There are plenty of road friendly 4x4s with less weight and better suspension set-ups for road use. Arguably this is a different class of vehicle with a heavy chassis and live axles. My own car is an AWD soft-roader a compromise that probably suits me better. For a new manufacturer the Grenadier is a very impressive machine. In general a reviewer has only got one sample to play with, if the geometry was set up badly on their example it could be a very different experience.

It sounds like he’d gone into the review with bad intentions, rather than thinking about what the vehicle is actually for.

Have done 13k miles in mine, no issues. Had the geometry done and no wander, constant imput output. A twisty road is zero issue. Uk pothole proof as well. Footrest, non issues. Crank the seat up. Had the option to purchase a new Defender and didn't..becuase I'm not a 40 something mother picking the kids up from school.

We completely agree - the Grenadier's on-road manners are exemplary.

Gentlemen - just as there is honor (or honour) among thieves (or betwixt them, if there are only 2), so should there be harmony and accord among (or betwixt) automotive journalists. Ignoring for a moment the retch-inducing, rat-like visage of a certain editor at ego, I mean evo, surely there is room for agreement. As a Grenadier owner, I agree with Stuart - I mean a certain unnamed editor - that the Grenadier is a danger and a menace, although perhaps my reasoning is different. Most of the owners are irresponsible in the extreme. We purchased the Grenadier without telling our spouses, and its tank-like fortitude enables us to place ourselves in predicaments where, being journalists, you would usually end the story with “due to safety concerns for the entire rescue team, it was decided to leave the remains in situ.” Fortunately for Stuart - excuse me - a certain editor, the Grenadier poses little danger to him, personally. Should an actual Grenadier owner see him crossing the street, 1)we are too blackout drunk to know which one to aim for, 2)since the steering is so bad, we would be listing to and fro like a frigate at high sea, and therefore are highly unlikely to successfully manage . . . contact, and 3)should we somehow overcome points 1 & 2, we would politely utilize the “toot” horn before said contact.

This is the best comment on RU-vid

Caster angle spec is 1.3 - 2.4 degrees. Some Grenadiers are obviously going out with this not in spec. The following RU-vidr found his at 0 degrees and fixing that made a huge difference. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OiQ7E7a8Gds.htmlsi=A8al9vyp5ybD0tzL . After thousands of miles driving in spec Grenadiers, I can categorically say the Grenadier does not wander. It is easy to drive on any road - in fact, it’s good visibility makes it unexpectedly easy to stay centered in lane and squeeze through narrow spaces. As for the self centering, it is fine in all but very tight car park type situations. In most on road situations it will self center to leave the driver to at most the last quarter turn and usually much less. The real issue is more the number of turns lock to lock and it is in those tight slow car park where you have to use all those turns and you notice that, for sure. An editor of Evo should know that sports cars with good steering feel probably don’t always self center completely either. He probably just doesn’t notice it because drivers want to drive back to center anyway and the turns lock to lock are low. It would probably be a revelation to him if he took his hands off the wheel of some sports cars.

Caster angles on most modern vehicles run between 3°-5°, which the Ineos will self center over time the level of assistance is lower than many people are used to. It's very easy to drive it in a straight line though provided you have arms and a brain, which presumably the editor of Evo is missing.
