Exact situation with Yelan. People hyped her so much and say she's a must pull. She's not. She'll be a great addition sure but you don't need to have her. I don't have her and I'm still doing fine. You can always work ard the teams as long as you invest in the teams that you have. Like Zajef said, you can always use an inferior teams. Genshin is not a game where you're locked behind paywall etc. And genshin players have this weird mindset of a strong character means the other character are trash which is far from the truth.
Yelan is a must pull. If you don't have her, you're shooting yourself in the foot in every regard. Playing with or without Yelan is a complete night and day. She's almost as versatile as Xingqiu (and every single player bloody needs at least two Xingqius, preferably three). She runs by far the fastest of any character in the game and if you grab her c1, she has effectively infinite sprint because she regens stamina during her Es. If she's c0, you can cycle her with Sayu or Kirara E hold (or Scara air dash). She's a tall female, so she runs, climbs and swims fast eve noutside of her E, unlike Sayu/Mona/Ayaka/Kirara. She has strong charged shot in gigantic aoe making her far superior to even Ganyu for overworld hunting. She has strong E which can raw oneshot small mobs, vape oneshot medium mobs, her burst is quite spammable and strong enough to clear any wave of enemies in one dps window. She's the ultimate carry of friendship teams, being able to solo most world bosses or domains in 20-40 seconds. You don't have her. You claim you're doing fine. It's possible. However it's also possible that you're not. It's quite likely you're just coping because you don't want to admit you made bad decisions after listening to manipulative people who told you that you don't need her. Genshin is a game. Games are supposed to be fun. Taking extra time and struggling to clear any content in satisfactory manner because your teams are full of inferior options isn't fun for majority of people.

I think her c2 only gets better as more dendro/electro characters get released. (Maybe even hydro characters.) The defense shred on quicken is insane and the ocasional crits on bloom reactions is something that's unique to her c2. It's like having a global constellation on any of dendro related reaction teams. Quite worth it if you are a light spender like myself. (But please don't feel forced to spend money for a free game)
I run prototype ember on Nahida when I'm on EM raiden + Xing Qiu and Yelan because I have boomer reactions and can't rely solely on Xing Qiu to sustain me.

Disclaimer : Everything below is related to meta and improving your account, not "being functional" with my own experience and knowledge. I personally don't like hearing words during comparison between dmc and nahida "in context of" to functions "really well" or "perfectly fine". Yes dmc good if you want to play dendro teams but your dendro teams are not gonna stronger than other archetypes.. Its nahida that really raises the floor and allow you too make soo many archetypes works in soo many contents. Abyss is getting slightly harder and I know most player wont gonna clear wenut or serpent with dendro teams without nahida. Point is nahida is really flexible and adaptable to situations and very synergistic to new units and also allows your dendro teams to scale really well later on as you progress in game or decides to vertically invest (crowning , great artifacts, cons, 5 star weapons/characters etc). So if you want to play dendro teams at there highest level.. imo nahida is really great unit to pull. And yeah I see people arguing oh but kazuha (And I am not comparing those 2 just ex coz I see his mention most) 100 times flexible , nahida works only in dendro teams etc etc bullshit .. Keep in mind dendro teams are very flexible and can deal with any type of content and competitive to best non dendro options in any type of content and in any level of investment... Its not a bad idea to vertically invest in dendro teams for 1 side .. just like how investing in international is good idea coz how flexible it is with different type of content.
Excellent analysis. I also don't like when people overhype a unit but under hyping unit too much also very misleading and unfair. Zajeff was mostly on point imo but I also don't agree that - if you want to play dendro teams, dmc is COMPLETELY fine because he is not. Dendro teams can still work but it will not scale that well as you said. Also wenut or any boss or units that move too much is really cringe and torture without nahida in dendro teams.

Two, resistance shred isn't negligible considering that he doubles your damage. hyperbloom (and other transformative reactions) already ignore defense, and other damage reduction effects like Lawachurl Shield. only enemy's resistance reduced its damage

People love to come up with excuses to why she isnt a must pull, but honestly the only one that matters is "i dont like her" which is completely valid, but besides that one there's no reason not to get her, she's strong, fun to play, and opens the door to many, many fun teams.

