England had their best chance in July, all blacks have improved since then. Can't wait, may the best team win. How underhill is out, and dombrandt is in, is beyond this kiwi
Joe Marler enjoys playing the clown but he’s a lot more media savvy than people give him credit for. In two sentences he has nearly doubled the amount of attention this fixture would have already had with a massive increase in video and written responses. Great media work by Joe
About the Marler discourse: he's a funny guy trying to wind people up and create some hype, theres absolutely no issue with it and people's responses have been ridiculous. All he actually meant is that teams should be allowed to respond to Haka, which is TRUE. 20m rule is a joke.
100% I don't want the haka to completely stop but I am of the opinion that you should be allowed to challenge or face off however the opponent feels is appropriate
George Ford on the bench makes no sense at all. The only injury permutation where England put Ford on the field with no real drop in quality is Smith getting injured. Any other back (9 excepted) gets injured and players have to move out of position to fit Ford on the pitch. Least disruptive being Furbank goes off, Ford on Smith to 15 (a position he doesn’t play for his club) most disruptive Lawrence off, Slade to 12 Freeman to 13 Furbank to wing and Smith to 15; ridiculous! Daly can play 11,12 (at a pinch tbh),13,14 and 15!!!!!
The fact that there is so much discussion as to how teams should react to the Haka shows how effective an intimidation weapon it is. It gives a big psychological advantage to New Zealand which is partially, at least, why they perform it.
All were ranked higher than England though. England performed to their ranking. You forgot to mention beating Ireland though, which was an excellent result. I don't think that results are essential, performances should be as important as England need to get back to being a top performing team. You'll hammer Australia and Japan, if you play really well and fall a point or two short against New Zealand and South Africa you can hardly call that unacceptable?
The Scotland game was poor, but the games against France and New Zealand were all away, and those teams were ranked higher than them, and not only that, England put in an incredible performance in all three games against France and all blacks.
@@jharwood9795 Where did I say that? Care to read again? I said they aren't essential in these friendly games, which they aren't. What is the consequence of not winning the games? Nothing.
@@AbeHopwoodwe are the richest union though with the second strongest domestic league. Why should we settle? Getting close to the all blacks is still not winning, anything less is still a failure imo.
I would have thought the best alternative to Slade would have been Loz at 12 with Lawrence 13? It's a big hit losing Farrell and Tuilagi as centre options. My preference though is Freeman 13 because it brings Sleightholme in to start. ABs will win with defensive coaching disruption same way Boks beat ABs with attacking coach disruption.
England need 4 wins, Argentina beat NZ, SA and Aus with a newer coach. Borthwick is already banging on about Fortress Twickenham, has to deliver full stop
Die hard Springbok supporter here! To be so bold as to say that the AB's are there for the taking is foolish. England will have to be 1000% focused if they want to beat the AB's. I am looking forward to watching this game. May the best team win.
Why did Joe Marler give the ABs a quote they're gonna pin on the dressing room wall for added motivation?! What an unforced error! Should be Freeman or Lozowski @13 over an under-cooked Slade; and on the bench, should be Hill & Willis over B Curry & Dombrandt and F Smith over Ford. ABs should've gone with Sititi @8, Finau @6 & Ardie @7.
Seriously ? Marlers comment is not going to change anything. Slade is in to coordinate the rush defence. Its still bedding in so they need his experience.
To keep himself relevant. He isn't part of the England set up for this game and you can see that he is lining up his pundit/podcast career post rugby where he will have wild takes to get rage bait engagement.
@@IverKnackerov Marlers shot his fat mouth off after getting well beaten down under this season .The All Blacks scrum beat them easily without any games together .Marler remembers that so he has tried something different .It wont work and it will be brought up in the All Blacks camp. It is significant .
@@jonathonmerson93 Yes, damn straight, the All Blacks were a pretty much resigned to losing this match until someone said that the shouty wavy hands prematch thing should not be performed. You should have seen them after that, they started doing training again smashing their chests into each other, punching walls, kicking goals from outside the county; imagine the most stirring sports montage from out of off of all the movies ever times by 1000 and you're still not even close!!!
All blacks should only do the HAka if the other team earned it. It should be a sign of respect. Then you will see how people cry if they don't do the HAka.
So according to this video, England's best chance to beat the all blacks is to be the best on both defence and attack.......thank you for that master class on how sport is played and won
If England is ahead after 55/60 minutes it is going to be fascinating how the ABs handle that. During the RC they didn't finish strongly throughout so they would've put an emphasis on that
I think we have a chance. We have very few world class players (perhaps 2 or 3), but we have even fewer weaknesses. I think we need a a proper, a centre and a 9, and then we’re there.
No guys! Don’t say it! 😅 No matter the perceived quality of any All Black team, I think they probably have a 100% win rate against opposition who wound them up in the buildup, or underestimated them.
I think it’s somewhat crazy to say the ABs aren’t as good as they were. I think they’re still a great team and just everyone else is getting better. The fact that ABs and SA are beatable makes all the games more exciting. In a world where every game can be a coin toss makes it exciting. Where as old ABs are great to watch but you know they’re going to win.
