Red wine gives people migraines easily, on top of that people feel sluggish even after one glass of red(in small amounts) the next day, just look at this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qXywStESdi8.html The heart benefits of red wine for young people(20s-30s) are marginal, Not big. Some people think alcohol is a sleep aid, it helps you to sleep(temporarily) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PNq-JcVlYD4.html but then when the effect wears off, you become restless. It affects your body's natural sleeping pattern,.it steals a precious chemical in your body called 'the human growth hormone'.
So in short, THE MAXIMUM a person can have of alcohol is either, 1/2 serving every OTHER day, or 1/4 serving every day. I believe this IS the best health advice re alcohol I've ever heard of! THANK YOU DR. AXE.
This is sooo helpful!!! I will sip on a little red wine like two nights a week, and intuitively I was feeling it really helped me relax. I actually have an auto-immune disorder and I know the sugar is not good, but overall the therapeutic relaxation is soooo nice...so I'm glad to know just half a glass once in a while actually helps detox. wow!
We make what they call grape shrubs. By taking grape skin and seeds adding vinegar and bring to boil. Storing it in the fridge, it keeps a long time. We do the non-alcoholic kind. You can use it to build your immune system when you are sick, or a tbl spoon to a glass of water for refreshing drink.
@@eireannsg literally how would you know that? there our no recommend dosage for resvertrol for the human body. if there our studies on humans and not rats please let me know
Some good info on resveratrol. And the little bit of research I've done on alcohol does indicate some health benefits when consumed a) in moderation and b) by someone not experiencing severe liver distress. However, I think Dr. A missed some important points, such as... 1. Conventional vs Organic vs Biodynamic (I recommend the latter, for the fact that they're the only ones who use native yeasts, which were the only yeast strains used in wine making until the industrial revolution). 2. Sulfites (Could have talked about natural sulfites in many red wines vs added sulfites, and the implications on health). 3. General recommendations on consumption (I'm 210 lbs. The amount of red wine I can safely drink is different than that of my 100 lbs friends. And then there's the issue of the condition of an individual's digestive system and liver.) ...And as an option, you could thrown in some bible passages on the topic of alcohol & wine, such as wine being a gift from God (Psalm 104), warnings against over consumption & drunkenness (ex. Eph. 5:18, Gal. 5:21), and the apparent gastrointestinal benefits of drinking wine (Paul's advice to Timothy in 1 Tim. 5). bestnaturalfoods.com/newsletter/organic_wine.html And check out Frey's line of Biodynamic red wines. They're the most affordable I've come across.
Strange thing is, many people are aware of the "dirty dozen" which is the top fruits and vegetables that are sprayed the most with pesticides and which preferably should be bought organic. Grapes are one of those that are heavily sprayed with pesticides so I wonder just how concentrated those pesticides are in red (I prefer red) wine? I remember as a naive teenager sitting in front of the tv with a bag of red grapes and thinking that those grapes smelled like roach spray. Years later I realized since I didn't wash them first they probably were so full of pesticides that I really could smell it. The smell was so strong I never forgot it.
I am type 2 diabetic, I just take red wine low sugar. I drank small amount of glass whenever I have bloating stomach. Although I don’t take it often because, I don’t want to damaged my liver. Only once or twice in a week only !
Good points, I drink only red wine but at 1/2 to a whole bottle per day I think I better stop. That must be why my cholesterol is high and blood pressure up. Wow, never even thought about that. Thank you, now motivated to just stop as I generally don't stop at 1/2 or less and 2 times a day would not work. May be an alcoholic.
a Glass a day of red wine is VERY GOOD. He seems to be talking about what happends to the liver while totally drunk!!! more then one glass a day wont harm anyone!!! FACTS!!!
is it true that cheap wine is bad for your health ? and the more expensive ones are better for your health ? does the price has an effect on health benetifs of the wine ? is the organic wine a better choose ?
