We look at the WNBA Tank war and who the Dallas Wings have the best odds to land Paige Bueckers. Would Paige Bueckers choose to stay another year versus going to Dallas? Did Washington mess this up?
There is NO way that Paige is staying in college after 2025. She'd be 24 -25 years old when she left college at that point. Every rookie makes do with where they land. Paige is no different.
Just like Reese went to Chicago at seven, SEVEN! Top double double machine in the SEC and she goes SEVEN? Yeah, ok. Clearly planned. Happy she fell tho
Dallas had all their players back after the Olympics and won 3 games. A poorly put together team. McGowan and brown a centre is a problem as they get killed in pick and roll. Trammell brought in to help their defence and are in bottom of opp fg percentage. Will Bibb take another coaching scalp? Fred, Bryan, Vicki, & is Trammell next?
No she’s not next to get fired Injuries cause the problem forced to make changes for roster, signing hardships and rotatings but nothing works Jaelyn, Satou, Maddy and Natasha injured, Uzun and Sheldon contributed but it’s not enough cause they shorthanded
What is wrong with her going to Dallas? It is a great city, I like their coach, they have some good players. They need guard help, Jacy does not score enough and Paige is a decent defender.
The fear is not Dallas, it is PB going to team put together by Greg Bibb that is the issue. LA had issues but improved once.that.got rid of Derek Fisher who was also a train wreck.
I’m chuckling at all the knowitalls stating as fact that 2024-25 is Paige’s last year of college eligibility. What other “facts” in your minds are completely false?
I wish these people knew what they were talking about in the comments but unfortunately they don’t. Stay out of UConn bussiness! if 22 year old Paige wants to hoop for another szn with an amazing UConn team she can do that! she has one more year after 24/25 of eligibility! This lady was injured most of her time! and she has so much impact on the husky program stop hating! I prefer her at L.A with Rickea and Brink but i guess I can see her at dallas with her former teammate and satou but Im not a fan of ball hogger Arike
I want Paige in Dallas. Dallas is actually ready to win now. And she can potentially play with former almost teammate Lou Lopez Senechal. Maddy from Villanova is there. And the wings desperately need her. There is less enthusiasm around that team than there is around pretty much any other team in the wnba. Paige can sell tickets. She is a little like Caitlin Clark in that regard.
There’s a limit to how much she’ll improve her game playing another year in college. Also, interest in Paige will begin to dwindle - not tank, I’m not saying that- when fans begin to see her as a 25:year old college star.
if you notice at all she has put on 6-8 lbs of muscle already. herr body is very toned and she held her own playing forward for most of the time last year.
I think there's a reasonable chance PB will use her last year of eligibility to go after the championship she wants. She certainly doesn't need the piddly rookie-contract money of the W. Assuming that injuries don't decimate the UConn squad again, with Aubrey Griffin with another year of eligibility, and a better and more diverse frontcourt, UConn should have a decent chance of going a long way in the NCAA tournament. Particularly given that they made it to the Final Four last year (and lost to Iowa there by only 2 pts) with only seven players and without an effective backup for Aaliyah Edwards.
Just because someone goes to the WNBA doesnt mean they dont get any other income! College its called NIL, pro its called ENDORSEMENTS. Meaning the companies who paid her NIL money will more than likely sign her to endorsement contracts!
@@chhansen9813. She’s not staying beyond 2025, but you’re missing the fact that she redshirted her junior year because of the knee injury. She could stay if she wanted.
@@AnthonyTomassi-x4f THATS WHAT I SAID GENIUS! I love how people, LIKE YOU, talk shit anonymously on SM because you sure as hell cant do it in person! Every single person that does it is punk, ALL OF THEM!
No. Paige already said this was her last year. Paige also just can't stay another year. She can't be playing against Xavier and Butler in 2026. That can't happen. And UConn should tell her to hit the portal if she wants to play an additional year of college ball.
Good point. She’ll be 6 years older than any freshman she plays against. It’s time for her to move on. And if Paige fanatics insist she’s as good or better than Caitlin, let her prove it by leaving Geno’s farm already.
@@written12 seeing Caitlin against the best players in the world. Seeing what she achieved in the wnba. I think that it really showcased how Paige made a mistake. Paige should have been competing with her. Instead she has fallen behind even more.
