I agree with a lot of your commenters - they shouldn't ban retinol. We're grown ups and can decide whether it works well for us or not (w/o OD'ing on it). My skin rebels against retinol, unfortunately, but I still have great skin at the age of 64. I just posted about how I do it. Meanwhile, I have yet to give retinal a try for several weeks to see if my skin reacts. 🙂

The Ordinary 0.2% retinal for me. Took a couple of weeks for my skin to get used to it and now I use it 6 nights a week. I could never tolerate tretinoin. My face was so red even after eight months of use at 0.025%. I moved to Geek and Gorgeous retinal on the recommendation of The Honest Channel, first the 5, then the 10 and now The Ordinary which I am going to stick with for now.

Been using Paula's choice retinol 1% for 3 years now ! So I'm looking for alternatives, I thought retinal was less efficient but I'm learning it's not the case :) So I'm going two routes : trying some retinal ( I bought the G&G A-game 10 ) and waiting for my tretinoin prescription ! I'll see what works best for me ( retinoids are like moisturizer on me I never had any redness or issues )

I’ve been using revive tretinoin for several years after starting with L’Oréal’s serum and then Neutrogena’s slightly stronger version, then up to prescription strength. In the winter I like A 313 and I can buy it without script online from an Australian based website. I discovered A313 when I was in France last year and LOVED it. The base is so emollient and prevents flaking and irritation for me. I’m almost through my 2nd tube. Does this mean you can’t get A313 OTC anymore? I was chuffed when I could buy it at the pharmacy counter without a script! The pharmacist asked me if I had previously used any retinoids before to which I said oui’ lol. I cannot speak highly enough of how much my skin has benefited from topical Vit A. I am 51 for reference. The core of my regime is double cleanse, retinoids, LED mask and K beauty sunscreens everyday. My skin has never looked better.

Retinal. I want to say that not everyone should transition to The Ordinary’s new 0.2% retinal. From what I have read 0.2% retinal is meant for very experienced users of high strengths of retinol or retinal. It is twice as strong as the Geek & Gorgeous A-Game 10. If you haven’t tried retinal and aren’t using a high percentage of retinol or tretinoin, please start with a 0.05% strength which is available from a number of brands, including Geek & Gorgeous in the A-Game 5, but also Scinic and Naturium.

@@lukastemberger it's been there years since I started using 0.1 tretinoin. I still have occasional mild irritation and I peel every time.
