Dude, the way you can articulate your driving experience is phenomenal. You always talk about things that matter and don’t try to fit in a bunch of cheesy stuff like in other review videos. Keep doing what you’re doing.
A tune and carbon plenum really wake these cars up...neither will add a ton of power but both make the driving experience and engagement much more enjoyable. Great review, keep the content coming!
I too am a Porsche nerd more than I used to be…but I will always love this car. I think it’s better dynamics at the limit than all but the gt3’s. I almost bought one of these for about $20k as well. In retrospect I wish I had.
The S65 engine has 71 percent torque to power. 295ftlbs/414bhp.The flat 6 in the 911 Gt3 has 346ftlbs and 490bhp..70 percent torque to power. People say the s65 has low torque...it has plenty. It has a normal amount for an NA engine. It actually makes 340 of its 400 nms at just 2000rpms and yet revs to 8300rpms.. What an engine
Try more like 36-42k now for the competition package, 6MT, with few owners, clean title, below 80,000 miles, etc. But it will be worth far more in 5-7 years -my opinion.
@@guridhesi I haven’t missed it at all! Go test drive one of these if you can and see if it makes you feel the same way. Both great cars but the M3 better suited my preferences for my use. Ymmv
First thing to do on a USA model is to switch the MDM to Euro (ECE) using NCSexpert which will make it less intrusive. Also ditch the Continentals. They have reasonable grip but the steering is definitely less precise at highway speeds compared to Michelin PS4S.
Underrated comment. I had an e92 manual and now an e90 dct and I fully believe in going with the best gearbox possible for a car. There was nothing special about the manual gearbox in the e92.
That said, have you driven the Z4 M coupe/roaster or the z3 m coupe? I’d pay for a direct to dvd comparison video of you driving those two cars and sharing your thoughts.
Nice review, I like all the driving impression talk/comparison, I get tired of repeating the same facts/stuff you hear everywhere. "Guzzles gas like no other" -- hehe, I'd love to get 250 miles out of tank from my W204 C63. I'm happily doing around 10.5 mpg in backroads driving for about 160 miles before filling up.
I bought one last year. 6MT Comp pack. Exactly what I wanted. My favorite M3. I wish it had more low end torque tho. You can feel it especially driving in the streets. The engine shines when youre in the upper RPM’s.
The increased maintenance costs and higher purchase price are much more important factors to consider. Having another car for daily driving (Civic, Sonata...) would be wise.
I just totaled my 2011 M3 e92 competition 😭😭😭 I was looking for another but finding the right specs and prices ehhhh. It’s the Only M I’ve owned and more than likely my last. Plan on jumping into a different platform GTR or something completely different a Jeep Gladiator. Don’t know what to do lol 🤔
Hard for me to accept but Ford made the mustangs so much better 2015+….it really became the spiritual successor to the only V8 m3 ever made, especially as the redline has risen
Can you do a video comparing driving dynamics between your 997 vs the m3? Surprised that you said comparable at the limits. To me, there’s no question that the 997 feels better, not necessarily faster tho
E92 m3 weight is 3461 E46 m3 weight is 3443 The made v8 super light Plus plastics fenders Carbon boxer bumper reinforcement front and back So if we talking weight difference there no difference at all
For tight parking spots get the widows coded to come halfway down on opening the door or like me double push unlock on fob. Only have to open door a fraction to get in, gota love those frameless windows, and beats the corner of the window to the tit OUCH!
I don't think it's worth more than $35k, because the F80 M3 is starting to drop in price to this range. While the E9x M3 is very entertaining, it's got reliability issues all over the places. F80 M3s not only performs better but it cost way lower to maintain and modify. The F80 chasis and tech is just amazing compared to E9x. The main reason for the E9x M3 is the v8 and the hydraulic steering rack which gives it a raw feel. But I assure you that driving the F80 M3 will inspire much more confidence.
the e92 will be all time classic, the price will go to sky as the last n/a m3! buy it now and sell it in 10 years will be a profit investment for a clean car!