There's really only one case which is speedrunning which is very niche category to go for but it does exist and whale speedruns doesn't use dendro at all other than that completely agree
Yup, of course Nahida is a must have, if there is any such unit, it's her. She is irreplaceable with her unique dendro application - both in methods and in amount. For various teams and scenarios she is necessary just like fast hydro Xingqiu/c2 Yelan is for others. Then, buffs, energy generation and tons of DPS - too much value in everything. Finally don't forget about Prototype Amber. Often she will be much better than Yaoyao. Ok, now time to watch the video :)

everyone talking about how abyss is not so hard meanwhile me still not able to reliably 36 star it. 1.2 player here with like 15+ characters or something. i dont farm artifact that if a different matter
Good artifacts make up a big part of a character's damage and good team synergy matters a lot too. The reason why people say abyss is not very hard is because their characters deal sufficient damage + their teams synergise well
If you're not sure whether you should pull for her; do a coin toss. If you hate the result, then you just found your answer. Edit: I don't take credit for the advice. I don't remember where, but I also learned it somewhere on the internet.
highkey good advice for many people who don't listen to their gut about pulling for a character. and even if you don't want them now, there's always chances to get them in the future so you're never really missing out anyways.
I mean, if you want to play dendro teams it's night and day with and without Nahida. Honestly it's hard not to praise her with how much she brings to those teams.
@@mangshu21 i mean, if your dendro mc is running 130-150% ER, or the seed gets burned it will suck. But you can run them at 230% as solo dendro, don't bother on good artifacts, and as long as the enemies are inside your Q you are fine. Unless your account and characters aren't well optimized for dendro team or you don't know what you are doing; that's the only way to think dendro MC are bad as character. Their caveats are very easy to come by and allow you to play hyperbloom, bloom nilou, burgeon, quicken teams
when you see a group of enemies with hydro on them in open world and taking 2 pictures with sac frags and the entire group is gone. One of the most satisfying things in this game
You're right about that I don't need Nahida to clear the abyss but I had to pull her just to replace Dendro Traveller. I need my Traveller to be free from Dendro and having Nahida as a replacement, I can keep my hyperbloom team. However other Dendro characters doesn't fit that role the way I hoped for. They are either less potent or not the way I used them.
Answer: No Reason: There is no such thing as a "must pull" character. There are characters that can be significantly beneficial, but realistically all the content can be completed with 4 stars. Now I have noticed, that on mobile I gravitate towards stronger teams. Especially in the abyss. While on PC, I am willing to use teams that are interesting albeit maybe slightly less powerful. I picked up Nahida this banner, and she is indeed nice. But even though I had her at 89 with talents at 4/8/7 and 922 EM, 154% ER I didn't use her for floor 12. I tried a few od her teams out, but I ended up going back to my favorite team from last abyss Yaoyao/Fischl/Keqing/Kazuha and XQ/Zhongli/Hu Tao/Yelan. Of course it should be noted that the teams I ended up using are quite strong. But, it goes to show that most people who have been playing a while, and who have invested resin into their teams, probably don't NEED Nahida. The detail that pushed me to pull for Nahida was how good she is at collecting plants and stuff. That's an SS tier feature.
"Constellations and weapons are basically the same thing" and her my friends why he is biased asf, and doesn't know how the game actually works. Surely Ganyu's C6 (which id such a qql improvement) === R5 her BiS weapon, surely Hu Tao C1-C3 is the same as staff of Homa. Ofc, Cons make you do less damage, but they transform your gameplay and allow for different teams, etc.

She can simply be used as green Albedo who works vs bosses. Nice off field damage in infinite aoe. She can be used as EM buffer, healer, battery. She might be worse than Mona or Sucrose in that role but chances are, she'll be good enough. She's also the best shield breaker vs elements dendro works on.

