Hi Guys! I messed up - in my head while writing the script I mixed up the prices of the Neo80 and Luminkey80. The Neo80 is actually the same price as the luminkey65 when looking at the base kits- $140. This means that value-wise it can be strongly argued that the Neo80 is actually better in that respect. However, as a prebuilt, the luminkey absolutely trumps, no question. That being said, as a barebones kit, the Neo80 is this board's biggest competitor if layout isn't a huge deal to the consumer. Sorry about this error!
Thanks for the review! Personally really like the aesthetic of this, but using plate mount stabs and requiring the purchase of extra plates to get screw in or clip in stabilizer support is a bummer imo! Maybe not a deal breaker for the target market, but seems like a weird corner to cut at this price point.
Yeah it’s definitely a weird corner to cut- I noticed a few other keyboards in this price range have done similarly, like the gem80. I think it might be a prebuilt thing? Idk I wish I had the industry knowledge LOL
@@AnzelLmaodefinitely would be interesting to know how much they save by using plate mount vs. pcb mount stabs, I’ve gotta think it’s not worth more than a couple bucks (if that), but hard to know. Gotta assume TX / Durock and so on have pretty high margin on such minimal material costs, but I am definitely not an engineer.
Unfortunately I never tried the neo70! And because I’m dumb I completely forgot it existed while writing the script LOL. I will say in regards to ecoat the luminkey is definitely better than the neo65, but I’m unsure it’ll the neo70 has the same finish. But the ano on the neo80 is ridiculously good. The luminkey65’s ano should be decent if the luminkey80 is anything to go by, but it’s definitely not neo80 good. This is all I got for ya, sorry it’s not very conclusive 🫠
Luminkey is higher quality sand comes prebuilt but is no is much cheaper and still sounds really good. Your pick! I have a review on the neo as well :)
Hmmmm that’s a hard choice!! Those are all three different boards at different price points. I can’t say much about the the bd60 because I’ve never seen it before, but damn it looks SO good. But I do have a Hibi June and I love it! I will say it doesn’t feel nearly as substantial as the luminkey60. However it has a pretty rich, deep tone in the way I built it with just a bit of hollowness in the way I built it. It’s also just really fun looking!!
@@AnzelLmao Thanks Anzel I appreciate the answer :D One thing I like about the luminkey65 is that side profile looks sooo good compared to the ol' neo65
