Most people have forgotten the sheer joy of driving a small, sporty car with a manual transmission. Almost none of them under about 30 will ever know. I learned to drive on an old Celica with a five speed and while it was bog slow compared to today's cars it was so much fun in the mountains where I lived.
@@wanderbread4217 Thinking of the wrong engine, bud. The 1.5 turbo was the one with those issues. That was the first guy's point. The NA 2.0 has zero issues and a Honda 6-speed is always bulletproof.
I bought one last month. Love driving it at night, feels like you’re in a spaceship with that dash. It definitely does feel deceiving big lol. It just amazes me how far Honda has come over the years perfecting their cars over time
6 speed manuals are so fun to drive, even when your first learning and get that bucking bronco action. But then learn to smoothly change gears. After that it's over your hooked and such a joy to drive.
Great car with great history. Thank Honda they still have the manual transmission option. Those wheels reminds me of the wheels from the NSX. Beautiful bodylines and overall design. Love it.
I bought myself a 2019 sport coupe manual thanks to your 2019 video, and don’t regret it at all. So yes, these cars are definitely worth it. Thanks Joe.
I bought mine on Memorial Day and it’s literally so fun convenient and gives you plenty of comfort. Lemme tell you tho, when the turbo kicks in you can really feel it😂 my hatchback handles like a dream.
Joe we asked for it and you gave it to us again... some really good value for the money. I'll stick with my Fiesta ST over this, but this Honda Civic Sport will be really reliable and run forever. Huge props for finding a Sport with a 6-Speed Manual. Great work as always my friend. Keep it up!
Joe you nailed it in this review! I picked up mine in March. Identical to your test car but in Aegean Blue. Definitely the best car I've ever owned. I had a 98 Civic EX coupe. 2005 Subaru Legacy. 2014 Accord Sport sedan. All with manual transmissions. And this is definitely the most fun. Loves to rev. Has VTEC. No turbo worries. Great ride and handling. And the value for the price is incredible.
Great review Joe! If it were my money I'd spring for the Si. 4 grand more you get a turbo charged engine with 50 more hp and torque, an LSD, adaptive suspension, amazing seats, dual zone climate, heated seats, and a sunroof. I have a 2019 Si Coupe so I'm a little biased :)
It's a Honda, and has a 6 spd. manual transmission, no CVT, how can it, "not", be a great value, @ $22,000.00 Functioning front air vent, for horn noise decibel amplification... "Genius"!! Prop Rod, a true traditional Honda standard item! 😁 Sounds Awesome! Interior is great for what your getting for your money! Nice under dash cubby area for the your concealed carry, "OH, Nevermind"! 🙄 Simple business side, however, I'd like to see a flat bottom steering wheel, for I would need the leg space for clutch pedal travel... Great review, on a great first car to learn how to drive a manual, and a true value! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🏁🏁
Just got my brand new Honda Civic sedan sport too last 3 days ago and I can’t resist to drive it everyday! All the specs and trims are so good! Really can’t get over it! So far it’s a 10/10 for me!
as always from the best car reviewer :) i bought my first car this April after seeing you previous Honda Civic Coupe video :) keep the content coming !!
I got a first gen civic sport sedan and regretted it. Buuuuut having Raiti actually point out the good things of my vehicle really helped me appreciate my car. Yeah it’s not a mustang 😪 but hey it can dance through turns 👌.
G Esparli yea I mean you have a good car luckily but maybe you can trade if you want to later. When you say Mach 1- forgive me but are you talking about that new Ford? I only know of the Mach E. Please tell me so I can research it. Thanks Man!
Joshua Rutter yea dude the new Mach 1 from ford. It’s looking really nice. Might go base as I know the ya doing/appearance package will cost too much for me
I love the Civic I had a 2007 EX my dad has it now It has over 300k miles on it But in 2020 the Nissan Sentra looks better than the current Civic Great job Joe
Na... I can't even like the looks of a Nissan product because they've been such garbage recently🤦♂️ I'm a Honda fan boy tho. But at least honda makes a great 🚗💨
I still remember the video you made in a year ago, same car. And I bought this car after I saw that video for no long, is being a year now, amazing car and review! :)
@@RaitisRides I'm little bit upset because I didn't choose the manual for my Civic sport sedan, I might choose the manual version if I can going back to time!