I asked this in the q&a but I guess it’s not technically relevant to nahida herself. What do you think a new dendro unit would need to have to replace her on most teams? What is nahida missing that a new support could replace her in? How would you design your perfect dendro support?
Nahida’s biggest weakness is in multi wave scenarios where you have to keep swapping her back to apply her E. If we have a character who applies dendro similar to Albedo’s E then that character could be better than Nahida in terms of dendro app. It’s be even better if the character somehow gives direct damage scaling similar to how Kazuha turns EM into elemental damage bonus.
For me a dendro layla will be a reliable substitute for nahida, baizhu kit is weird imo the shield have to be broken to apply dendro and that just for single target while layla have a durable shield that shoot homing missile, her burst is a mini ganyu's burst now imagine if it's dendro....
What we're missing is a Dendro Xingqiu. Basically, a fast Dendro applicator that's not a circle impact. Baizhu's dendro applicator is too shit so it doesn't fulfill that role. Works fine in Quicken but not in HB.
I think we already have this scenario and it’s healing so Yao Yao and Baizhu since Nahida’s HP is low and maybe some don’t have other slots for healers Their dendro application is way lower but i can see casuals gravitate towards them. Other than that, she’s pretty comfy in battles, kinda hard to nerf
Nahida is strong, comfy and all that stuff, but for me she's a must have because of all funny dendro team comps she enables. When you reach endgame there's literally nothing else to do other than theorycrafting and inventing bicycles. Especially proud of my burgeon Yanfei tbh
I agree. Yanfei burgeon is great! No idea why people keep talking about Thoma, when you can't even build him full EM, LOL. Yanfei with about 1200 EM with Nahida's buff can just wipe out mobs in a single explosion ❤🔥
@@nicklousmcchesney5151You can, you just need a fairly high amount of ER substats, which is hard to do since EM is already the rarest mainstat. Thoma is still theoretically the best character for Burgeon, but Yanfei could potentially be the best on-fielder, as she's a Catalyst. I haven't tested any of this though, so take my words with a very large grain of salt.
"The end game content does not require endgame investment" That's a little bit of a misleading statement, while yes you can make it work with lower tier units/weapons but you'll need really good artifacts, adjust your team for the abyss and probably still need to retry a buttload of times.
im a cyno main, and i felt a small amount of regret when pulling nahida cos she didnt felt too much of an upgrade VS DMC, cos she's just more damage in Quicken. And in multi-wave enemies in abyss, i prefer DMC cos i wont have to swap early away from Cyno on his burst. Now i dont'regret her at all cos i just pair her with Cyno VS bosses that runs away most of the time, like the Terrorshroom.
I'm glad you said what you said about "must pulls". To add to this, there is no 5 star you can pull that will get you back the gems you spent to get the 5 star. There is no competitive meta in Genshin so you really can just pull who you want, learn how to play them, and get pretty far / have fun playing.
in aggravate you can simply remove anemo unit. No longer any hassle with VV. Can easily slot in a healer, buffer, shielder. Zhongli even gives omni res shred which Nahida benefits from, unlike anemo variant. Beidou is a great third electro instead of anemo - she also shreds electro res but provides a lot of electro damage, damage reduction, shield.
YES. Thanks for this comment. People are too attached to standard team templates. Nahida provides so huge value, that it easily can be more worth it to change anemo to triple electro or Zhongli or Kokomi, than changing her to Yaoyao Not mentioning that Nahida on Prototype Amber is also still almost always better than Yaoyao, especially when dendro application is top important - like on current floor 12.
Tbh the "no unit is a must pull" take is a correct one, but it doesn't help players who want quick answers to which unit should they really pull if primogems is a factor, and most people are lazy enough to sift through every guide in youtube to know Nahida's true value. Most people also aren't mechanical gods so having really strong characters like Nahida are a huge investment. Imo Nahida is really close to being a must pull.
