, but haven't done a whole lot of off road snow. Did some that wasn't too crazy and the KO2s did ok. But, I imagine the Baja Bosses would be a little better because they are a little more aggressive. The KO2s didn't do that good in mud, it cakes on pretty good, so I'd assume that the right texture of snow might do the same thing and have a hard time clearing out. I'll also say that while I did overall like the KO2s, and they lasted 48k miles so far and by the time they're worn out I'd have exceeded their mileage warranty of 50k, I plan on trying something new next set. Either the Baja Boss or the new Wildpeak AT4s because my gut feeling on their tread design makes me think they'd be a little better for mud and deep snow.

@@gavinwalker5686 we have two jeeps. One with bfg a/t ko2 and another with wildpeak. We drive to aspen almost everyday for work. So snow is almost daily in the winter. Ko2s slip alot when the roads are a slushy snow. Definitely not good on ice. Why we were thinking of switching to the Baja Boss.

@vetomills4213 this jeep owner said fantastic in the snow. He has the AT version specifically, he has a friend with the MT version and they’re terrible in the snow (kinda expected).

Yessir! Me too, this is my end goal, or at least something close to it. I really like the AEV stuff.

AEV really does a great job matching the styling to the vehicle. Most high clearance bumpers look kinda goofy/miatxhed I think.

It was a pain in the butt for a while when pcm was bad, the truck has worked flawlessly ever since. Got 45k miles on it now. No other issues. The diesel is nice. But I’m sure the 6.4 Hemi drives nice too.

Cool you got it done early on. Since I bought an extended warranty when I bought the truck, I did t want to then go and void it be deleting 😅 ever since I fixed my pcm, it’s been almost flawless, so we’ll see how it’s been when my warranty runs out in a few years.

That’s impressive. Do you have the eisen transmission in the 3500? Or do you have a 2500?

I don’t speak Spanish but I understand the first part. Yes, heavy battery. But, lots of power and torque comes with it. And, it gives the vehicle a lower center of gravity and more contact pressure for off roading. So there are pros and cons for sure.

After replacing the pcm, it’s been a dang good truck. No other issues. Several other recalls but my specific truck never had any of the issues mentioned.