@@TheDisruptiveOne Paige absolutely made the right choice too stay one more year. She wanted to enjoy the college experience. I dont blame her for staying and pretty sure her talent translates to the WNBA whether she went this year or next. Pretty sure she will have a rough 10-15 games when she arrives getting used to the WNBA game Just as CC did. CC didn't just break out and take the league by storm her first 10-15 games or so. She was leading the league in turnovers and averaged 11 points a game. Like Diana said some will get it quicker than others CC was one of the quicker ones. Same as Paige will probably do the same. Talent is Talent. I dont get your logic she wasn't behind her in college last year. Fact is her efficiency rating was higher than Clarks. So what CC is 1 year ahead of her developing as a pro. pretty sure we are in for plenty of great battles down the line form these 2 for years to come.
*Controversy sales tickets, you combo that with primal identity tribalism (race) and you're cooking with crease. There's a reason no one wants to do a deep dive into why and when CC became so popular because a dirty room is nicer with the lights off, and we can say it's the logo 3s as if Sabrina Ionescu doesn't exist.* _There's only three ways an athlete gains following;_ 1.) Dominance - which usually only has a bandwagon affect, meaning existing fans of the sport become supporters of the dominant team or player. 2.) Branding - which happens outside the sport and doesn't translate into viewers of the sport, because fans of the brand can be fans for any reason outside of the sport. 3.) Controversy - Why hasn't anyone won American Idol without a sob back story, because people get invested in others through stories. With the vast majority of people still attached to their tribalistic side and/or way invested in their coined identities... having a story with tribalism as an undertone is a great way to bait outsiders into watching. The WNBA commissioner understands and is why she didn't condemn the racial tension that's happening online, in an interview she had a week or two ago. At best these "fans" will turn into real fans (why not it has been a fantastic season), at worse the WNBA becomes a battle ground online for people with extreme views to fight each other perhaps even spilling over into the arenas. CC and Reese are really victims of sensationalism which summoned mostly fans who initiately pulled by their lower nature. _It's unrealistic to think to CC skills alone garnered this much attention to the league. Just like those who claim to be fans of music but won't have the interest of hearing songs from other languages they don't understand, they are fans of lyrics... same for those who claim it's her skills, when they are actually fans (or addicts) of the drama the media dreamt up around her._
Geno AURIEMMA has pushed Paige Bueckers over Caitlin Clark as the top High school 5 star athlete since they were in high school once he got Paige Bueckers to commit to UConn. Kind of scary how much power Geno has in the sports world with all his connections and all the UConn alumni in ESPN and pro sports.
GENO: CC isnt built for the physicality of the WNBA WNBA physicality = constant fouling and grabbing, and holding arms ME: If CC isnt built for the physicality of the WNBA, its going to be rough on Paige Bueckers cuz shes a TOOTHPICK!
Paige Bueckers has a lovely lithe physique but, I agree, unless she enhances her physical strength she could easily be injured. CC is a far more powerful female and she has been battered, but fortunately not injured, given some of the absurd fouls she has experienced. Someone should tell some of the players, that they are supposed to be going after the ball and not the player e.g. the player running into CC from the back, just ridiculous.
your a I. di. ot she has put non 8 lbs of muscle and is far from a toothpick she played the 3 most of the year last year and easily took the physical part of the game. I have seen her up close and in person and believe me she is not the skinny kid who got hurt as a sophomore and junior.
I don't think PB is necessarily a fit for Dallas. Uzun and Sheldon were rookies this year (granted Uzun had some international experience before coming to the W) and rookie point guards typically don't succeed in their rookie year. It took CC more than 1/2 the season to start to produce. I don't see PB and Arike co-existing, as has been said in the past, you can only play with one ball on the court. I still think (commented on a prior video) that Dallas needs to unclog the front court, and if they draft PB, they should consider trading Arike.
@@jordanlj1 Well Sheldon was the #5 pick in a pretty talented draft class. Ahead of Angel Reese among others. Somehow I don't think she'll be a 'one and done' castaway.
@@jordanlj1 Some folks agree with you, others felt that an 11 year vet (next season) who likely can't get up and down the court any more quickly than the current roster wouldn't be helpful. But ... she was DPoY a couple of seasons ago so that alone might be a reason to consider her for the Fever.
I have watched PB a lot and she is very good, but her injuries at a young age concerns me. Am I off in thinking to trade my pick for an already established player or players in a position that I need? Am I crazy or what? I mean trading a 50-50 chance to get a for sure good player seems at least worth a thought right?
The older Paige Bueckers gets before entering the WMBA the less credible her 'rookie' stats become. She should have blown off Geno and entered as a 22-year-old with the rest of her peers. Geno and Bueckers wanting an extra year at a *chance* for the NCAA Championship is a disgusting personal ambition. It ultimately does Paige a disservice and sends the rest of the team a message that they can't win a ring without her.