Yay! Great videos! Interestingly when I had my daughter I was a little anemic. My doctor told me to have a small glass of wine to build up my blood. This was a while back, my daughter is 48 years old. I used a brand of red wine called Manichevitz. He was an old school doctor. He's long gone now. Never has as any doctor since said this. I think he was Italian, Lol!
Thank you for sharing. I am here because I discovered that when I take ~2oz (4oz max) of red wine before bed, sometimes mixed with a tablespoon or less of honey (its feels instinctually right and also taste more palatable for me)- I wake up with less inflammation/swelling in my legs and less prominent spider veins. I was originally taking resveratrol supplements and turned to redwine, the original source, because of my budget. Taking the two together also works very well. The redwine seems to also enhance the effect of the butcher's broom supplement I take for spider veins as well. Inflammation and vein prominence decrease. The only caveat is the benefit is short lived once supplementation stops. So it seems I need to be consistent with taking it.
In a Samual Adams Desk callender there was a Quote written that went like this ; " He that drinketh well, sleepeth well . He that sleepeth commiteth no sin ! He that Committeth no sin, goes to heaven " !! Written by an unknown person in a New England pub in the Late 1700 's !! ( What Marvelose Lodgic ) !
Thank you very much Dr. Josh Axe for your neutral and unbiased professional advise/comments on Red Wine. In facet, people like you are helpful for the humanity...showing both sides of the picture.
Yes cyanide is good for you in small amounts.... but I'm still drinking 2-4 glasses of wine in one sitting or not drinking at all. Half a glass? Ridiculous.
I have high blood pressure. One time i ran out of BP PILLS and i could not renew my prescription in time. I bought organic red wine and it lowered my BP 20 Pts within and hour. I had two 10 oz. Glassed Warning, do not drink more than 2 glasses. I made that mistake and it lowered it too much. I had to drink coca cola to raise my BP
I have noticed that Red wine helps my breathing issues. You have not touched on the chemical side of this which many of those toxins are in wine, due to spraying the grapes. Do you know which places or wines that are organic?
Practical advice. But also impractical. Once you open a bottle of wine, it doesn’t keep very long. Some experts say only 3 days. Even cold, at the most, 5-6 days. But by that time, it doesn’t taste the same. So if you only take a small glass every few days, it becomes impossible to store the rest.
Yea -red wine will def load on the pounds - I put 30iibs on from 2-3 glasses most days ! I’ve cut way BACK , and now it’s coming off ! So the “ 2 glasses a day “ is not a great idea for weight nor health , I’m sure !
That is about half a cup or am I wrong? Isn’t 4 ounces half a cup. See what Dr. Berg says about it. He is nice and just trying to help those so don’t shoot the messenger. Well about half a cup.
My age is 22? Is there any problem If I Consume Red Wine below moderate level , may be a half a glass or less. And If I should buy a Red wine what info should I look for in the bottle? My main concern Is Red Wine good for ADULTS aging 20 and more?
Jeff Mcilroy It's not the wine that's putting the extra weight on, it's lack of exercise. Half a bottle of wine every day is a bit excessive, but it's not as much of a health risk as lack of exercise. If you can make a bottle last 4 -5 days you'll be doing okay.
Lol great question. Tap water is extremely toxic with all the chemicals and crap that is in it. As for wine, more than the alcohol it's the chemical sprays and added sulfites I'd be wary of ... Choose organic wines...
Best to just avoid it in general then. You can get resveratrol in many other things. A bottle of wine actually contains a very small amount of it.... you have to drink copious amounts to get the health benefits... Ppl use resveratrol as an excuse to get sloshed.
Cabernet Sauvignon is the best bang for your buck in terms of highest resveratrol content and lowest sugar content. If you're drinking it for health this is the only wine you should be drinking
I am late here, but I hope answer doctor, I drink one bottle every Saturday, only that in a week. Is that danger??? If that is danger, what about them who drink bottle spirit??
We have very large wine glasses in our house. They're really kind of a novelty, but we do use them. So, I figure that one half a glass is about 375ml and taken every couple of two days is about 3+ bottles per week. Not bad if that's okay.
