Garmin is the clear winner here given the fact that if I bought a $2000 golf tracker tool my wife would flat out murder me.

Sound video. I bought a mevo+ and a powerbank is a must. Anker Power Bank 20000mAh is identical to the Mevo supplied rebadged powerbank.

I bought the MEVO plus just a couple weeks ago. I did know that the Garmin is doing a lot of all those things similar, but I like the more professional style of the Mevo. The FS Skill App ist great and the limited E6 iOS package is great. Downside is the battery life and the WiFi connection that I need to switch around all the time. But the Garmin is still not available in Switzerland, nobody knows when it comes.

@@brendanschriber3242 I'd lean that way however I am a Garmin guy, I have the c10 sensors in my clubs and I use a Garmin Epix Pro 2 watch. So that makes me want Garmin, just not sure it has the features to do what I'd consider "club fitting"? It's 100000% just me tinkering, I'm no club pro, I'm not winning tournaments or anything, just a tech geek who likes golf too :D If Garmin has what it takes then it's a no brainier since I have their stuff already. But something inside me says the Mevo+ is just flat out better... so not sure being in the ecosystem already should trump that or not?

I have GSPro for my R10 and it's amazing. I just went to X Golf for the first time last night and I honestly enjoy playing on my r10 more. X Golf's game play software kinda sucks compared to GSPro, which is sad for a commercial simulator. I went from a 34-38 handicap to 16-20 handicap between fall 2021-spring 2022 using my R10. (Before 2021 I only golfed maybe 1-2 times a year for outings) If you buy the Garmin R10, also buy the Pro V1 RCT balls.

Having had the Mevo+ (switched to GC3 recently as we have longer winters than not) I can say that the battery life is less of an issue than someone might imagine. If you're using it at home, you can leave it plugged in or get an inexpensive power pack to charge it from. However, the intended application is pretty clearly meant to be taking it to the range for a session or pre-round practice and 90m is plenty of time for that.
@clints8888

why the gc3 update
@imasspeons

Once again another great video! This was exactly the review i was looking for. I think I’m going to pull the trigger on the Mevo+. I was so hesitant because I thought I should wait it out and get the Garmin due to the price. However, with the Mevo+ pro package, I really should be comparing it to a more professional launch monitor rather than the Garmin and based on that, its also really good value. I plan on using the device to capture my swing videos/data and sending it to my instructor for evaluation and training as I am often not based at the same location as he is. Honestly, still giving myself reasons (excuses) to buy the Mevo+ … haha. Thanks again!

My buddy has a mevo+, i have an r10, I've used both quite a bit. We did some side by side comparison last night in the basement. They're pretty close indoors.. biggest differences was driver backspin (always reads higher on garmin) and some dispersion/carry discrepancies of 5-10 yards (driver) but you're hitting into a screen 10 ft away.. doubtful either of them is "right", there is so much estimation going on. Also, we were using 2 different apps. Bottom line, if you're just playing indoor golf with buddies on the weekend, not sure the mevo+ is worth the extra money. Outdoors on the range if you're really trying to dial things in, Mevo+ for sure is more accurate. R10 only can read up to like 100M of flight.

Great review as always….not sure why you don’t have more subscribers!!!! Question. I had a Garmin R10 when it was first released and getting it lined up on the range was a PITA with just the red line on top. I found it took about 4 or 5 shots every time I moved it to a new target to get it right. during that time, others were having the same issues and many after market alignment aids were popping up to sit the device on and put alignment sticks in,etc…did they fix that issue? I’m currently using a Mevo and would like the extra data the R10 or Mevo+ provides, but would rather pay $600 and buy a golf club membership with the difference!
@tezzlacoilz
@tezzlacoilz Год назад
Hey Pete, I have the R10 since first release. I didnt have as many issues setting it up, but agree it was still a pain with no aftermarket stand. I dont use mine at the range though, only at home into a net in my garage. I bought a little levelling stand which came with a laser and that has made it so easy to set up correctly - literally 30 seconds. It cost around $30 USD. The laser gives you direction and as it sits in a cutout in the stand, it makes it much easier to move around/aim the stand/unit. BUT you wouldnt be able to really see the laser out on the range in direct sunlight so dont think thats a solution for you!
@petegalindez9961
@petegalindez9961 Год назад
@@tezzlacoilz Yes! I wound up buying a stand too and it has an opening for alignment sticks to fit…But, after using it a bunch, I am now using a Mevo+. The ability to review the shot data on the R10 is absolutely terrible…there’s no way to cull through the data, collate it, compare it, or save it/send it outside of Garmin to do anything with it…I do a lot of club/shaft testing and it’s impossible to compare data between two different clubs…
@tezzlacoilz
@tezzlacoilz Год назад
@@petegalindez9961 yeah alot of people complaining about that exactly and agreed, can't believe the shot data on the Garmin app is 1. So poorly thought out, and 2. Can't be exported. Q: any thoughts on the Mevo (mini)? Does that work as well?
@breakingeighty
@breakingeighty 2 года назад
Yes it works great, and in many cases may be more accurate due to the fact that it directly measures certain metrics vs. using an algorithm, which is what the R10 does for many of it's stats. That said, it doesn't have any lateral data, which is the big knock on it. So you won't be able to see if you have a giant slice or hook, for instance.
@MaartenAnna
@MaartenAnna 2 года назад
Thanks mate, appreciate your thoughts. The fact that you can use the R10 as an indoor launch monitor is a big plus, as well (big knock is that waiting time is 8-10 weeks here in the NL).

I have a general question for both devices. Do they need active internet to operate? I am in rural area where cell service is spotty in my shop where I am going to build my indoor range. With the Garmin you do not need active internet. As long as the apps are downloaded you're good to go. Can't speak for the Mevo but would assume it's the same.

Hey, the only thing I would be curious about the comparison is the data parameters, are they measured or calculated? I thought I read a bunch of the parameters on Garmin aren't actually read, but calculated based on others (I know mevo plus does it as well in some cases). For things like the club information or spin that could really effect accuracy.

I think this comment may come from the alignment issues early on, and how they manifested in lower ball speed measurements and shorter distances calculated with R10. It’s true, you need to make sure alignment is spot on for accurate distances but I’m amazed how much work Garmin is doing on a continual basis with this thing. One huge recent add is measured ball spin with Titleist RCT balls - afaik only Trackman could do that previously and it steps up accuracy significantly. Its popularity is what I believe will make it continue to pull away further from the competition at the same pricepoint
