Is Square Enix BANKRUPT??? 

I did not like the FF7 Remake, I'll never buy a Square Enix game again.

I am your age and agree with a lot of this. One thing I disagree with though is the game play. I always thought the OG gameplay was boring, even back in 97. I liked the Secret of Mana/Evermore games and am happy to see the new gameplay is more like that. I also commend them for making Cait Sith and Yuffie likeable and way more interesting. But the tiktok brain problem is real, especially with the multiverse. The end of game 2 is a mockery and gets me way more angry than it should.

I played the original growing up on PS1 and it definitely is way better than the remakes. The remakes are ok... They're just different games entirely and the story isn't as good. But at least they are a sequel rather than a remake so you can write them off and ignore them or not include them in your personal cannon if you don't want to. The only thing I disagree with in this video is that Square definitely should 100% go multi-platform. Especially if they're hurting so bad for money. Selling your game in more places will make the company more money. Especially on PC where the majority of people, including myself, play. Gaming is for everyone and exclusivity is a dated idea that no longer works and that's proving true more and more every day. I say we all game together on all platforms and enjoy all games everywhere. Because that's better for everyone involved. The gamers can buy any game on any box they want and the companies make money! It's in win for all. Great video though! It came through recommended and I had a good time watching.

Considering the PS5 platform isn't profitable exclusively, it would be a mistake for Square Enix to then sell to them. They need to go where the money is, if anything they'd do better being exclusive to Nintendo than Sony. Notice no Nintendo games from Square Enix were mentioned losing them money. They need to go multiplatform for now to recover the money they lost on PS5, but if the Switch 2(or whatever it will be called) hits the same or similar sales numbers as the current Switch then it would definitely make more sense to migrate to Nintendo if they had to be exclusive. Hopefully they get their shit together and figure out how to make fun games again, maybe even start using older IPs they haven't used in a while.

Square Enix has suffered a financial drop, sure, but they're not in "dire straights" or at risk of crashing. FFXIV is still wildly successful with no signs of slowing down, unlike it's predecessor FFXI. FFXIV is their major cash cow right now and it rakes in a lot, man. Looks like a ton of resources have been aimed at FFXIV with the changes and new DLC coming out in a couple of months to make up for these losses aswell. I feel like Square Enix should've kept the FFVII formula the same with modernized graphics and that's it, totally agree with you, no changes. This is sort of like one of those Konami situations where Kojima went overboard with the budget (Metal Gear: Phantom Pain), but his team's work actually paid off. Square Enix is very likely going to dial back the resources used in the modern version of FFVII to amend these losses along with create more time killers (mobile games), some of which actually aren't that bad if you're familiar with every single FF game. A lot of call backs and fair earnings for free to play users, so fans do enjoy some of them. Another thing to note, however is; the gaming industry in general is suffering losses all-around. This is due to covid no longer keeping people indoors and heavy investments in games are just no longer paying off in this regard. Layoffs have been everywhere, some studios entirely at risk of closing down completely. We're just now seeing the fallout of the heavy investments made during the time of covid in the gaming space. Also multiplatform and crossplay between platforms is the way of the future. The whole console wars is a thing of the past. Majority of us all just prefer to play together now. The more people, the more fun. Being "exclusive" is extremely anti-consumer, looking at you Bloodbourne. The more audiences something reaches, the more potential. That said; Exclusives is all that keeps Nintendo afloat, we all know their methods are rather archaic, but that's an entirely different can of worms. Your concerns are definitely warranted, but I don't think we'll see much of a difference or an acquisition of Square Enix from one of the platform divisions. TLDR: Square makes TONS from FFXIV. Modern FFVII (still not a bad game) should've been the same game as PS1 FFVII with modernized graphics + audio, that's it, no changes. Don't worry, nothing is really going to change much. This is happening everywhere right now in the gaming industry because "covid investment" fallout only just starting to really show and becoming public information.

meh nonsense. if you like the original you should buy and play this. i feel sorry for anyone that played the remake but skipped the rebirth.
