Probably the only footballer I can think of who’s won no trophies who’ll go down as one of the all time greats of world football. One of the most gifted players I’ve seen in my 41 years of life. Rarely scored a tap in and made the game look effortless. Out of football he’s also absolutely spot on about his world views. 👊🏻
Totally agree. I wish he had come to Liverpool in the 90s. I am 67, when I was a season ticket holder on the Kop I looked for three opponents and when we played them Everton, Manchester United and Southampton. I was not going to miss the chance to see him play. @@HikeWizard
same here mate, back in the 90s the amount of goals you see on match of the day or highlights or cup matches in the week where le tissier would score a belter and everyone couldnt explain why not many england caps then against us in dublin he gets a cap and there was crowd trouble, game got called off, it was just not meant to be for him. scored over 100 goals too
A man of principle would not have made some of the statements he did. No one challenges him on them . For example he posited Christen Eriksen collapsed on the pitch because he had the vaccine. Eriksen was unvaccinated. Just lies. He tries to come across as reasonable but denies people the treatment he wants them to give him .
I think the fans who paid his wages would have expected that he’d be trying to win games. SJ only tried to sign him to make Palace win more games, why didn’t he say that?
He wasn't an incredible player. He could produce moments of excellence but was inconsistent, didn't do enough on the pitch & never challenged himself. He stayed in a comfort zone all his career.
same here even though i think some of le tissiers opinions are slightly paranoid, what a player, yes players weren't as fit in those days but they were footballers, now most are just athletes who can run, play simple passes and fall when touched!!
Absolutely love him. He’s just class on and off the pitch. Simon Jordan is becoming the best and most entertaining football pundit/presenter/radio person. You can tell these 2 really respect each other and I’ve never seen someone so relaxed around Simon and actually not get interrupted by him lol
I was goi g to write a reply but after reading ur reply all I can say is I completely agree with what u said haha Even as a West Ham fan Matt le tiss was 1of my favourite players to watch , and the West Ham crowd loved him !! When he would take a corner we would all sing he’s got a fucking big nose !! And he would look at the crowd and say who me and laugh !!!!!! We would all clap him and he would clap us back . Also he’s scored goals against us that we all actually got up and clapped . Amazing player and an amazing man
Not many ex footballers that I’d sit through an hour long interview for but Le Tissier is different gravy. He is intelligent and articulate and has the experience to know his subject matter.
I don't regard myself as a massive footballing fan....But I agree with you: That was an hour well spent...... I clapped my hands when he said he went on the pitch to entertain the fans: Football is in the entertainment industry....so many players forget that, and also that it should be Pure Sport. Dishonest sportsmen have no place on the field.
Estoy de acuerdo contigo señor nabillarif👍🏻 .... "Matt" is a man with principles, which I indeed salute alongside you 🫡 👏 🙏🏻 .. ...Shame about the crackerjacks who come on here with 'claims' that, "Matt should keep politics out of football"..... 😲 they make me laugh anyway 😆 such hypocrisy and double standards 🤣 Radical ⬅️ hypocrisy 😒 🙄 = 'knows no bounds'
One of the high-lights of the past year for me was meeting Matt, at a Christmas Bash in London 2022 ,where he was a guest speaker at a prominent internet personality's function. I told him that he had 'balls of steel." and thanked him for standing up for all of us that do not have a platform and who are ignored by the establishment, once again, "you are a legend Matt." As an Evertonian it was great to hear your stories about speaking to the referee at Goodison Park and your relationship with Alan Ball. Great night and thank you again Sir.
@@harrys1505rightly or wrongly, millions of men and husbands have neglegted their wife and children at some point. Its not as if he caused domestic violence or let his children go homeless. Get over it ffs!
A individual of integrity who refuses to be bullied by those attempting to normalise insanity..And one of the most talented footballers I have ever had the pleasure of watching..what a player with skills that others can only dream about.
@@western-oud1898 You can only laugh at what calls itself the left these days. Indeed the same people call you a Nazi and a racist are cheering on the proxy war in the Ukraine as if their life's depended on it
Simon many thanks for having the insight and balls to have Matt on your pod cast. This is a real man with integrity on and off the pitch. We the people are awakened and fighting for our very freedoms that are being eroded week by week. Kudos.