Yes, it does help because people can just play the same ol national team and still clear content just fine. hence why no unit is a must pull. There’s no answer to which unit should anyone pull because it depends on what people really want for themselves. it is dumb to assume that people will always go for absolute power alone. people who care about both powerlevel and fun does exists. for example, Nilou. is she strong ? yes she is, but if you don’t like her playstyle, then why the hell would you pull for her ? The whole point of “no character is a must pull” is to help people escape the unhealthy FOMOs. It is good to know how strong characters are but nobody should feel pressured to pull for characters they don’t like just because they saw people showered the character with praises.
I almost never use dMC since I got Nahida, especially since I also got Yaoyao... But yeah, sure... I mean, dMC is ok-mediocre unit, yeah. It was clear to me from the start it's nothing amazing. Hype was completely absurd when Sumeru dropped and opinions/feelings from this time just carry to this day.
@@よしみ-x5j Nahida doesn’t work in Salad while Dendro Traveller does Collei has highest frontload Dendro application thus ideal for frontload damage from Nilou Bloom Aggravate does not need high dendro application thus Yao Yao’s application is more than enough Baizhu works with onfield carries against multiwave contents while with Nahida, you will need to switch the on field out, thus dps loss Alhaitham and Tighnari both have higher personal damage than Nahida, so their spread team are stronger than Nahida spread Everyone have their own things, I suggest you do some research
I've been playing Prototype Amber on my Nahida since her release and honestly I cannot go back. Not having to worry about energy requirements at all combined with more flexible teambuilding because I don't need a dedicated healer in most teams because of it is really nice. To anyone who is trashing it, don't knock it until you try it!!
Used Prototype Amber on Nahida on the Abyss cycle where floor 12-2-2 is the Golden Wolflord and 12-3-2 are a lot of Rifthounds (I think it was the patch after her release?). Since I'm running a Hyperbloom team and my 4th has to be a Geo character, I had to slot in a Geo who would be more useful than just a sub-DPS (so not GMC or Ningguang) or Noelle whose shield gets penetrated through by the Rifthounds. My team had to be Nahida with Prototype Amber, Kuki Shinobu with full EM, Ayato for on-field Hydro application (I run Rational on the other side, so Xingqiu is busy), and Yun Jin to buff Ayato and break the Wolflord's shield. Nahida helps with the off-field healing so that Kuki doesn't get dropped by a Rifthound sneeze.
Let's be real - Yaoyao rarely will be better option than Nahida with Prototype Amber. Yes, I've already tested it enough. Yaoyao is only great when she stays on-field, so for Nilou-bloom. I dunno why Zajef is talking so much about fav for Nahida. I can be useful, yeah, but not very often. Prototype Amber is already more useful.
@@igg12 I care about facts, you know. Zajef is right about fav supremacy, just you can find moments of exaggeration / when recommendation doesn't make sense. I'm sure for Nahida it's not way to go for most scenarios, even simply because she generates tons of particles just by herself. It's same like his recommendation of fav on Yaoyao for all teams, while in quicken it's usually completely useless.
For me personally, Nahida truly brought a joy of playing genshin to me and helped me 36 star abyss for the first time. having nahida, i build a lot of characters that used to be benched, that i pulled just for liking them, but never used. I believe having nahida can help a lot of forgotten characters work in her teams
Not gonna lie I'm so tempted to get her to C2 cuz I love electro characters and any kind of bloom reaction so increasing the power of the whole team seems fun but My lvl 80 C0 Nilou with C0 Nahida, Xinqiu and Yao beat wenut and so does my Kuki hyperbloom with C0 Nahida tho with a few more tries (raiden hyperbloom have even easier time) so... I'm not sure. I know chasing bigger number once you pass the hardest content doesn't make much sense but my monkey brain just cannot resist the temptation I'm really not sure if I want to pull for her cons or waiting for 4.0 characters cuz that is a really long time and I have no interest in any of the leaked rerun nor baizhu. Sigh...
Nahida is kind of cringe for a salad team, but I still like playing Nahida, Fischl, Kazuha, Barbara. When it works it's a fun team, but the DPS isn't always enough to 36 star the abyss.
Of course. Simply - she is not an absolute must pull, cause... there is no such thing as an absolute must pull. While where 'must' has real meaning - like - must to get most of the value from dendro - yes, obviously she is a must pull.