That HDMI exhaust didn’t sound too bad. 😀 Love the exterior colors. The wife couldn’t drive this vehicle because of the stick otherwise it could’ve been on her list of cars to consider. $22k is a very attractive price. Keep’em coming young man 👍
such a beautiful car, smooth engine, light clutch. only thing that makes me crazy is that Honda sells this exact same car with exact same specs for $10,000 more above the US market price ! ridiculously priced, no additional value for the extra cost.
I rather to buy this Honda Civic Sport sedan with the 6-speed manual than to buy the SI or the Type R......because it doesn't have turbo, most importantly, it is cheaper than the other two, 4k to 5k less than SI and less than half of the price of Type R, what a deal. Honda is really how to make cars what the consumers want and need.
Do I need to watch this video? Not really. Do I even like the Civic? No, I personally prefer the Corolla. Would I like to know how many Twinkies the center storage can fit? ... ... *clicks on video*
I own i the 2019 sport sedan CVT. In manual mode it is definitely a fun daily driver. Perhaps next time I’ll go all the way up the chain and get a Type-R?
Honda still makes the old 2.0L engine? That's a bit of a surprise to be honest. Maybe it's a better engine than the 1.5 Trash found in most of the other trims. Nothing fancy, but the car you could daily drive and feel mostly fine about.
This is the K20C2 engine. Came out with 2016 Civics. Dual overhead cam with VTEC. Same engine used in US Formula 4 race cars. It's solid. And it's in the family with the K20C1 used in the Civic Type R. I bet it will be running long after the turbo motors have expired.
As an Si coupe owner, get the Si. More power, an lsd, tighter suspension, etc. It's my daily and it's not too crazy compared to something like a Type R. My wife has an auto Civic hatchback and even she says the Si isn't too crazy, lol
I'm actually looking to get a 2020 Civic Sport. I've looked at red and grey one, test drove it, got all my personal important info on it, payment plan and financing info on it. The only thing I didn't care for is the Civic's I looked at had the automatic, not a manual. Waiting to see how my tax refund can help. I owe too much on my trade so I have to do the wait and see time now. Overall, I was satisfied with my experience at my local Honda dealership
This has way more bottom end torque than my 98 Civic EX. Not as fast as the turbo Civics but once you get past 3k rpm it moves. Sweet spot is about 4500 rpm.
thebigcheese3000 Nothing will sound or make you feel the same way as VTEC kicking in yo. But these cars are faster, more efficient, and it won’t disappoint as long as your expectations aren’t unreasonable.
JOE ~ tony macaroni's score card: 6 speed manual = plus no sunroof = zonk low HP = zonk no CVT = plus Honda reliability = plus, in a nut shell however my Mini Cooper S can smoke it while in neutral lol. loving me some Raiti's Rides reports - tony
This is a nice option for someone who can’t quite afford an Si, or maybe a bit higher insurance policy for the Si. Or get it in the hatchback if you want a sporty Civic hatch.
Correct me if im wrong but i drove the 2020 Toyota Corolla hatch XSE 6speed manual MSRP right around 25k but it felt way better and also the interior materials felt that way and the way it handles is really nice cuz it has independent suspension in the rear...the only think that i really didnnt like was the trunk space and rear seats are small
I know you've done great reviews of both cars so I was hoping you could give me a little advice this 2020 honda civic sport or 1.6L 2021kia forte gt? It's a tough choice!
Which do you think is more reliable? 2020 Civic LX, Corolla L, Impreza Convenience, or Elantra Essential? They all have CVT. Should we consider Manual? Is anyone good enough to buy, or should we just lease? We need very reliable AC . We were leaning toward the Civic but they have big AC problems.
Lol I just bought a 2017 Acura TLX V6 SH-AWD and I'm watching this lol. The TLX is more like a big cruiser that's very comfortable and fast when you want it to be fast. The TLX is a heavy car and doesn't have a manual option. I think I would probably have more fun with a lighter civic with manual transmission and more feedback. I do appreciate the refinement of the TLX but a slower car can be more fun. I also have a 2012 Mazda 3 2.0L and it's more fun to drive than my TLX