Been watching rugby for 4 decades. It's more exciting now than it's ever been. We've never seen a time where the top 5 or 6 sides are all at a similar level on any given day.
I like the Haka and I think it should stay, but opposition sides need to be free to respond however they want. Both sides should be allowed up to the half way line, but not a foot over. It would be great to see some of the staring matches we've seen in the past. This artificial separation of the teams neuters the spectacle.
ABs hadnt played for 9 months when we played England in July and we won,now England havent played for awhile this will be their demise, ABs will have the edge and win by 14
I'm an AB's fan and utterly sick and tired of the sanitization of the Haka, it's a bloody challenge that requires a response. Damn snowflake rugby administrators in charge, whats next for these woke cheerleaders, penalties for 'Unnecessary Roughness'. Pathetic!!!!
you poms are optimistic I will give you that .The All Blacks are a different beast from the start of the season and they are class which i might add is permanent .You lot will need to show excellent form to beat them .Class normally over rides average to good form .So the All Blacks should win
Well, the All in Blacks are definitely a brave, plucky second tier team full of spunk and who, on their day, can give anyone a run for their money. I hope they do themselves proud on saturday and can give 100% from start to finish, remember there's no shame in losing to a better team especially one from rugby's top table.
@@karlernstbuddenbrock371 Think he’s one of the kiwis who still believe the Class and Aura are permanent. Still believe England were slightly the better team in losing 2-0 down under. Not sure they have improved since .
NZ did well at the world cup, aside from the first pool game. They were average in the rugby championship and they beat Eng twice in NZ but didn't look that convincing. England should be slight favourites going into this one.
Huh?? 🤔🤔 Why people all ways say that about the ABs 😂 that’s what they said at the RWC and they made it to the finals just to get cheated out by the referees lol Plus with the food poisoning World Cup in 92” ABs would of had 5 RWC 🤔🤔🤌🤌 Y’all know who the REAL champions are ✊🤨
LOL the only slight bit of truth in that is the fact that you were the best team at the 1992 Rugby World Cup. In fact, seems you were the only team at the 1992 Rugby World Cup. Learn the laws, stop listening to 30 year old unproven rumours and buy a calendar. Good luck little buddy.
English and Irish despise us Kiwi mate. They always have. Ignore the English and Irish, they have an attitude problem with the ABs. I hope NZ beat them both, but the English and Irish will still be mouthy.
@@KiwiGragglethe Irish definitely don’t hate the ABs. Quite the opposite actually, we admire them. As for the ABs pundits and die hards now lol they are a different bag of cats all together
Not to be funny Jim I understand you and goods are for England but as a South Africa those two games we played against them at home where both close if they play anything like that you have no chance
Hey England is going to get beaten - that is it.. you underestimate the Kiwi's. Mawler has given the reason .. he he ..Ya need Clive to set ya straight ..
I think whats going to be interesting is how England handle the AB scrum this time round. Because in 2 weeks time they play the Boks, and their scrum is a level up from the ABs scrum, so England will need to be careful!🙂 Plus I think we all know Marler is stirring the pot!
IS SA scrum a step above NZ?. Where do you get your information from, astonishing ignorance. NZ should also have won at least 1 of those matches against SA. Astonishing comment from you. You do not know much, if I am totally honest.
@KiwiGraggle yes it is, very much so🙂. Maybe try watch a game next time, rather than guessing, you are embarrassing yourself mate🙂. Boks won 3-4 scrum penalties against the ABs in their last 2 games, mostly because they pushed the ABs scrum back at a rate of knots👌🏻🙂 AB's didnt even win a single scrum against the Boks🙂 You need to wake up son, Boks scrum is clearly a level up from the ABs, as are the Boks in general too👌🏻🙂
That whiny English FB, Freeman is it?, whining about Reece, when Reece is not even playing, lol. English, getting ahead of themselves again, not as bad as the Irish though.
As an Englishman i LOVE the Kaka…but what annoys me is when home fans sing over or boo it when its performed. Id argue the Haka can inspire the opposition just as much as the Kiwi’s & it’s one of the many few things that gets me rilled up & gives me goosebumps as a fan even on my sofa! It’s also a respect thing..lets not turn into football & boo/disrespect nations anthems. Rory
Fans singing over is completely fine. My only problem is when the stadium keeps playing terrible music really loud while it's being performed (looking at you south africa)
PS, this is not the side that England faced in July. Do not underestimate us, in fact, stop underestimating us, its just sheer arrogance. Ireland are worse though.
They couldn't even do that at home against Australia. And only managed 8 points over 2 games more than England. At home. This is not the All Blacks from the McCaw era, this is a team who clearly has a few problems. Very dangerous still but not the same force they used to be. If England have any chance of beating them, now is the time.
The only way to “accept” the challenge, is to turn away. That is advantage NZ before the first whistle. Marlers right to a point. But lets use it as motivation to give them a good shoeing….and then highlight it. Not off the back of four (very close) losses. Bad look.