As a footy fan, we honour his footballing legend, but his behaviour, off the pitch, makes that legendary mantel even more, no doubt. Matt's perspective is reassuring, just like another bona fida Great, ol' Big 'Ead. Those two knew it was only a game. Absolute champion. That is a winner. Aye, huge respect and thanks to Matt.
I'm ashamed to admit I've been one of those who had previously put Matt Le Tissier in the "delusional" category, purely for having different views to the main stream around high-profile and sensitive topics. A brilliant talk, in which as per Simon's intro, I've learned something from. If you had told me a year ago, watching a 58 minute video of Simon Jordan and Matt Le Tissier would change my thinking on certain things in life, i'd have laughed myself in to afit. More than happy now to admit where i'm wrong. Brilliant show.
@@sambaprince what, so if someone thinks/says something, and another person just happens to agree with the sentiment, then that makes them a sheep? Sheep, to me, are the people who stood outside banging their pots and pans, or bending the knee or blindly accepting to be jabbed with shit bc they were told to do it. I'd bet money on the fact that Chris PT has done neither. What about you?
Matt has been shown to be a very brave guy who was right to stand up for what he believes. Everyday now new research is being released that backs up what his beliefs were/are, and that the media who call him a conspiracy theorist were/are the ones spreading the misinformation not him.
How about the everywhere research where people are suddenly dropping like flies with strokes heart attacks and blood clots etc.... only happened on such a scale since the jibby jabbs.
@@euanparker2534watch Russel Brand or Richard Vobes. You may find out, you won't find it on the MSM. Even under the title of this video there is an advert for the latest news on ovid. Nothing about all the harm and deaths from the medical intervention.
Le God was my football hero. Standing on the terraces at the dell witnessing his incredible goals , and not to mention his loyalty to our club. Off the pitch, he talks alot of sense on all things in general. Us saints fans will always laud matt.❤
This is probably the best sports interview show ever. I don't always agree with Simon Jordan, I'm a Newcastle fan after all but he's very forthright, intelligent man who asks the questions we all want answered. Matt is the embodiment of all that's good in football. He played for the enjoyment of the game. No amount of trophies can replace the joy he gave and the worship he received. To be honest, I would take take that everytime too.
I'm definitely one of those people mentioned who are full of admiration for Matt and how he speaks up for what he believes is real, regardless of potential consequences in the cancel culture. Well done Matt Le Tissier
Appreciated Matt as footballer, appreciate him even more as a human being. A man after my own heart. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Once again, enjoyed this interview. Many thanks Simon.
One of the most underrated players ever. Some of his goals were simply insane. Remember playing football as a kid and we would mention his name in the same breath as Maradona and Van Basten. He scored some absolute screamers. Shame England managers didn't really use him.
@@andythoms8130what? He was happy playing at Southampton, with ups & downs managerial wise, good for him & certainly not motivated by the filthy lucre.
@@seltaeb3302 being ambitious doesn't mean your desperate to be rich cupcake, he wasted his own talent which is 100% his choice, I still think he's a legend.
He has to be one of the greatest footballers ever, because he played professionally for a number of years, most never make it. The fact that his name is in this kind of debate proves that he is. Having said that, ranking him is an entirety different matter and subject to ones' own opinion.
Love these chats,,, but if u stop playing Golf, that's all u had in common with your so called pal, and he's not your mate anymore,, very shallow and sad 😢
One of the few brave enough to voice an honest opinion and is a voice of common sense. The slander against him is sickening for asking questions which not many others are asking, and he's been proven correct on many things.
Common sense is not an adequate faculty for determining truth. Common semse has allowed prople to make all sorts of stupid decisions. Eg a woman is weak and deserves to be in the kitchen. Exercise is a prevention against Covid. Etc etc.
Matt Le Tissier = Legend, I'm from Southampton and have always been a Saints fan, Micky Channon was the man when I went to the Dell , that'll tell you how old I am -ish. Other than his football which was outstanding, having listened to this interview I have the utmost respect for the guy, he stood his ground and didn't cave into the lefty twats, very very glad that he is still himself. excellent interview Simon.
@@robertstraw9881 so Messi not winning anything at inter maimi makes him "not world class " anymore haha . Ability wise Le tisser was outstanding, wouldn't say world class but how he didn't get loads of caps crazy. ..wish he had a Scottish grandad lol
He was a very good player....but never world class, and he was afraid to better himself by joining a bigger club. Big fish in a very small pond, far safer than being a small fish in a big pond.
