Some serious engineering went into this Bad Boy. The most compact engine compartment on a front-mounted gas-powered snow machine I've seen. I want one!

I am a old jet skier. You can thank Victor Shelton for inventing the leg drag turn. If my body would take it. I would have one of these in a minute and so would my friends. What a great design and the price is very affordable !

Last week I was sketching out something like this in my mind, with the idea of building it as a winter project. Today I find out it’s been done, and over a year ago! I hope that this creates a new category of power sports and and doesn’t remain a one-off. What a cool winter toy!

As a stand up jet ski rider, this is cool as hell. Would be great for bashing around crown land. Would be nice to see some sort of lip/ perimeter on the sides of the tray to push your feet into so you know where they are more intuitively. Pretty neat unit, love that they kept it light.

Wow what a great concept. I am a sledder and snowbiker. One of the earlhy converts to snowbikes. Shout out to Regan Sieg. LOL. We have all been wondering when someone was going to bring to market a purpose built single ski machine , instead of kits added to dirt bikes. But didn't see this one coming. LOL What a GREAT idea!!! Looks like it would be a ton of fun for back country exploring on low angle terain. For sure needs heated grips, that should be an easy mod for them to incorporate into the machine. Also requires plug in and mount for GPS so you can find your way home. Way to go guys, expect to see lots of them in the back country in the coming years.

Best I can tell, I have one on order. The company site was a bit vague on how to do this, I kept getting shunted to DEALER SEARCH, for my area (SE Idaho), and when none showed up, I could proceed no further! But last night I clicked on a link for a motorsports outlet in Canada that is a dealer for them (Martin Motor Sports, in Edmonton) and just like that , the $200.00 downpayment was accepted. I'll make the drive up there to pick it up when it's available, and deal with the border crossing as required. I'll bet I can stuff it my Prius, partially unassembled if need be.

Dude I had that idea Years ago I lived at the ski resort and I needed a little bop around. This thing is way more cool than my motorized kick and go with track idea . Can't wait to get a couple . In fact I'll take 4 right now. Thank you widescape.

These would be so much fun, where I live we only get a couple feet of snow a year so we have make mountain trips. This would be perfect for playing in the creeks and trees and would almost eliminate going to the mountains

I see a lot of potential in this design, imagine one with a Arctic cat blast engine in it...65hp and around the same weight. You could go across some crazy steep side hills.

The Blast motor is a 2-stroke, so you'd need a lot of space for the exhaust. Everything on this thing is very tightly packaged. I don't think you fit the Blast motor and all of the components needed to make it run in this thing.

Man, so many comments about more power. Your not getting the point. It DOESNT need more power. It has MORE than enough. Were all so caught up on a number VS what is necessary. Dont try an apply the same "more power is better" philosophy from sleds to this. More power would actually make it harder to ride.

looks like a great alternative for having fun in snow with small amount of acreage...i noticed you went off trail...that is socially accepted in your neck of the woods... here in NH, utter chaos would ensue, farmers would lose their crops, land owners would ban snowmobiling for eternity, a thousand years would pass before the land could heal, soccer moms enraged and demand satisfaction, police and hounds, hunt you down and put you on the next episode of "North Woods Law", and all the old experienced club members would put you on an aggravation plan that would compound with interest for years to come, but the scoot does look like fun...

Lol... this was good. But yes, its meant for off trail riding only. If a person does not have access to legal off trail riding, its not a good choice for them.

Cool! Refreshing to see something new to the world of powersports that doesn’t come with a battery that isn’t charged by the vehicle. (plug in). This has got to be a blast to ride. Sorta like the original Jet Skis!

Awesome video. Cool machine! Looked at their website the other day, after watching this video. MSRP of $8149 CAD + Taxes. Seems a bit pricey to me, even if the build quality, and fit n finish are top notch.

I bet its fun to scoot around on. The biggest customer I see is wealthier cabin and lake lot owners or someone who has a large lot to get around their property on. I can't see many people loading this and going to a riding area like a snowmobile.

I bought some Canadian made retractable wheel skis for my light plane, 11 years ago, and have mountain flown with them since, landing at over 9K feet. Datum skis, Canadians know how to make winter gear!

one issue i could potentially see is with the foot area. it looks like it could get ice buildup like older sleds that don't have the cut-outs in the running boards to let snow/ice pass through. i would maybe think it could use maybe a more aggressive/secure area for your feet.