STFU BRO YALL SLOW! IT WAS PAIGE DECISION GENO DIDN’T KNOW! Besides SHE WAS INJURED and she finally got to play a full szn WITHOUT INJURY! THEN AFTER COLLEGE THEY GO RIGHT INTO WNBA Play that wouldn’t make sense for her! This off season she actually has time to better her skills and really showcase her talent!
Geno Auriemma is also, financially in deep now with Paige Bueckers in The Unrivalved League and two other unnamed projects. He needs Unrivalved to succeed and these other unannounced yet things. But most of all Geno needs Paige to be the star of the WNBA this year... Geno arrogantly believes that the torch has been passed to Paige now that Caitlin is not in college.. he wants UConn to win the NCAA Championship. Caitlin's fans came from all over... not just Iowa... anyone that watched her play got hooked on watching her. Caitlin created that feeling in fans herself: Not a UConn loaded team with 5 star athletes being pushed by a coach. A coach trying for 4 years to make people feel like they were idiots to be fans of the girl from Iowa... is not the way to try to get those fans to watch his protégé, Paige Bueckers.
@@ColleenYourAccess2me Your take on Geno is shared by very few people. And btw he’s not financially “in deep” with anything, and he doesn’t “need’ Unrivaled or anything else to succeed.
Bibb has failed as a GM. Everyone can see that except him. He needs to hire a real GM, tell new GM to get rid of Arike or not re sign her after 2025 and tell Paige it will be her team and she will have strong input on the roster.
Wings got caught with injuries, while key players return from injuries, they played limited to play cautiously It’s not their fault cause they have injuries
Dallas is absolutely NOT the right team for her. I can’t see her doing it-not the right market, not the right set up with Arike. LA is legit the right set up for her. Hell, Ive actually seen her here already in the city and I just think she wants to be here.
@@MrDallasblkLA is the 2nd largest sports market. I believe this was what they were getting at. LA is such a big market that it would be perfect for Paige. LA had the 4th highest attendance this season for a team that only won 8 games. The league needs LA to be relevant again, especially with bringing a Bay Area team next season. Having 2 competitive teams in Cali that can build a rivalry will be huge.
1. Born and raised in Los Angeles. 2. Been in Dallas 20 yrs now so I know both markets very well. 3. LA definitely holds a bigger factor in "paper" however, even when the Sparks were at their highest peak they still NEVER sold out games and definitely not on a consistent basis...facts! 4. LA is a bigger market population wise without question HOWEVER, Dallas is by far a better "sports market" than LA, make no mistake about that! In LA the only teams that matter are: Lakers & Dodgers...always been that way, always will be! You do realize the Sparks were literally on the verge of relocating not one but twice 🤔 Last point...I encourage you to research which top 3 WNBA teams have actually been profitable the past 3 years vs the remaining who have not, give you a hint which team is on that list while the Sparks definitely are not! Just a few things to consider 😎
I was born and raised in Los Angeles so I am well aware of the market size difference. I have lived in Dallas now for almost 20 yrs so I can easily tell you the differences & similarities in both places. It's true without question that LA is a bigger market than Dallas, however, you and the OP fail to take into account that Dallas is by FAR a better "sports market" than LA and it's not even close! The fact of the matter is, LA is a : Lakers & Dodgers city...always has been always will be!!! Ask anyone from LA and they will tell you this! As for the Sparks...you do realize this is the same organization who was on the verge of relocating not once but TWICE? Even at their peak, the Sparks were NEVER selling out games and they never will on a consistent basis despite being the 2nd largest market in the US...again, LA is a Lakers & Dodgers city... always has been always will be! In the end LA looks a lot better on paper numbers wise but Dallas without question is the better sports city between the two without question.
A lot of people, given that PB shoots at higher percentages (overall and from 3) than CC and has a more well-rounded game than CC does. PB can actually play D and has a 6'3" wingspan (53 blocks last year). The Fever, even with CC, probably can't win a W championship until they learn how not to give up so many points (pts against = 87.7 (11th in WNBA); points for = 85.0). The Fever were bad against the five seeds ahead of them in the 2024 tournament with points against ranging from 87.25 against Connecticut to 93.75 against New York. The Fever scored 100 or more in four games; they gave up at least 100 in six. There's more to basketball success than hitting 30-foot jumpers at 35% efficiency.