@@Sorestlor it kinda is, cus you don’t need chip healing if can dodge properly. And if you are against corrosion, better bring a real healer. Also Sucrose should be on field here to trigger Fischl A4 and C6 because nahida can’t trigger Fischl A4 with spread. Meaning that running PA on sucrose = less EM sharing, less swirl dmg, less aggravated swirl dmg. So yeah, it works well because the team dps is top meta but hmmmmge it’s cursed for sure.

Wasn’t mentioned, but Nahida E on Sumeru NPCs gives extra story depth to them by reading their thoughts, including the limited time Event quests in Sumeru
@@dreznovk I swear I used it in a few sumeru quests and it didn't work. I say few because I rarely bothered with it (it's not very interesting even when it works). It definitely didn't work on the playable characters in the archon quest (Alhaitham, Nilou, Cyno, Candace etc), I remember it just showing dots.

15:50 that's why for keqing aggravate I much preffer running Yaoyao. Since her personal dmg doesnt matter and she heals a ton at a baseline you can put her on 4p instructors or noblesse and consolidate dendro application, healing and team buffs
Ture, the only reason I would consider baizhu to replace Yaoyao is because I wanna play yae in the future. Unlike Keqing with tons of I-frames, yae goes EEE~ with no resistance to interruption
About the Widsith discussion - another great thing about front-loading the damage where possible, is that if you kill enemies or reduce their health quickly, you get more energy particles from them. This means you can get away with less energy requirements and build slightly more offensive stats overall (then you get even more front-loaded damage and even more front-loaded energy). Having said that, if you can't be bothered to min max for specific chambers and you use meta teams, it's perfectly possible to clear with ER weapon and ER sands on all your sub-dps characters. I like my 300 ER Bennett
Knowing from the beginning that 'must pull' is ALWAYS objective term and never was about subjective one, then bringing up 'pull for whoever you like' is like dodging the question. If this game's hard contents are easy enough to be cleared with some investment, then any character that easily helps you lower that requirement over that investment IS the must pull unit. I don't think the term of 'must pull' is static, it should be adaptive and relative to a certain context, just because existing characters have been able to do it, new players keep on coming and they shouldn't walk on our path when we knew damn well that a lot of things have changed now for new players.
i have a question. Is fischl THAT good for aggravate teams? ive been using keqing-yae-nahida-jean (waiting for kazuha rerun). Should I build fischl to replace keqing/yae? if so, is it better to replace yae or keqing?
Fishl is the best unit for an aggravate team, because of her ascension 4 passive. But it takes an other electro unit (preferably main dps electro unit) to trigger that passive that has no icd, which procs many extra aggravate dmg. So, build Fischl asap, but to play her as a goat support for keqing or yae. Keeping keqing or yae is just a matter of personal choice. I tested both, and i decided to go for keqing because more versatility, more s and less interruption.
If you're wondering how good she is a well-built Fischl will generally out dps a well-built Keqing in single target just from Oz dps and her A4 passive (provided Keqing is on the field helping it trigger of course). Stringless is really good on her if you have it as well.
Zajef, I got a question. Would Baizhu or Nahida be better for Aggravate Cyno? Who would be better for Hyperbloom/Quickbloom Cyno? I'd like to know this to help me save primos. I love this ask zajef series, keep it up!
Nahida has much better uptime, EM buff and personal dps both in ST and especially aoe. She also has infinite aoe while Baizhu is mostly single target. The only thing Baizhu offers over Nahida is shield/healing. They are quite different characters. Baizhu would let you drop a shielder/healer from Cyno team, Nahida can't. When you use Nahida with Cyno you will likely need Zhongli or some healer instead.
I'd go with nahida, she is comfortable to play and has better dendro application overall you might get more use out of her with other characters aswell, baizhu is nice with cyno cause of the shielding preventing interruption + healing, but his dendro application is single target/very small area, he also needs quite a bit ER especially if you don't have a 2nd dendro in your team.
@@ghostwithsliceoftoast It is highly variable depending on how good at dodging you are. Some people don't use healer at all. Xingqiu is deceptively strong in this role because he provides 40-45% damage reduction and interruption resist and small healing (which is effectively doubled thanks to value of damage reduction) so definitely try him out. If he's lacking, add someone more.
I wanted nahida, but kaveh being with baizhu instantly means she's a skip for me coz I like them better, can already 36 star with dmc so I don't think I'll regret this decision, might as well have fun while playing the game instead of aiming for numbers and faster clears
Is favonius better than widsith for an Alhaitham hyperbloom team with yelan and kuki? I use dentraveler with r5 fav and I still struggle to get Alhaithams burst (he has 120 er) on every rotation and I plan to pull for nahida. Both widsith and fav codex are r5 and I don’t know which one to choose for her.