My initial thoughts were the same as yours. That's why we are lucky so have ST to have these first rides/impressions. You kind of sound like the guys who have to 2 watercraft, where one is high horsepower and the other is a spark. Everyone thinks they want the hp but always have more fun on the spark. Great job again. Almost time for dirt trax!

I still have an old Yamaha SnoSport that makes between 9 and 11 horsepower, and even at that power level it's still a lot of fun. I saw some of the early Widescape prototypes, and just looking at their earliest versions I can tell they used components from a Yamaha Snoscoot (the first, smaller version of, the SnoSport). To me, the Widescape is sort of the evolution of the Snoscoot and the SnoSport. When I first saw the Widescape I recognized design similarities and thought, I wonder if the manufacturer would sell the skid, the track and the drivers so I could retrofit them to my SnoSport. I'm pretty sure the Widescape is way more capable than the old Snoscoot and SnoSport, so I'm betting this thing will be a lot of fun to ride. I just hope they build enough of them so we're not faced with limited supply and dealer mark-ups that go way beyond MSRP.

@@actionsportster7686 There are no common parts from a snoscoot or sport on the prototypes. I saw them in person and I have a snosport as well. I dont see how its an evolution of the scoot or sport. They were sleds meant for lower snow conditions and were absolutely terrible off trail. My kids love their sport, on the lake and in the field, but only where its packed. Anywhere else and they just get stuck. You are very correct though, its extremely fun to ride and opens up a whole new way of riding in the winter.

This is a fantastic analogy. Your absolutely right. A snowmobiler isnt going to replace their sled with this. But, if they have one as a 2nd vehicle, they may find themselves riding it more often than their sled.

I rode prototype since Two years and I perfectly understand the surprise of Luke! It's a fun machine, nothing to compare with that, my mountain/extreme are on pause since I can ride a widescape .

Man, very cool! I want one. As a guy who has owned a Kawasaki SXR 800 and the new SXR four stroke stand up jet skis, I think I would love this! I know you guys don’t like hearing this but I believe it’s just a little pricey. If it was a grand or two cheaper, I would put the deposit down today ☹️. Snowchecked a VR1 for next year so I have to draw the line somewhere! Lol 🤷‍♂️

I've ridden the prototypes and if there is one thing Luke said that you want to keep in mind when buying this is this : This is a real sport vehicle, you will get physically challenged driving this. It is a real cardio workout.

Call it a hunch but i do see the evolution of this getting a 450 4stroke (possibly power mapping options), little longer track + larger lugs, beefier suspension and some room from storage somewhere. Not saying it NEEDs it to be fun but when you look at how sleds have evolved over the last 20 years i think the same thing will happen. people will want to push the absolute limits on these once they get comfortable with them, same as a snowmobile or snowbike. Heck, I bet someone will be doing a back flip on it by the end of the year!

The 400cc Arctic Cat motor out of the Blast would make this, well, a "Blast" to ride!! :-) Love this concept, would be perfect for cities that get a lot of snow but frown upon full size sleds ripping down the roads or sidewalks!!

There is absolutely NO reason to add a bigger motor. It doesnt need it at all. Itll do 60kmh or so already and has MORE than enough power in the woods to go anywhere you want to go. More power would make it HARDER to ride. It wouldnt make it any better at all.

Seems like a great idea, Did you get a chance to ride it on a groomed or regular packed snowmobile trail?.....If so, how does it handle in those conditions? In my mind as a fabricator, I wonder if you could have a bolt on structure that could mount a dirt bike type seat so you could have the choice of a scooter or snow bike-ish feel.

I think it's pretty sweet. I ride little 2stroke dirt bikes. I'm used to small little weight bikes. I love the part where he says. How long can you ride it. You can ride for as long as you can ride it. That's all I can say. We only put 3 liters of fuel back in it. Did you ride an hour or 3hrs?

What I love is how easy this would be to rip just about anywhere and easy to load into maybe a suv or trick bed. I assume has check valves so it doesn't leak if on its side? Either way hope it's successful and gets to a price around 6k.

For us mountain riders, gonna need to see how it works in the steep, and deep. I've also been riding 40+years in the Wa. Cascades, and you say it doesn't have competition, but you know what we'd want to do with it, and we all know trail, and mountain are very different.