@@rowinglove4ever I do think that’s a possibility but I’m not all the way convinced it’s necessarily going to happen. It didn’t happen for the E36 M3. I notice that most of the cars that go on to be legendary were pretty legendary at the time - E30 M3 was big at the time, E46 M3 huge at the time, GT350 big at the time, Skyline GTR huge are examples. Meanwhile cars like the Foxbody Mustang and the E92 M3 underperformed and had lukewarm responses in sales and from people generally. The S65 motor was praised at the time… no doubt about that. But time has not been kind to it with rod bearings, throttle actuators, etc. Like the foxbody though, the E92 M3 have a growing following but both movements have one major flaw. Their value is tied to people wanting and expecting them to raise in value. The E92 crowd want so badly to be the modern day “Respect your elders” crowd but respect is earned as opposed to being self designated. And FYI, I absolutely do own a E90 6MT but it’s because I like the car and not because I think it’ll raise in value in some crazy way (which I don’t… for the most part)
@@tractioncontroldelete The time will pass and we will see! The reason why i m telling that is so simple! The last n/a m3! There will be people that will be willing and pay to get them like gold! For example f430 manual was the last manual ferrari! Now you can t find any ander 150k when the f1 that was 10k more expensive, today evaluated at half the price and maybe less!
@@rowinglove4ever I hope you’re right actually. But the facts are against the E92 getting on that level. Production for the car started in 2007 yet here we are going into 2022 where BMW still produces a Manual M2, M3, and M4. Even the manual F430 hasn’t kept, much less increased, it’s value. The MSRP of that Ferrari brand new was about $217,000-281,000 - in 2021 dollars that would equate to over $276,000 and up to $358,000 just to maintain it’s value. So even that car hasn’t kept its value if you can purchase one for $150k. And as for the N/A thing - well that isn’t necessarily going to pan out either because if that was the case then the V10 M5 would just as well rise in value. Think about it… V10 N/A engine and available with a manual transmission BUT it has not risen, maintained, or even avoided further deflation of its “value” I’m just not seeing it as no metric suggests per capita dollar rising. But again, I hope you are right so I can sell my car and take a nice vacation. Until then, I’ll enjoy it while I’ve got it.
Still wondering what the price difference will be between 6mt vs dct in , 5, 10, 20, etc. years from now. Along with the 2 different dashboards. The one with the screen vs the one without (don’t know proper terms) Trying to find one I will enjoy along that might hold value better, kinda like the dct.
@@Cle_M3 i have an opportunity to buy an e93 m3 with about 80k miles for low 20ks clean title, no accidents, super clean inside and out and two owners on record. Should i pull the trigger?
@@Cle_M3 you really think dct over 6mt?? I definitely think the non-navigation will help the value as screens date cars like crazy. One of the reasons the f40 is so Timless. Regardless they will still appreciate as I, and many others see it as the last great M car and as the most special, refined, and attractive M car to ever be produced.
@@fredjay1531 as Clarence said I would definitely go for a hardtop. Preferably a coupe with the comp package (carbon roof) and if you could find one in a state like; Cali, Florida, Texas, etc. where there is no salt on the roads that would be best to prevent rust and things like that. Still am interested to see how the dct vs 6mt pairs out. Both VERY amazing gearboxes
I mean i seen 2jz’s & supras gaining more interest and price so i bought my 335i n54, i figure it will do the same eventually since there similar, possibly passing m3’s in pricing
E90x m3 way to overpriced very slow in torque for a V8 the rod bearings are guaranteed to fail you all my 335i's I've had no rod bearings issues whatsoever..
My infiniti G37 WALKS THESE. From a dig and a roll these are so slow. Any G37 or even Scatpacks will take these like nothing. But the F80 M3 thats a different MONSTER
Have you personally had bad experience with this generation M3? I’m on my 4th E9x M3, and they have been nothing but reliable. Frequent oil changes, and keeping up with scheduled maintenance is all you need to do (rod bearings and TBAs aside) to climb up to that 150k+ mile range.
It’s all about the maintenance. Maintain it and they’ll last longer than you’ll want it. Don’t maintain it and you’ll be pissed and your wallet will be empty.
Agree completely. I love my M3 and Its immaculate under 50k miles. Rod bearings, throttle actuators, brakes and rotors, wheel speed sensors, tire pressure sensors, tires, fuel pressure sensor, new oil fill cap a couple other sensors and put all the leather care and cleaning and washing supplies because it’s an M3. This was all in the last year and cost almost $9,000. Granted some of these things will hopefully never need to be done again but still a lot of electrical problems this year.