Absolutely spot on, but its also a damning indictment on society that all you really mean is this is a podcast grounded in reality - an honest conversation with fascinating people. If only that was the norm
@@Alex-lc7v is that you Francis? Haha 🤣 Agreed mate. It is shame that standards have dipped and what was once common in journalism/interviewing is seen as revolutionary but that is the world we live at the moment. Thankfully content such as this, does exist and is not sanitized drivel that is pushed on people ad nauseum.
Le Tissier will be remembered as one of the most talented players England has ever produced. His opinions are his own and will die with him. His goals, loyalty and finesse will never be forgotten. From a neutral.
He was okay. He could produce fantastic moments on the pitch but was inconsistent & never challenged himself & that was reflected in his England appearances.
Matt and Simon you are both legends . So relatable to the obvious points here Matt so thank you for being that guy who speaks for many of us when we all felt like we were the mad ones
Arsenal fan born and bread, I will admit that Matt was one of the most gifted and talented players I ever saw live in the good old days at highbury. Great chat Simon
Great interview, Simon is much better in the one on one interview than anyone around. He's also not afraid of the kickback from the scumbags in mainstream media about talking to anyone who doesn't follow the "mainstream narrative." ❤
Could listen to him all day. Plus, what a player. Growing up in the 90s, loved watching him. He’s a PL legend. Should be in the PL Hall of Fame, but sadly given the world we live in, can’t see it happening soon. His record speaks for itself.
One of the greatest player's in the premier league.. I'm a man utd fan, living in Australia. Not afraid to say, this guy was as good as Cantona.. I hate saying this , massively underrated. No player in the league comes close to him today.. loyal one club champion. U will never see player's create and score there own goals like Matt.
The reason MLT is not in the PL HOF is nothing to do with being "woke "or " the world we live in " it's because he simply as not as good as what some people make him out to be . He was at times capable of scoring some fantastic goals but they were few & far between , put them on a RU-vid show reel they look fantastic , put them over his whole career & it looks very different . Decent player with a few great goals is his career in a nutshell
Le Tissier was ahead of his time. He was an AMC in an era that was quite rigid to 4-4-2. Imagine him at say Man City now!! Great player and a real moral principled gentleman.
I thought Matt was a footballing legend… never did I think what he stands for post football would increase my admiration for him 10 fold! Keep speaking for us Le Tissier!
I remember his performance in that England B game before the World Cup and thinking 'he's definitely in the squad now'. More fool me. One of the most gifted and entertaining players ever.
'98. That was another mad pre World Cup for England. The press at their usual fever pitch, with Hoddle and his staff really adding to the madness. I remember, more, the way Gazza was handled. Hoddle had already thrown Matt under the bus after the Italy qualifier at Wembley and further isolated himself from the average England fan when he gave Gazza enough rope, in the May warm ups Chris Evans and C4 were complicit in the downfall of Gazza, by engineering and encouraging that fateful appearance on Friday night T.V. Yeh, fans never forget. It's enough to make............🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵
Very enjoyable interview. Thank you Simon for having Matt on your show, someone who was an unbelievably talented footballer and a truly decent human being who is a critical thinker and stands up for his beliefs which many people agree with. Being called a conspiracy theorist is a complement nowadays, its simply someone who uses their own brain to question the narrative. Matts a true winner
No it isn't. Watching RU-vid videos and listening to people who hold views you already agree with, then spouting off the same nonsense, is the opposite of critical thinking
Love Matt and all he stands for. I got to meet him once in Manchester. I wondered what I could say to him. I just said "Thank you Matt, thank you for being YOU." 😊
I've never really been interested in football per say, yet I watched this interview because it was about Matt and I wanted to get to know him as a person a little more than I do. I have the utmost respect for Matt as I can relate to him and his views on the subjects that are not about football which I think most people will know exactly what I'm talking about. To me, he comes across as a sensible, warm, kind and caring soul and it's nice to know he's on the side of TRUTH and right and wrong. God bless you Matt. You will always be remembered for being on the right side of history. Wishing you and your family all the very best in the future. I salute you Sir ❤
His lack of England appearances will not diminish his status. For me, arguably within the top 10 of all time English players. Great football brain, timing and ability to score. He also has the ability to make rings around Simon Jordan, on or off the pitch!
