Love mat, the bloke is an absolute legend as a footballer and now is a hero politically. Theres undoubtedly a cultural civil war going on and mats story is a prime example of everything that is wrong with woke Britain. The fact mat has been black balled out of the media and has been replaced by the likes of Karen Carney.

Today, managers are more focused on having more players like Mgongo, Dongo, Congo, Bongo instead of players who can actually play great football.

I would love to bump into mat and speak about all the wrongs in the world. He comes into my wife's work for dinner sometimes but allways missed. I'm from Southampton and grew up looking up to Matt with my dad putting me in young saints in the school holidays and having the pleasure of getting my shirt signed by him. Because the state of football and the greed that's been put into it, the price and watching my home team do really well at the top of the premier and then sell half the team and the not do well I stopped following football. I feel with the greed being pumped into it, it's lost its sportsmanship. I feel that Southampton doesn't want to win and it's all about making money first. It's a shame.

Remember Matt was always featured on the Daily Echo front cover teaser when I worked there. ❤ when a rag was a rag. Football is an awful game now 😢 Just contacted HOPE Sussex - exactly what we've been waiting for !

Love Matt. Such a great bloke and massively down to earth. He should know there are a few fan owned clubs in the U.K already though. AFC Wimbledon, Hearts, Exeter etc, but ultimately the teams with money will always blow them out of the water under the current system

Yes, keep politics out of sport. i agree that football was more rooted with the ordinary fan before the Premier League. I remember Everton having a team which just clicked and was dominant for 3 seasons or so in the mid 80's. our present chairman Moshiri ruined our club. we may eventually get our club back albeit with another rich owner. I dislike all organisations which have become bloated and corrupt, such as Olympics/EUFA?FIFA/Large charities. Champions League just money making.

terrific interview, what a fine chap matt is, i used to be mad on football back in the 70s as a lad but i utterly hate what the game has become, it is so politicised and 'woke' now and i cannot bear it, i haven't watched any of the euros as i'm just not interested and the TV coverage is sickening, part of me wants england to lose on sunday as i know that the 'woke' opportunists who've seized football(as mentioned by matt) will be disappointed, you can be 'patriotic' entirely on woke terms regarding england football side, idiots like diane abbott who probably has no interest in the game stick their noses in trying to stir up racialism when there is none, i loathe gareth southgate who could easily be a labour front bencher and as for some of the coward ex pros who take the woke sky/BBC shilling like alan shearer (ex southampton although he doesn't seem to have any affection for them constantly reminding us that he's a geordie) i have utter and complete contempt, the less said about the super hypocrite and actually nasty piece of work gary lineker, the better, i'm sure the majority of pros both old lads and many of the chaps playing today probably agree with matt(certainly most of the fans will) and it is vitally important that they speak up and take our game back from the vermin that have stolen it

I stopped watching football 10 years ago. I do dip in now and again to see what's happening and suffice to say "progress" or Woke, has made a mockery of the sport. I knew Lineker and Shearer went Woke years ago, but it's shocking to see Roy Keane sitting comfortably alongside a girl pundit. How long before we get gay or trans quotas slotted in to commentary?
