That Yamaha is a killer, but the white on the bottom takes it over the top! I have decided to steal your guitar. Prepare your security countermeasures.
Have to agree, that Yamaha is the coolest of the bunch look-wise. Better upper fret access too. Sounds are hard to compare since those guitars don''t have the same pickups. I suggest you give it to me before somebody steals it...
For me I’m on the same page as you Gabor and as a guitar choice based on tone I would go the same as you with your expensive Gibson and just sounds the best. That Black Yamaha was very different and almost sounded like single coil pickups but I thought also suited Alex playing style. Great comparison enjoyed that one.
Luckily have a Yamaha SBG 1981 black with gold hardware… beautiful guitar. Also Ibanez Artists should be considered LP killas… heavy though. Like them both…
I love it when a video helps with decision making 🙂 Prefer the neck position on the Greco, the middle position on the Yamaha, and the bridge on the Gibsons...
This is something I have been asking myself lately. Now leaning towards Burny, Navigator, Edward’s, Greco or Tokai. I’m just going to keep an eye on local trades and reverb for a while and see what comes my way. Sadly, the South Island of New Zealand has an understandably small used market.
Santana played a custom Yamaha SG 2000 for a while , many years ago , I thought it was the best tone he ever got, have played a 2000 myself, a great guitar but a bit on the heavy side.
The Greco clean tone doesn't sound clean to me. That is your crunch tone. Nevertheless, I really like the sound of the Greco. Totally useable. Same with the Yamaha, I've loved those since I saw Santana playing one in the early 80's.