I'd put all these before him Alan Shearer Wayne Rooney Bobby Charlton Jimmy Greaves Paul Scholes Steven Gerrard Tony Adams Bobby Moore Ashley Cole Paul Gascoigne Michael Owen John Barnes David Beckham Gordon Banks
And what a pleasure to watch. I remember getting cable in my family home in south London and watching MNF back in the early 90s. Matt was someone you really looked forward to watching. Which for me is what the games all about
Great interview, Simon has really gone up in my estimation. Matt will always be a legend of football, and for having the balls to stand up for what he believed in, and to call out the bullshit of the last few years....
A wonderfully graceful, clunky looking footballer who always made the game look easy. A beautiful attitude to life too. As a Leeds fan, thank you for the memories Matt. Best of luck to you sir.
@@harrys1505 I see you have posted this already below. Its clear and obvious that what he meant was that during lockdown he got into a spiral with the politics and cultural issues and probably should have focused more on everyday life? Many of us had a similar experience, lockdown was a weird time for everyone. Its also clear that the word ' neglect ' can be twisted by people like yourself? I dont share all of his views but agree with many of them and his general, grown up attitude to how humans should interact and behave with each other is admirable and all too rare. People who are prepared to sacrifice something for their principles should always be respected
@@neilanderson6280 Lockdown was a weird time for everyone? Not for me it wasn't - maybe I am made of more stern stuff? He didn't sacrifice something....HE WAS SACKED!
@Breath of Fresh Air Well he was unorthadox and 'clunky' wasn't he? Much to his opponents regret. Are you really going to pick me up on a word when I'm merely complimenting a man who I thought was a beautiful footballer when I was younger? Really mate?
One of the best premier league players ever and very very talented, great interview and i love Matts honesty to life in general and his principles 👍👏👏👏🤗
I like how he keeps trying to push back on the negative impacts of speaking out for his beliefs. Most people support and respect him for taking a stand against the madness.
We are in a witch hunt society, courtesy of social media. The Spanish official who gave a kiss, hounded out. If that had been a lady official giving same kiss to a Spanish male footballer, there would have been zero fuss.
Le Tiss is a legend, for so many reasons. More than that he’s a great human being with principles he’s prepared to stand up and fight for. Unfortunately, rare qualities these days.
Well, that was bloody brilliant. Two men who stand by their views and speak with total integrity. A hugely enjoyable watch. However....is there going to be a Part II ?
I'm a saints fan and the same age, I was lucky enough to se some of Matt's iconic goals in person at the Dell back in the 90s and met him a couple of times
Brillant interview, and Matt comes across as a nice relaxed guy who stands by his views that is obvious. Great footballer and his skill set was outstanding and dazzling, some of his goals truly sublime, all in all a really likeable man.
brilliant interview. was fortunate to meet matt briefly at cheltenham a few years ago. top bloke! A man of morals, principles and integrity. when these thing’s that are being imposed upon us become so obvious that no one can deny there is something sinister behind them. we will need someone we respect. please please do the retrospective review. it will be very interesting
there's definitely mutual respect there. Both of them are "say it as you see it" guys. Also adult enough to LISTEN to each others point of view and come back with equally honest and forthright opinions. They're also adult enough to be able to agree to disagree, even after heated debate, and still treat each other with respect at the end of the sparring match. I'd probably say Matt won that particular match, and he didn't even need to throw any tantrums...the "yeah,I got cancelled.....meh" is a way better approach than throwing your toys out of the pram.
Matt was the ultimate entertainer and provided some of the most astonishing moments I've ever seen in football. Remember the home game against Newcastle in '93, when he scored 'those two goals' ! just as great was the time where he immaculately controlled a long high punt that went sailing over his head near the corner flag - everyone on that side of the ground just gasped in stunned awe. Matt also calls it how it is, and talks a lot of sense - he'd be a perfect fit on the excellent White and Jordan show on Talksport!
I lived in Holland back then, and Dutch people used to ask me all the time if Le Tissier was English. When I confirmed it, they were always amazed that he wasn’t the first player on the National team sheet.
One of the Greatest English players of all time. Even tho I was a City fan I loved watching Cantona play, and of course Gazza, but my favourite player to watch, and my favourite non-City player, was Le Tissier. He was playing a different sport, a better sport in my eyes back then. The only other time I felt like that was watching Romario and Bebeto during the 94 World Cup and later Ronaldinho
