We finally find out if the 460 engine is frozen! As well as what direction we shall proceed with said power plant. (The direction I'm sure will most likely be in a circular pattern as is proper here haha!)
I think they put 460s in the medium duty trucks too. I remember our Ford F700 school bus had one. Which explains the HUGE carburetor bores. Unleash ALL the horses! 😎 Good job disassembling the engine so far. Thanks for sharing!
Definitely excited for a grassroots 460 rebuild series! I've got the first shiny new parts on my 302 I'm rebuilding. They might just be freeze plugs but they're still new and shiny...
@@SwedeMachinehope so, because the only performance in my rebuild is the print on a Ford performance cardboard box. It's a roller conversion kit, but I got an Exploder cam to put in, so my roller cam conversion might net me 10hp... More will probably come from new valves that might actually seal to the heads!
Good luck with acetone and ATF. My personal experience is that they won't mix. As soon as you stop shaking, it instantly separates. You end up pouring straight acetone on everything and the ATF stays in the bottle until all the acetone is gone.
Bummer it's stuck. I've been watching this other guy on youtube get engines unstuck with a big chain wrench wrapped around the harmonic balancer. It seems to work a lot better than turning the engine with the crank bolt. Might wanna give that a try!
In a couple of weeks you all will see the inside of the engine. No big spoilers here but I am sure that method would not have worked here. But that is a top tip for sure. Thanks!
Still not sure why there are 3 trans cooler lines. 1 into the normal cooler, 1 to the added cooler and then 1 out??? I've always had standard transmissions.
