The RT line is the underrated car in Dodges lineup. I have rented 3 RTs (two Challengers and one Charger) and every time I drive one it makes me grin from ear to ear. The RT is DEFINATELY underrated. 😁
Its because a lot of the doofuses on the internet go "OH ITS ONLY 370HP??? HOW WEAK AND UNDERPOWERED" or say how you really should just mod it, both parties completely misunderstand the purpose of the R/T. It's not supposed to be some crazy performance model, it was always, even since 2005, intended to be a daily driver V8 model. It's literally using the workhorse truck motor. Unlike the Scat Pack or Hellcat, it doesn't require premium fuel, the parts for it are far cheaper (unless you option it with performance upgrades), and it gets much better fuel economy as well. Plus the engine itself is far cheaper and easier to find parts for. Its essentially supposed to be an old-school nod to how most American sedans in the 60s and 70s were daily driven with torque-y V8s, not even sport sedans, just normal cars. Its the same principle, but because the Scat Pack and Hellcat are so insane it makes the R/T trim look muted by comparison. Its still an incredibly fun car, any Hemi is great. And honestly I think the narrowbody Scat Packs/392s are sort of worthless next to the R/T if they have the 245 wheels, as the traction barely holds together on even the R/T. Imo you have to either get an SRT narrowbody or a widebody Scat Pack/Hellcat to even really utilize the extra horsepower all that much.
Current owner of a 2017 5.7 R/T. I got mine used at 70k miles. From my personal experience the 5.7 IS NOT WORTH all that money. Maybe 30k max!! Plus NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE OR WHICH TRIM YOU DRIVE, these cars get targeted by police and EVERYBODY races you for reasons unknown 😏
@@sendit3251got mine at 36k..... currently 44500. No problems.....some tried stealing it and broke out my upper front grille and cut my horn harnesses. 🤦🏾♂️
I went new RT because I know how most of these used cars have been abused and don’t want the issues. I have this exact same car for my family but 2023 last call edition with leather and the sunroof. Of course it’s not as fast as a scat pack. But you can “beat” them from light to light and should last well over 200kmiles
I picked up my 2022 RT just last week. Only 2k miles on it, paid 35k for it and I freakin love it! It’s the perfect car for those looking for some muscle but not trying to break the bank as well
I’ll be honest, my challenger RT was 46 WITH the brembo brakes and nicer rims. It was ok stock but with the right exhaust and a tune these are GREAT fun cars. Mine has long tubes and a borla atak, sounds insane
Literal twin to my charger I have on my channel as well. Handles and performs beautiful. Only difference is that I got this car back in September of 2022 for 37k at a 2.9% rate 0 miles. Also changed my front grille to the scat pack snorkels and it looks gorgeous. Great video man
Even seen infiniti q50 red sport and regular ones kill these things and they make less power but chargers and scatpacks still get smoked but 3.3L turbo 6s its ridiculous how heavy these boats are the power to weight is poorly engineered for its own good
😂 everybody in the comments swear they know all of the good deals. If you want a nice reasonable gt500, just ask the people in the youtube comments. They'll know where to find that car for $5 dollars 😂
😂 no it’s not worth it you can easily find a good scat pack for 25-30k on market place that lil baby 5.7 not worth it. Drive a scat pack next and you will see why it’s a better choice.
The GT version has 300 hp. You say it weighs 4400 pounds? nope. Closer to 4290 without a sun roof.. Put down the red bull and walk away. Just a bit too excited and animated . Calm down.
laugh your ass off? I've been a professional auto and motorcycle mechanic longer than you've been alive. Real professionals take comments both good and not so good with a mature attitude, not using acronyms like lmao. How old are you?@@ProfessorDrives
Sorry me personally can’t buy no muscle car used. All the wear and tear on them engines need to be from what I did to it. I will save to buy new or I’m not buying at all unless I really don’t plan on keeping it
@@ProfessorDrivesthere’s definitely some in Texas, Charger & Challenger hellcats. I seen some on Carfax mainly in the Dallas, Austin & San Antonio area
I'm tired of these "is it really worth it" videos. Price gouging is never justified and we should never tolerate it, we should stop making excuses for corporate America's bullshit.
He's talking about the car itself dummy...if you get ripped off on the pricing and don't know how to negotiate, then that's your fault and it's deserved....
