Man the maps and destruction have so much potential. If they would actually focus on making gunplay and weapons more fun and customizable, get a normaal team V team game mode with more players and fun game modes that keep the action constant. I mean the concept is unique but it’s just not as fun and addicting like games that focus on the core of what makes an fps fun. Gets borinq quick. The gameplay flow is horrible.

I don't know if this is because of the same DICE devs, but I feel *The Finals* has the same kind of problems as *2042* in some ways. It seems like they don't know what kind of game they want, so they implement both sides and make it annoying. *The Finals* looks like it's about destruction and fun, but then they tweak it to make it competitive. It looks like a team game (and you can win easily playing as a team), but most people just want to run around as light and turn every game mode into team deathmatch. It looks like a shooter, but you die to a lot of cheesy melee weapons or explosives instead, so it's actually not a shooter. Then it tries to cram in some MOBA elements, which most people don't get, and just play lights instead. Lights are also very unbalanced because they have speed, invisibility, stuns, AND the highest DPS, and the only counter is a smaller health pool. It's very weirdly set up and balanced, it's not fun to watch, and most fights are just chaotic and random. I usually play 2-3 rounds and I'm done with it.

Light is objectively the worst class in the game. That's not just my opinion, Embark said they're the most losing class across all skill levels. You have Heavies with fortification and destruction abilities, mediums with healing, revives, and mobility boosts, and lights, with mediocre teamplay abilities. The only thing they're good for is getting kills, but the higher you climb in ranked the more likely they are to be instantly deleted.

you’re right that it’s trying to be a lot of things at once. But the thing you’re missing is that’s the point. Embark WANT this game to be fully casual and fully competitive simultaneously. You’re operating under this black and white pretense that thinks the game can’t possibly appeal to both at once, when in reality it absolutely can, and I’d argue it’s pretty close to at this point. First of all the game obviously has a very strong casual playerbase already. But at the same time, there’s an emerging competitive scene of the game that primarily plays 3v3 matches, and with only a couple rule changes (no duplicate specializations in the same team, one or two banned gadgets), the game is pretty well balanced in that scene as well. Of course, they are continually making balance changes, and we haven’t even gotten to the first update of S4, so let’s wait till we get a couple more balance updates before we judge too hard.

This season is a lot more fun to me and Enders, there's like 2x less cheese from the first season. I want what your smoking. The RPG use to do 175 damage Enders... the c4 with barrel combo use to take out squads without even having to try, the charge slam use to be even better and the medium wallhack ability was the most cheesy thing you could possible put in a game. The turrets had more health and hit harder, the mines use to have 30+ more damage then they do now and you can only set down one. I could type a whole paragraph about how less cheesy The Finals is now. Please let my know your dealers number that's some good sh!t you got.

For me it was just ok. It has all the right ingredients but I get bored of it. I have come to realized that Im just probabaly not into arena shooters anymore. Same thing with Cod or xdefiant.. I get bored of it really fast. It is the repetitive gameplay loop I guess.

I played the finals for 6-7 weeks and then got burned out and started playing 2042. I know unfortunately i joined the finals almost 1/2 way thru season 3 and it was a boring one. But once you did the tour of all the game modes and get paired with teammates that dont play objective and play only for kills it starts to get old.

Hey Enders, here's what I think explains your experience with the gameplay feeling dulled down. Basically, Embark nerfed a lot of heavies shielding abilities and took away the canister nuke. Embark also nerfed the mediums by completely removing their wall hack ability (removal was healthy for the game), and they nerfed medium's healing and revive abilities slightly. Light got their stun gun and shotgun combo nerfed, as well as a handful of other random nerfs. Basically, in an attempt to balance the game, Embark is erasing a lot of the game's fun and class identity. They also refuse to give lights better teamplay and objective scoring abilities, both of which they sorely lack. HHM (Heavy Heavy Medium) comp has been META for 3 seasons and yet lights still get very little love. I 100% agree with you on the gameplay loop, especially on the main cash out and ranked game modes. Having a game where 3rd partying is part of the design feels cheap. You could grab the be first to the cashbox, unlock it, grab it, deposit it, wait 90% of the deposit time, just to be third partied after a hard fight. There is ZERO way to build off of the advantage you had gained by being diligent and securing the cash box and depositing it. A lot of the game mode feels dissonant with actual gameplay of The Finals. P.S. Don't go on The Finals sub on Reddit.

Yeah, I’m gonna keep it real with you dude… I will never understand the argument of “This gameplay loop has too much downtime” or “there’s not enough action” Like are you fuckin kidding me? 😂😂😂 This game is the most action packed game I’ve ever played. I just don’t see the argument you made about how nobody wants to watch this game because there’s too much down time. That just doesn’t make any sense because objectively speaking, this game has way less downtime than the games that were popular on twitch. Apex and Fortnite have way more downtime, so that can’t be possible

Community gets good at the game = not fun anymore If you’re used to the battlefield and linear fps formula then you’re bound not to enjoy the verticality and objective based gameplay of the finals, its more appealing for communities such as both team fortress and titanfall 2 which are more used to learning and enjoying the VERY steep learning curve of the game

Don't play this game and never will but what you're describing is literally DICE to a tee and this game is made by former DICE employees so this adds up. Nerf all fun and casualize the FUCK out of the game. I'm sure the game is very popular on console and those plebians don't even use twitch so that probably doesn't help viewership. Also, no viewers on twitch is kind of a meme. Just because there isn't really viewership definitely does not mean a game is "dead." Which i know that's not really what you said but I just feel the need to point that out. Like WoW and FF14 for example, no viewers but still a fuck ton of active players. Some games are truly engaging to watch and are GREAT spectator sports and some are not. The Finals is similar to R6S for me, I just have no interest in small team games like this. I don't really wanna sweat my ass off holding angles or pushing objectives while being cerebral about my play. I'd rather just turn off my brain and either A. run around on CoD (which I don't really play CoD but I have in the past), B. turn my brain off and play a big ass combined arms arcade game like Battlefield or C. just play a single player game lol. tldr, I'm just not the target audience for this game, there is a market here though for sure.

I love this game. As a COD and BF player tho, I find it getting boring really quick because of the constant lull in gameplay. Gunfights are insane, fun, and chaotic but once theyre done its like 30-60 seconds of running. God help you if you die as soon as you get to the OBJ. In my opinion it needs a 5v5, 6v6, or 9v9 mode. Lower the respawn delay for team wipes and I think it would be even better than it is.

Without finishing the video, I think there's just too much downtime between engagements and that's what makes it boring to watch. I'll say that the biggest things that were wrong with the finals was the solo queue experience sucked and there were no other modes like hard point, domination, hell even a demolition/rush like mode I'd have taken.

The art direction and skins are kind of a mess. Most maps look too plain and boring to look at. I just wish they went with a BF clone as their first game, this game feels so forgettable and unremarkable, and the main gamemodes are quite uneventful.
