Thank you for shooting our machine! You got some really great shots. We hope you had a great time with it. Best regards from the Husky Motors Canada Team.
I didn't know we had a Canadian option! Super stoked. I see one in my future. I had a 2019 Skidoo Tundra LT for 3 years. I loved it, but the logistics of loading, transport, storage, maintenance, etc. in a small modular home in Yellowknife with no yard or garage. Nope! This would be awesome for hunting, camping and trail grooming.
I have a Homebuilt tracksled for a quarter of the price of new, but the thing I like most about these Tracksleds is their versatility, I love ice fishing, and most of all adding 3 sleds to the back making it a train and then taking the girls for a rip through town, grabbing groceries, going for a coffee or head out onto the lake for early ice. Super light, fits into the back of my Van and uses very lil gas.. Next to no maintenance which beats a Snowmobile
Thanks for the video. I bought a SnowDog a few years ago. As you say, it doesn't replace a snowmobile, but it is much easier to get unstuck, an since it is narrower, it will go to places the snowmobile or ATV won't. I just bought a snowmobile, but I am keeping the tracked sled. I am glad to see that we came-up with a Canadian version of the Russian SnowDog.
Man for $4k you can get a _really_ nice used snowmobile. For 4k you can get three or four old vintage sleds and make some DIY track sleds. Very cool idea with a great utilitarian use. This really reminds me of ARGO and those mondo 2 wheel drive mini bike/motorcycle things you'd find on the back pages of magazines. :D
Living in Utah I own a Snowdog machine. It was cheaper then 4K$ with the sled and hitch included. Ice fishing and hauling gear is as easy as it gets now. Cool to see other options outside of the states. 🤙🏻
I grew up on the old original machines, started driving a 63 skidoo with a whopping 6 hp! I owned an original hus-ski 444 and also a model 600. I was going to buy a snowdog for next winter but I’m definitely checking these guys out. It would be a great utility machine for our trail filled property, hauling wood out and ice fishing. Not to mention grooming our narrower trails here. Thanks for the review guys. The only thing missing was a link to the Husky site. 👍👍
My grandpa used to have a Red Devil that was very similar to that rig. I saw it in the background of the vidjéo with the bronco vs the jeep and was curious about it. Glad to see this review😎
AWESOME!!!! I wish I'd of had one of these when I was in the USAF and stationed in the U.P. of Michigan back in the 1970's! This would have definitely added to our overall good times in the great Northwoods!
I love it.... They have something like this in the Philippines except its a big single cylinder diesel tiller. It's called a Kalig-lig and they use them in the flooded rice fields. When not in the field, they take off the paddles, bolt on some tires and hook a big trailer on it. It's a legitimate means of transportation there.
Great machine I have so much fun with it , had around 900 pounds of people and gear pulled it no prob even up a hill . The problem with it creeping forward is a simple fix ,it’s was the throttle linkage was to tight had that issue too but easily fixed .
You have such a way with words. You make fudge brownies out of cow pies. "Stay alert for obstacles up ahead or bluououh...shhhjus catches up wid iself..." 😂
Guy named Survival Russia uses a similar machine out in Siberia. Looks like a good workhorse machine if you know how to use it prperly. He also retorred a fully tracked APC to explore the bush and skeg up there.😅
Great review guys as always! Really neat little vehicle..It looks pretty fun to zip around in. Personally I would rather put that 4 grand into a decent SxS for more equipment/people or lockers for the wrangler. I would rent one for an hour to scoot around in the snow/ice for sure! Especially with little kids that may not be able to ride a snow mobile
I was waiting for your dad's comment about it being a good utility machine. These machines do seem to have some advantages over a snowmobile. The first is that you can ride two people. OH&S will not allow double riding unless the machine is built for that (many are not). One pickup truck could carry two of these, without a trailer and provide transport for 4 people. That is a big logistical benefit. You could ride it up narrow cut lines for geophysical work or cut yourself your own trails with less effort. Recreational users would find it slow, but as a machine to drag stuff deep into the forest, it looks pretty good. Fun to ride too. I haven't seen any videos of these machines tackling hills. With their towing ability, they should be good at climbing, but I would like to see that.
Twenty years behind the Russians. Built a couple off You Tube videos six years ago. Yup , they're cool for the intended purpose. Ice fishing super toy. From Sask. Canada.
I'm assuming it doesn't have reverse with such a basic drivetrain, what if you get in a spot where you need to back up and you have a "seat trailer" and another trailer full of wood or gear. Pushing the unit and 2 more trailers could be a issue same with grabbing the front and trying to lift it up and turn it around with 2 trailers.
These things are awesome. I've wanted one ever since I saw a similar setup on RU-vid, check out Survival Russia. I don't get enough snow for that use case but I'm betting these would also do well in other terrains with the right tracks and sleds behind it.
That thing looks like a blast. I wonder if it could be converted and add a snow plow blade to clear a driveway? I think that would also be a big hit. Keep up the great videos.
America.... So interesting that you still are in the 1950:s... "Track sled"s in Sweden are in the museum as a fun way of showing the evolution of snowmobiles... The last one manufactured were in the 1950:s... I really taught that the 50:s vibe were limited to the forrester industry, but I am now starting to believe that America is stuck in the 50:s in more areas.
The riding experience as you describe sounds like the old 60’s and 70’s snowmobiles. Narrow, light, no suspension, and you have to muscle it around. Sounds like a ball.
Actually you could buy a good Yamaha youth snowmobile for about $5,000 new & use it for slow speed work like this. Then you could go a good bit faster when not pulling weight!
Can't help but notice the chain / sprocket wheel to drive the tracks is outside the body and exposed. How is that not a problem? Would you feel safe taking this 10km into the bush? Don't want to have a long walk back. So I guess this comes down to reliability. Honda makes amazing motors, so that's a good thing.
It's late in the season but I would love to see how well this does in deep snow. I have to image with that small Honda motor, this thing is really good on gas? Plus you can use these in the summer too with a wheeled sled instead, right?
For a better idea on deep snow performance Louis from Powermodz did a few test videos here on RU-vid of the Snowdog brand machine which is the same as this Husky. He had the Snowdog in some deep off trail snow.
Sorry to say but if you take one of these into the deep snow once you will never ever do it again it keeps tipping over to the side and you cannot keep it upright and straight
We had one of these in early 60's they were not bad on level hard-packed snow but in the deep snow they always wanted a tip over and you cannot manhandle them as you can with a Ski-Doo where you can lean and use your bodyweight to correct it ...... if you pay more that $20.00 for one....it is not worth it.
Theres a guy named Survival Russia that has a similar machine in Siberia that uses his year round if you want to check it out. He also rebuilt a Russian tank APC for use in the spring through fall as well. 😅
@@FuckALLauthorities I agree, only sheeple would see such a terrible device and then buy it just because someone tries to make it look cool in some video. They should get a real snowmobile or another better device so they are not getting ripped off.
@@romano2841 look on youtube prollly videos im from wisconsin and there are people building these out of old snowmobiles seen a few ice fishing this year i have zero use for one or i would build one
Yeah but you can use this year round. I would not use Snowmobile tracks or Snowmobile engines in the summer. Your just asking fir problems without allot of mods. That being said if you want a do it yourself project why not? If you want to see a mchine like this used in Summer check out a channel called survival Russia...I think he calls it a snowcat? Anyway its a russian machine not Husky.
@@loganholmberg2295 yea you put a 4 stroke honda on it do not use the original motor and you can use in summer might have to change the hyfax once and a while im just trying to give people other ideas than spending 4 grand on something thats easily built for around 400 to 600 bucks
