Big respect to the pod for the openness, sensitivity and all around sensibility with which this conversation was handled. Really appreciated Goodey mentioning whether the question over Sione is his pathway and background
With this game taking place outside the Int Window, Hastings/Rowe @10/15 respectively is as expected & good to see Graham start, was in great form @14 before his injuries. Fiji are also missing a whole bunch of their starters e.g. Waisale Nayacalevu (Sale), Eroni Mawi (Saracens), Josua Tuisova (Racing 92), Sam Matavesi, Semi Radradra (both Lyon) & Luke Tagi (Bayonne).
Love Jamie - off field, articulate and all you could want in a captain! On field he loses the ref and is too quick to dance around the handbag. (which I love but not sure that’s the example that should be set) His form has improved since not being captain! Love Finn, but he is already enough of a target? Darge young and undoubtedly will carry that weight on his shoulders again one day! Sione will be a great captain- Scottish Granny- guaranteed to be in the squad, passionate, talented, loved by players and fans! Great on and off the field! What more could we want! Captain, my captain 🏴🙌🏼
Sione is Scottish as fuck, his gran would not let him forget it!! Darge (great player!) is from North Berwick, which basically has an English accent now!!
Scotland's leadership has been a problem for a number of years now. Plenty of big personalities in the squad, but not enough guys that step up when their backs are against the wall
I agree with gilchrist as captain, Ritchie was overwhelmed by the job imo. which affected his form. u need leaders all over the pitch in the modern game
I love how much Scotland fans love to shit on Sexton and PoM even though those are the types of players that Scotland so desperately need to win tight test matches. The leadership issue is so stark. From minutes 50 onwards, Scotland concede penalty after penalty, lose territory, make so many unforced errors and completely lose tactical judgment. It's great to say that players like Russell, Ritchie, Darge, Gray, Duhan are so 'nice' and so 'flair' but at the end of the day, where are Scotland atm? 2 wins from 5 in a 6 nations, never winning the 6 nations title. They would bite their hand off for a leader like PoM or Sexton
I don’t think any of us shit on sexton and POM. I think that’s just a small minority of people on media that complain of other players when the majority of us respect these guy and what they’ve done to push the game forward.
If you ask me Townsend has done a fine job. Absolutely nothing coming through for Scotland, 70 per cent of the team is rejects from other countries? Do you seriously think you’re going to win a six nations when you can’t even produce your own players?
